The Best Action Game I have played |
| Superman from Silaom Springs Arkansas USA says (3/Jan/2001): |
DC2 I think was an awsome game. DC2 is the sequel of Dino Crisis everyone should know that but if u didn't notice DC2 is way easier then DC that is the only bad thing of DC2. If u are planning on buying it beat DC first and then beat DC2 I was stupid and went ahead and bought DC2 instead of DC and I didn't even know what was going on. So buy DC first and then once u beat DC buy DC2 and kick ass because it is way easier then DC. If u are stuck on DC2 e-mail me and I will send u a walkthrough

Addictive but not even close to the original |
| Joel Karavati from Daytona, Florida USA says (1/Jan/2001): |
When I rented this game about a month ago I thought it was going to be one of the greatest games of our age. A sequel to DinoCrisis! What an awesome idea!
However, I found that after playing fifteen minutes the game was going to be too predictable. For one, the dinosaurs always (and i do mean ALWAYS) come back when you retrace your steps. The story was good enough to influence me to finish this game, but the constant annoyance (rather than fun) of the dinosaurs almost became too unbearable. The puzzles are a lot like the original, but overall this one just doesn't strike me as good enough to purchase. Rent it, but don't buy it. I think a lot of people are going to put this one down before the first action sequence is over. However, if you are a die hard Capcom fan you might be compelled to finish it (as i did).

Dinosaurs everywhere! |
| Victoria from UK says (29/Dec/2000): |
I thought that graphics and the story line etc were really good but i thought the way the dinosaurs kept coming back made them less scary as you expected them round every corner. I think the first Dino Crisis was much scarier as i even found the rapters scary but in this one they appear too often and start getting on you nerves. Besides that it's got a really clever plot and lots of twists. I also think it's a really good idea that you can stock up on ammo by spending the easily earned points you receive from killing the dinos.

Massive action and massive gameplay . Best survival horror ever . |
| Robert from Cologne Germany says (28/Dec/2000): |
Dino Crisis 2 is really pure action .
Other than in old RE series or in Dino Crisis 1 the puzzling has settled down to a fair level ,so you won't get lost how in these other games .That gives an extrapoint to motivation .
Next comes the controls that are pretty easy .You always run and
the button you need to hold for shooting also autoaims to your enemy ,what can be very helpful .
Graphics .Some may be disappointed because the cool 3D enviroment of part one is gone and typical R.E. prerendered backgrounds are used again .In the old R.E. games this may looked pretty lifeless but in jungle and with great sounds this method matches nicely .Sometimes you may walk through a passage you've already seen but now there is a T-Rex walking behind the vegetation or a Triceratops stomps far away from you .Sound has a nice quality , too .
The gameplay is very original for the genre .You will spend most of the time shooting raptors or other species that act pretty clever .The raptors for example never attack you alone .To defend yourself you get an arsenal of weapons :First Weapon and Second Weapon .The first is guns ,flamethrower etc. The Second is a kind of Sword that helps you open doors .You get other secondweapons too .You play part Regina part Dylan .
When going into a passage you permanently get attacked by dinosaurs .Killing them gets you points .With these you can buy ammo and weapons and ofcourse medpaks .That is the point that gives the game a touch of an RPG .You can buy stuff at terminals spread all over the game .Also there are these pretty nice made action stages that bring more different playability to the game.
Next thing is the great atmosphere .As i said in the graphics part occuring dinosaurs make noise before they attack and the mighty T-rex makes you wanna run .All sounds and the great FMV videos make you feel like in jungle .
Last is the point that the game isn't so long to play .But with secrets to play free (even 2 games) and the fact that the story is movielike you won't matter that too much .
Last Word :Fine Game .

Pretty... uh... 'okay'... |
| A gamer from Scarborough, Ontario says (27/Dec/2000): |
Yeah, the graphics are great. Yeah, the FMVs are the most lifelike cinemas one will ever see on the PSX. But in terms of gameplay, how does it hold up?
Not so great. Capcom has unfortunately traded in the tried-and-true Resident Evil-style suspense for a mindless arcade shoot-em-up. This would have been fine, if the frickin dinosaurs DIDNT RESPAWN in areas you already killed them. Sure, it's challenging, but it gets boring, and its a real tax on ammo. And Dylan is one of the biggest idiots I've ever seen in a game... ever. They shoulda just made it strictly Regina-territory like last time.
A fun rent, but if you're looking for something deep (the ext. points are completely ridiculous), dont bother shelling out your hard-earned 40 bucks. Get the original Dino Crisis instead, or a game Capcom did perfectly... Resident Evil 3.

A very playable adictive game that will keep you rivited!!!!! |
| Patrick from ONTARIO says (14/Dec/2000): |
This game is fun to play any time. It'll keep your wondering about what's going to pop up next. There's puzzles that you've got to figure out. Those puzzles can get pretty hard but I've pulled trough. This game can be time consuming. gameplay wise, it was great. The dino's will keep you on your toes all the time. Sound is pretty good, graphics are great for the type of game (survival horror). Overall the originality of the game wasn't all there. I've found that it had kind of a LOST WORLD feel. I've really enjoyd this game. It was and still is my favorite.

Pure fast and FUN! |
| Dan from Michigan, USA says (22/Nov/2000): |
Take this game for what it is. It's mostly a fast and fun action game. The first Dino Crisis was a good mix of action and puzzle solving while the second is mostly dino-killing action with some easy to solve puzzles thrown in, but not enough to slow down the game. You get to play two different characters, be the gunner on a boat with massive dinos chasing you from the water and air, and ride in a jeep while shooting rampaging triceratops! There is a satisfying assortment of weapons to use, and the dinos have some great AI that makes them seem real. You probably won't play it too many times after you beat it, but talk about pure fun! I like this game because I could finish the whole thing in a reasonable amount of time instead of getting bogged down by obscure puzzles that slow down the game flow too much (the Dino Crisis 1 pipe puzzle comes to mind). So, if you don't want to pay top dollar for it now, rent it for a few days -you won't regret it!

Nice looking game , only too EASY! |
| mels from norway says (20/Nov/2000): |
well, well, finally i own the long awaited sequal of the dino crisis, dino crisis 2..
..but, to tell you the thruth i`m a bit dissapointed, because the day after i got the game, i finished it, and with no problem at all!!!!!
okay, i`m not saying i didn`t enjoy the game. It`s just that when you pay alot of money for a game, you kinda hope for some weeks(?) of fun, with your good ol friend "the playstation"
okay, i`m probably gonna go thru the game once more, but that`s it!
It`s become a shoot-em-up game, which i thought was okay (to tell you the thruth i`m pretty tired of the resident evil type!) it kinda takes you back to the good old arcade games.. you know.
And the graphics, and fmv sequences are some of the best i`ve ever seen on this console, but there is a very important thing you must remember when you make a game, and that`s gameplay!!!!
This game is to darn easy..
why can`t they get some inspiration from the tomb raider series.. graphics isn`t all!!!!
It`s worth playing, but it`s not worth buying!!!

Be gentle, its my First review ever. |
| GamerX from Paris,France says (11/Oct/2000): |
I've never done a game review before but after playing Dino Crisis 2, I believed I had a very good reason to write one, admiration. This game is awesome, when I bought it, I expected it to be just another of Capcom's regular run of the mill survival series, you know, the idea's great but the controls suck and the game is full of those tomb raiderisque puzzles which not all gamers appreciate, but Dino Crisis 2 had me WOWing from the initial FMV to the ending credits, everything about this game reflects quality and shows that a lot of planning and hard work went into creating this masterpiece. The controls are tight and dead on accurate, once you work your way past the auto aim and practice a bit on your manual aiming and, believe me, its easier. The awfully slow door opening animations are gone,
the graphics are wicked, total brilliance and the replayability value is good too. the monsters are uncannily realistic and your characters' reflexes are perfect. The only downside I could come up with is that the game is a bit short( kick me !! ), but then its a great example of sacrificing quantity for quality.
Dino Crisis 2 provides great value for your money. Go out and buy it, you'll be glad you did, I know I am.

Dino Crisis 2 is one H*LL of a game! |
| Ravyn from Jax.,Fla. USA says (7/Oct/2000): |
Dino Crisis 2 is by far one of the Sony Playstation's better games. It's rich in detail and graphics. The game play is far better than Dino Crisis. There is just so much more you can do. Adding the sub-weapons was a great idea. The is sound is far better than the first one. The fun-factor is also through-the-roof. It's also totally different than the first one. I love the originality of the game and how it differs from the original. The point system is a blast and a lot of fun. The combos and counters add up the points really quick. I had a lot of fun playing the game. As a matter of fact I'm going through for the 3rd time. The mini game is pretty cool too.
If you haven't played this game, than I suggest that you play it as soon as you can.

Dino Crisis 2 makes the first one look like a thing of the past |
| John from New York, United States says (6/Oct/2000): |
With the release of Dino Crisis 2, I was wondering if they could make the game any better than the first. Well, let's just say I am happy. First off, the game makes you feel more like you are in a movie, rather than a game. The cinematics are not only better but also more abundant. Second, there are two characters to play in the game other than just Regina. Third, ( and probably my favorite ) there are more dinosaurs to dance with. Dino Crisis 2 has added four new dinosaure types. Each meaner and uglier than the last. Not only that, but there is a new systems of weapons and such. Now you earn points by killing dinos and spend them and more stuff to kill them with. Now with a system like that this game is destined for success. Instead of finding ammo, you buy it. This may not sound as good as it is but the ammo is relitivly cheap. Not only that but you can buy items that expand the amount of ammo you can hold. It is obvious that Capcom has got it's new Best Game title already.
