I don't know where to begin with this game. The obvious thing that will put you in "ah" is the graphics. They are fantastic, every minor detail was put into this game. Everything from players adjusting there helmets to scratching themselves. I mean you can see the reflection of the stadium roof on the players helmets. Thats how great these graphics are. And the players movements when running and passing are excellent. You don't just hit a player and he falls down. It looks like an actual tackle depending on how you hit them. Players will slide on there knees and dive for catchs. Players will shack and break tackles. Fullbacks will plow over CB. The game is so much more realistic then ever. The controls are tight too. No 300lb lineman is going to switch direction on the drop of a dime, but half backs and recievers will. No more going deep on each play either. The cpu makes you earn your wins and they do put up some competion depending on the dificulty and team your playing. The injuries are more realistic too. They finally got rid of that ambulance after how many years now. My only grips about the game is that it doesn't have all the options like the 2 minute drill, tournament mode, and the preseason option when you play in franchise mode. Also Madden and Summerall get old real quick with there talking. Other then that if your a Madden fan you must get this game. It's a wise investment. I think it has great replay value and frankly I can't see how this game could get any better then it already is next year.

I imagine some of you are wondering why I'm scoring the game a seven out of ten. Well, to begin the graphics are decent. I believe that sony got us all hyped up over the Playstation 2 version, thinking that it was the one for regular playstation. The things that bug me about this game is first, the plays. I'm tired of being able to run the same play over and over again and be successful. Secondly, Summerall and Madden's commentary get annoying after a while.
Things that I liked: Madden Cards, one of the best ideas in a while. You can win certain Madden tokens for certain feats. I myself, have 901 tokens now. Two Minute Drill: Another good idea. It's for those times when you and your buddy want to compete, but don't have enough time to play a full game.
Overall: If this game were anything like the one on psx 2. Then the score would be much higher, but it's not. Don't waste your money on this one. Go get Gameday 2001, or better yet, College football games are awesome I believe. Questions or comments? Email me.

When i first bought this game i was pretty happy with it, unfortunately ive gone tired of the commentary and the gameplay.
The CPU offense is so boring as it never makes me defend the pass the whole time on every down and it always seems to pull out the big pass play whenever its a long gain. There are a couple of stupid mistakes like even if im winning by 50 on all-pro and ive turned the ball over a couple times because im bored john madden says this stupid line saying that we dont have to find another reason why were loosing????? Their Overall ratings are abit Underrated for people like Jeff Garcia, Terrell Owens, Daunte Culppeper... And some of the scramblers such as Mcnabb are way too slow to even think of moving them out of the pocket

I owned Madden 64, and it was alright, but then, like a light shining in a dark room, it hit me. I saw Madden 2001, and i had to have it. The graphics are intense, commentators are very lifelike in the comments, the players move with much grace. THE GAME IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plays are very low key, very simple, not complicated, and easy to run. Create-A-Play is an awesome feature, and when creating your own player, you get to pick just about anything you want. #1 GAME IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! (Behind Gran Turismo 3 for PS2)

If you have not played madden 2001 you dont know what you are missing. I think that creating your own player is the best because you can adjust his skills, pick faces, etc. also on the settings you can switch the time of quarters and see if you want easy play on. When your selecting a team you can pick teams form back in 70's and 60's. And you can pick the stadium that you want to play in. The graphics are off the hook. All of my friends love the game. Ea Sports keep on creating great games like Madden 2001!!!

Words can't describe how good this game is. Madden 2001 has the best fooball graphics for this system. The gameplay and the numbers of options is incredible. The sound is pretty good. I'm not a huge football fane but this game changes everything. If you are a football fan, I recommend you to go out and buy it right now or you could buy it for playstation 2. Playstation 2 graphic is ten times better.

This game is so realistic it isn't even funny! The graphics are so accurate, you feel like you are watching TV! Words cannot describe this game, BY FAR, the best Madden game yet! You can finally create your own team and own team uniform, I created my grade school football team and the uniforms look exactly like our schools uniforms. It's UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!

it is in a way the same game play as madden 2000 but the players moves and controls are alot easier to use. The good part is that no one on the game is invincible. There are alot of great teams and all the teams are rated fair. thats how madden 2001 is!!!!

This games pretty good but the graphics suck...and one play can win the whole game (hb toss) The commentary is so annoying I put it on mute and turn my radio on...but it is fun to play...espicially with the Ravens and Falcons..and with someone.

Wow, this game is absolutely awesome. If you like football buy a PS2 just for this game. Player movements, sounds, and graphics are the best ever, next to nothing. Forget DC, they don't have Madden anyway, too bad!!

best video game every made. especially if you're a football fan. I've always preferred gameday to madden but damn this game is awesome. Madden's commentary gets old real quick but other than that it's perfect.
