Great idea, horrible execution | | Arclight from Issaquah, WA says (23/Dec/2002): | WTF with the previous reviews?
The artwork and the production values for the game are pretty good. The game itself is HORRIBLE though.
The puzzles are a little pedantic and the control system is pretty sloppy. When you go into 1st person aim mode the chracter MOVES without your input. Is this supposed to be some kind of breathing simulation? If it is it's poorly done.
The inventory system is also pretty bad. I understand the need to be unique in aspects of the game but the inventory system is pretty standard folks, let's not mess with it and make things harder to PLAY the game.
With that said the custom artwork for the game is pretty good. The developers also spent A LOT of time makeing sure the character's animation was good (considering this is PS1, I'm impressed.) The background and other characters leave a lot to the imagination.
As long as you're not actually IN the game there's a lot of eye-candy. It's too bad that in the game the developers spent more time animating the asses of the main characters than improving frame rates or the controls.
Overall the game is pretty lackluster except for the art.
With that said, given the chance to buy it again I would probably do it. The comic artwork definitely makes the game.
| a fantastic, adrenaline pumping thriller from start to finish | | Jack from Placentia, California,USA says (4/Nov/2000): | DANGER GIRL! What do you think of when you hear that? I think of a heart pumping thriller. Now you may think it's just another waste of time with a comic book put in to a game, but I found it very exciting. you start off as a girl that knows how to keep her cool under pressure. this boosts your self esteem way up, and in all games all you need is confidence. the graphics run very smooth and the 3-D animation is mesmerizing. the sound is good (not great, but good). some of the game play is just a little choppy, but once you get use to that there is no problem. once I read the comic at my local comic book store, I was addicted, then when I heard they came out with a game, I jumped with joy. this game will keep you wrapped in entertainment, so don't play it before you go to school, because you plain, flat out just will not go. I will be reduced to tears when I have to take it back. OH WHY,OH WHY DIDN'T I BUY THIS GAME!?
| Wow | | A gamer from The very hot Hampton, Virginia, U.S.A says (27/Oct/2000): | This game is like Syphon Filter and Metal Gear Solid rolled into one. The difference is that you are a female for the main character. The game is really fun to play. The idea to let the creators of the comic book series oversee the project was a great idea, because the game plays out like a comic would. I love the little intros to the levels and the comic relief is great. I have read the comic book and the game is truely one of the best made from a comic book that didn't lose the feel of the comic book world that was created.
