FFX Rocks the house!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Joe Busby from Worcester, England says (12/Jun/2004): |
FFx is the best game ever my favouite part is in Bevelle the place where you get Bahumut. He is MAZIN his overdrive does about 34000 for me and he can easily beat belgamines yojimbo. Anyway now i'm gonna give some ratings for FFX Graphics (9) Storyline (9) Characters (10) Sound (10) Fun Factor (9)would be 10 but some parts of the game are too hard. Gameplay (7) Lifespan (9) I liked FFx because 1. it was challenging and it still is because i'm fighting the dark aeons and there really HARD!! 2. Because there are loads of things to do and bosses to beat and 3. Because it's just the best game i've ever played on. FFX is the best game in history Trust me there isn't a game equeal to FFx exept maybe GTA 3 but there is defantly nothing better than FFX If you ask me training a chocobo is one of the best side quests and trainings all right if you keep cool settle down with a drink and play at your own speed and defantly don't rush because thats when it goes wrong. play to your advantages. I swear if ever theres a game better than FFX i'll throw myself infront of a bus.

THE BEST GAME! |
| Ally from U.K says (28/Oct/2004): |
Final Fantasy IX is the best game evereerr! I just completed it today and the ending was BRIL! It is definetly worth the work. I was on level 50-54 when i completed the game, i didn't use any cheats, although i must admit i did have the ffix walkthrough! i just luv all the characters except Brahne(the elephant lady as Kuja says). Foy all you people out there who hav seen the ending...don't you think Zidanes a show of, and how the hell did Vivi...well you know, who `helped` him?!?! I think any of you twits out there who think the game sucks or it doesn't sound good well....ggggggggrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! I started playing ff9 when my sis brought it about 4 years ago and i kept playing it over, and over, and over again until i won!i won! I think ff viii, ff 10 and ff 10-2 are reely cool too! I think lani and amarant have something going on,i also think ruby and blank do too, she's only angry at him all the time because she likes him! I loved the graphics but if u play the game on a ps2 the graphics are worse. The story line freaked ne out a bit because it's VERY twisted.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLANTLY CRAZY |
| jack from united kingdom says (24/Aug/2006): |
FF9 is the best game EVER it rocks all aspects of the game the graphics are good and the game play is evan better and EVAN better its ps1 compared to some of the old ps2 games ff9 is like god the characters are brillant especially vivi and steiner i think they make a good team and if anyone reads this can you tell me how to get all the spells for vivi please thanks =]
i especically like the end where zidane and kuja get attacked by the lifa tree and they die well... you think they die and then zidane comes back in the play and makes a wish on the twin moons
that he wants to see dagger that was cool the way he revealed himself then the fmv comes on and you see her loose her pendant and that make her realise she doesn't want to be queen and throws her tiara away and gives him a HUGE hug and i want to know why they put that stupid game of 21 at the end its poinless why don't they let you save it and then carry on so you can complete it 100% and live happily ever after
can i jut add HOW THE HELL DID VIVI HAVE KIDS WHO IS THE MUM ...HIPPAUL THE FAT *******

The Beast RPG I've Played In A long Time |
| Aaron James Rose from Warwick, England says (29/May/2002): |
Ever since I completed FF7 and FF8 I've been searching for a new RPG game to start at so got Final Fantasy IX! One thing it has over the other games is the fact that the main character isn't a stiff, loner that eventualy falls in love! (That bit realy pisses me off!). The game has much more action that the previos games and the movies are much better. Altho tha summons arnt as powerfull that have a much better and cooler part to the game and the storyline, EG: Barehe useing Odin the destroy Cleyra Bahumut blowing up Barehe ect. Completley stuning graphics let you see the buitey of Piniclle Rock and gloomy Memoria in full detaial. Keeping chocobos isn't as good as on FF7 but still good,
but golden chocobos can fly wich is good. Plus you save the game with theese little creatures called Moogles (My favourite moogle is Stiltskin, I HATE Mogster!) Like all the other games it gets very strange at the end. I havent completed it yet but i'm on disc four, I can't beat the second Chaos Gardian in Memoria!
So in the end I'd give Final Fantasy IX 10 out of 10!

This is one of the best games I have every played. |
| James Sutton-Baines from Rockford , IL says (28/Sep/2002): |
I think that Squaresoft has done it agian, they have brought us another wonderfull installment in the saga that is Final Fantasy. Personaly when I bought this game , I thought that it was just going to be the average run of the mill kinda rpg , but when I got it home and started playing it , I found out that it wasnt. The graphics are wonderfull , the story line is the best in the Final Fantasy series sence Final Fantasy four, And the battle system and equip set is just brillent, I wish they had come up with this battle system earlier, well anyway on with the review, the sound could have been better , and the originality , wasnt all the oringinal, but the fun factor makes up for that , after I beat it the first time , I started agian and finally figured out how to summon eidlions ,which was really anoying cause the first time thru the game I beat it without eidlions! Well any way over all I think that if you are a fan of the Final Fantasy saga or just a fan of rpgs, Then in my opinion you should buy this game and trust me you will enjoy it.

Blast You, Disbelievers! |
| Siyengo from Parkes, Australia says (16/Aug/2003): |
Ha! It's back!
Reading these reviews, I was simply amazed at how many of them were pre-occupied with slamming Squaresoft's masterpiece. Honestly, people, where are your SOULS?
After the brilliant Seven and the uninspiring Eight (I won't mention Ten) I was sceptical about this. But why can't you see that this is a work of art?
Of course, I have to mention the graphics. They're beautiful. Absolutely beautiful, one of the best so far, if slightly inferior to Ten. The characters are so well animated, and the FMVs are incredible.
I don't know what you think, but I like the cute characters. Admittedly, Square could have done better on detailing a few's backgrounds, but as for me, I enjoy the here and now of gameplay, and the details of past lives are not the clincher.
As a 13-year-old, I get bored easily, but, regaredless of what others are saying, the gameplay and plot are absorbing. Even the battles I enjoyed, although the bosses were quite easy.
All I can say is that, if you are a fan of fantasy RPGs, at least give this game a test run.

One of the best... |
| Becky from Tetbury, England says (2/May/2002): |
I think Final Fantasy IX is a brillant game. I think it's nice to have a change from futuristic to medival/renaissance theme. I think the storyline is great, the graphics were superior to the other Final Fantasy games. The FMVs are great, the way they did them I don't know but they're the greatest thing t watch. The characters were well designed and most of them have a good history behind them. The music, well some of the music is great! But you can get really annoying music like the Treno or Ipsen's Castle. My friwnd thinks the Rat Dance is the best. It's defintilly a game that will be re-played over and over again to all hose who loved it. However it is really easy if you know what you're doing, and there are so many mini games that are great. Chocobo Hot and cold for example. There are also lots of things added from othe Final Fantasy games with I like seeing, like Cloud's Sword and the fact the Regent Cid is an Airship type of man like Cid from Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy IX is defintally a game that goes to the wall of fame.

Its a review.... |
| Fallen Royalty of Darkness from Georgia, U.S.A. says (26/Apr/2003): |
I love final fantasy. This is the first video game I have ever played and I'm glad it was. At first I thought that video games were for boring, stupid people who did nothing but sit at home all day and dream of living. But I was wrong not all video games are for shallow humans. Final Fantasy gives you a thrill. You really connect with the characters and get into the story line. I love going into synthesis shops and making the newest weapons and then getting in to a battle and seeing the cool new things you can do to completely sabotage your enemy. My favorite character is Amarant he's one I can really connect with. He is always making some smart comment about anything but he is always there for his friends.I have played and defeated this game seven times already and the end is quite surprising. You never expect that kind of action out of certain people. So keep playing and you will see what I mean. (I wish that I lived in this game.......................................................................................................)

Its like the 8 bit version on NES, ONLY ALOT BETTER! |
| Clint Chapman from Avon, Indiana, USA says (14/Dec/2000): |
How can anyone say this game sucks? You must not have played the first final fantasy (first in the US) I think its good that the people are divided in classes, because the way FF9 is set up, if you built your levels up, and had everyone learn the same items, EVERYONE could summon powerful eidelons. Now, what fun would that be? As far as the story line goes, Its the same as almost every rpg, every movie, every fiction book, good vs. evil. A group of unlikey heros, bands together to destroy a common foe. Its time tested and true, the characters in this game are as lovable as the other ones. Except NO bad guy will ever come close to sephiroth, and personally, im glad the relationship between zidane and dagger wasnt gone into that much depth, you could tell they wanted each other, if you paid attention, there was no need to go into great detail. Overall one of the best games i have ever played, and ive had EVERY system from a Jaguar, to the NES, to the PS2. Now when FFX comes out, I'm sure it will be unlike any game before.

Awesome! |
| Veronica from Michigan, USA says (12/Jul/2005): |
This was my first FF game I ever played, so I don't have too much to compare it too. But I do like the graphics and the music(although, listening to the same battle song for 3 hours can give you a headache hehe). I loved each of the characters and how each of them had their own personalities and their own feelings. I really got into each of the character's emotions. I haven't beaten it quite yet because I got down to the third to last boss and couldn't win because my characters were only about level 50 (one was only about level 40!) =P. But I'm trying to pick up on alot more of the side quests and abilities and stuff because I didn't really have them the last time and I think that they're fun and are helping me through the game easier. I think that it's a shame how some of you think that this game is bad. I think that you should be more open to the characters' emotions and struggles, that makes the game really enjoyable for me. I'm on disk 3 in my next attempt to get through the game. E-mail me with any helpful tips!

Final Fantasy Fantastic PSone Finalé! |
| Dean Birkett from Leeds, England says (6/Oct/2001): |
If you looked up the definition of brilliance in the PSone dictionary, you'd find pictures of Zidane Tribal, Eiko Carol, Amarent Coral, Vivi Orunitia, Garnet Til Alexandros the 17th and the tiny lil' mascot Oglops! This game is truly a cake-muncher and one hungry one at that. And with a truly deep storyline, and characters to match, this is a true K.O.!
Queen Brahne at war with neighbouring countries, Zidane and his band of genlemenly thieves are hired to kidnap her daughter Garnet and bring her to the safe outlying boundries of Lindblum, far away from Alexandria and Garnet's evil mother. But it turns out that Queen Brahne is only a backup of a more sinister force -the one known as Kuja. Kuja's evil plan - to bring down the panet of Gaia with the help of one evil suppressor known as Garland (later turning into his worst enemy) and the mist that covers the entire of Brahne's continent.
Can Zidane and his friends stop the evil Kuja before it's too late? 'Course he can! Just play an' see how, that's all I'm asking!

Super! Just Brilliant! |
| Yuna from Japan says (7/Aug/2001): |
Just a little *Spoiler* Just a little...
I loved the game. I thought it was just.... great! I played the game like... 3 times, and I find better things every time! I thought that the characters were really... They were "ok" characters. My favorite are Freya, Eiko, and Garnet. Zidane was the strongest, but not my favorite. Eiko was a brat, and crazy to like Zidane, but I really like summoning, so she was cool... kinda. And Garnet. I think she had the most troubles in the game, but she didn't do so much to help herself... and I thought that the battle modes were cool, I liked the magic more. I think the ship thing was kinda cheap, but it was fun. When I got the chocobo, I got to go as far as red, then I just stopped, 'cause I wasn't getting anything done.... I wasn't getting any experience points, so don't spend too much time on your chocobo! (But they do give you pretty good items) Over all, I thought the FMVs were the best! They had awsome CG! I can't wait for Final Fantasy X to come out!!!
|
Sooo coool! But, not the best... |
| A gamer from Douglas, Isle of Man says (4/Jul/2001): |
Final Fantasy 9. I got this as a prsent for doing well on a mid term report and was disappointed at how short it was! I got to disk 3 in as many days although it was 3 very happy days... Any way.
Graphically, FF9 is great, crushing all previous ffs under foot. Its music is perfect. Unfortunately it's storyline isn't deep enough and is a little bit simple. And if you think about it does bear just a teeny bit of similarity to ff7.The characters have little developement and you don't get much insight into their backgrounds.
Hey! We got rid of that crappy junctioning though right! Oh, but the ability learnig sucks even more! It's so damned annoying when your favourite character is a right wimp with no useful moves whatsoever! Sigh.
Still, it's a bloody sight better than ff8. ff9 beats ff8 easily but loses to ff7 pitifully. ff9 has some nice new points like those ickle thought bubbles and ates. It's still a top hole game and should be bought by any and all rpg fans. And isn't Steiner annoying!

Didn't Reach It's Expectations |
| Anonymous from Ontario, Canada says (28/Dec/2000): |
I expected this game to be great like Final Fantasy VII and VIII but they changed alot of the things in the game to make it worse such as Trance instead of Limit Breaks. Limit Breaks were much better because with Trance you dont get to use the full potential of it unless your in a boss battle. You get it at the end of the battle and dont really get to use it. The use of Chocobo and the fun you have with them is nothing compared to Final Fantasy VII. Also the battle isnt as great as the other games because the enemy gets too attack way too much. The FMV's and graphics are just as good or better than expected. The storyline was pretty good, and I also liked the Active Time Events. Another part that wasnt as great was the Moogles. I liked Saved points better for some reason. On the World Map transportation isnt as easy, overall this game is satisfactory and receives a 7 out of 10. Final Fantasy and Squaresoft are still my favourite game creators and series. Anyways, gotta run, see ya later.

9 is good but not king in the FF series |
| Swirly-Chicken from Stockholm,Sweden says (6/Mar/2001): |
As far as the Final Fantasy series come, I think that there was some things missing in nr. 9.
1: The item list in both 7 and 8 were much more extensive.
2: Magic for all of the characters.
3: Summoning magic for all of the characters, but in a way that didnīt make the game worse, but i think that I just missed it.
4: it was way to easy to get to the end.
5: The monsters was, ah man, they where just to easy to beat.
that goes dubble for the bosses...
6: Somehow I think the hole world was to small, I think there where more to do in the other games somehow, it just felt smaller.
The CGI was fab. I just loved they way they animated the characters in them, and lets not forget the music. Composed by Nobuo Uematsu, he did a grate job on them.
FF9 is over all a grate game, so if you havnīt played it yet hurry up and buy it...
I would like to buy the CD.s but $49 is to much i think..
Final Fantasy IX was verry good, even with the bad stuff, I canīt wait for FFX, I have to have it..

Probably the best game I've ever played........ |
| Michelle says (30/Jun/2002): |
I thought this was the best game I've ever played. I have the attention span of a 4 year old (even though I'm 12) but I never wanted to put the game down. I also agree with some of the other people. The great game needed a great ending. But with an ending like that well, it was a little disapointing. Square soft could of done so many things at the end but chose a simple ending. Also, if i had to skip one or two parts in the game it would probably be in Grizgrottos Grotto (I'm not quite sure how to spell it) and the something Roo. Not the Gargen Roo, the other one. When ther are going to the Other Continet for the first time. I hate that place. And regadless what everyone else says, I still loved this game. And if you read this and know the cheat to get more money, or a good website please e-mail me at michelleg< remove me > at fishnet.com. Or if there is such thing, how to get 99 of all items. But I don't have a game shark so i don't want those codes. Thank you all who will help me.

final fantasy is a great game |
| chris from canada says (1/Nov/2004): |
I think final fantasy is a great game it has cool graphics and gameplay that blows my mind i beat the game and it was cool.Tip here is some tips try to save money because each city has stronger wepons also try to beat strong monsters because they give loads of money if you find wierd key items keep them because some people by them around the end of the game for about 2000 gill you will battle guardiens when you beat them you can battle them again in crystal form in crystal world on top of the big tree on disk for around the end of the game.when you beat the game there are cool graphics at the end of the game when you beat the god of life. The god of life is the strongest and hsrdest to beat the fastest way to beat him is to use the guy who throws wepons and throw wepons at the boss make the wepons powerful.the four people i used to beat the game was dagger, vivi, the guy who throws wepons and the main person you get at the start of the game. That is how i beat the game
|
It was so cool!! |
| Kristen from Montcalm, USA says (30/Sep/2003): |
Okay, I know everybody's getting bored with the rogue saves the princes thing, but Zidane isn't your average rogue, and Garnet isn't your average princess. I mean, how can anyone call her wimpy? She stood her ground against her own family for god's sake!Zidane was too soft-hearted to be a true rogue, and he believed in doing what was right. THat was the reason I loved this game! They weren't the average characters, and they had varied responses to various situations. Garnet surprised everyone, but putting them all to sleep. Not a very princessly thing to do. Aside from that, Vivi was not your ordinary mage. He was frightened, like a small child would be. Eiko crushed hard on Zidane, just like a six year old romantic girl would. AMarant acted like a tough guy, but he had empathy. The one thing I had a problem with, however, was there were no voice overs. It would have been so nice to hear Garnet singing to Zidane, and to have Zidane make his advances.

A Great Comeback from the Monotonous FF8 |
| Scott B. from Louisiana, USA says (28/Feb/2001): |
Even though it is hard to believe, I rate FF9 right next to the amaizing FF7. I think it towered over FF8's horribly-defined characters and boring plot. There was not one time that I lost interest in the story or battles. The graphics were excellent, though maybe too many FMVs which took up alot of space on the disks. One good thing is that the story was made very clear so any idiot could understand the complex plot with the help of the new ATE system. The side quests were better than any FF that I have played (especially Chocobo Hot & Cold). If there was a downfall to this game, it would be the lower difficulty level and the fact that it doesn't take that long to beat.
But, in the end, FF9 left me with an overall feeling the same as FF7: Depression...... It was surprisingly depressing, to me, to accept the fact that the game was FINISHED and the adventures of my favorite video game characters came to a hault......Great Game!!
