| Aled Loy from Adelaide Australia says (12/Dec/2001): |
i really enjoyed driver 2. i think that its better thatn the first one. i dont have driver 1 but i played it with my friend and we always went on about how cool it would be if u could steal cars and get out of yours. i like it how some missions are easy and others are hard. i thought that when the cars fell through the road was funny coz they just fell from the sky. i also lick the free drive moode coz the cops still chase you but you can go any where in the city and find secret areas

Driver 2 - Dream or dud? |
| A gamer from Belfast,Northern Ireland says (1/Jan/2002): |
To me, Driver 2 has been a pleasing experience. I find it entertaining breaking the law- highjacking cars, buses etc. and going through red lights, on the the wrong way down a one way road! The new features that differ it from the original driver include:
-multiplayer
-different cities
-get out of the car
-steal new cars
and there is much more.A few let downs are hitches i have found. Sometimes you are driving down the road and suddenly you fall into water (that comes from nowhere in the middle of the road) and it is game over. Also, i have got stuck behind buildings . wot happened was, I sat of a dining chair in chicago, was hit by a car and was vaulted through a shop windo. This may sound fun, but i was the stuck there and had to restart.
The multiplayer i also find disapointing. 2 player 'take a ride' soinds brilliant except for the fact that you have very little space in the city, you are stuck on the incar view, the only cars are you and player 2's car and there is no cops. Fun to start but soon gets as exciting as a dead cat.
I think the undercover is exciting and i like the way there is no test to see you do the things with your car as there is in the original. The story lines are average and the difficulty is hard. Good for a while, but if you become stuck on one particular level, you soon get bored.
I agree that the cops can be harder. But for the dunces who haven't worked it out, when you buy thr game the cops are automaticlly on hard mode. You have to go to the options menu (on the main screen) and turn it to easy. I think the control is the same, as long as you get a good car. A slow or one with high damage is slower and harder to control.
I think if they briought it out on PS2 or X-box after improving the points I listed it would be a big hit, especially with the improved graphics.
In conclusion, Driver 2 is as good as Driver (1) and it give hours of fun but can be annoying at times, especially the corny music in the backround. Try renting it before buying because it is one of those things some will like and others will not.
I give driver 79% as a rating
Thanks for taking time to read this

Lame and too hard |
| Crosso from Auckland, New Zealand says (5/Jan/2002): |
I has to sll this game because it was too hard, and too depressing when you couldn't get past that section. I thought the graphics were average and worse than Driver 1, the car handles worse than 1, and the cops, as one other reviewer said, will slam you for anthing. The cops seem to be able to anticipate your every move, and this isn't great compared to the more realistic AI on Driver 1. In one part of the "drive around" mode, I was trying to get to part of the city. I was on the right side of the road, behind other cars, perfectly normal, and I got slammed !
The two player section isn't much chop when you can only have just the two cars, and nothing else, it all gets a bit boring !
Overall, I didn't rate this game at all. I only got to about a third of the way through, so I guess that it would be a good long game of you make it.

pretty bad ass game |
| JW Statler from Jourdanton, Texas, USA says (9/Jan/2002): |
This game is the hardest game i have ever played. It took me like 8 months to beat it, but i finally got the hang of it and became a master at turning corners and doing 180's, plus i can get away from any cop in the game i can also stay away from the cops in survival mode, i once lasted for like 2 minutes. the graphics in the game were way better than the first, what the other ppl sayed about it being the same as the first have no judgement and dont own more than 5 games unlike me i own like 100 different games. The first one was a game that let u choose the level u wanted but not the cars if ths one let u choose a level it would ruin the stroy line but thats a good thing because the first one's story line was dumb. I also had to use a gameshark on like levels at the end because the programmers were dumb and made them the hardest and they should hve made them all the same.

Most exciting game for the playstation |
| Daniel from Seattle, Washington, USA says (12/Jan/2002): |
This is my most favorite game that I have because it has the excellent graphics. Real-life style for example people walking around that you can scare away the the horn, you can crash other cars and steal them including police cars, fire engines, limos, and ambulances. You can unlock hidden cars like the Ute in Vegas, the morris minor in Havana, a semi in Rio and a Sport car in Chicago. In this game you can actually the cops talking in 3 different languages English (for Chicago, and Vegas), Portugese (for Rio) and Spanish(for Havana) You can play 1 player or for 2 players. One of the worst things in this game are one of the undercover missions called "Chase the Gunman" it is the mission that I had a hard time with, all others seemed easy. The best way to have fun and almost not stop laughing is to put on invisibility than to choose survival. You can't die unless you flip over and cops stop ramming you car, this way the cops should hit you and you should jump of the air. In all turned out beter than the original driver because you can get out of the car.

Damn Cushtie |
| Roger says (2/Feb/2002): |
Driver 2 is a wicked sequel to Driver, with a ton more things to do and even better cities to unlock, plus the odd surprise round the corner. A mini, a sports car, and even an alleged helicopter in Rio. Although i thought that the graphics could recieve a little work, and some more variety in the default vehicles, Driver 2 is an highly recomended game.

An awesome game |
| A gamer from Monticello, Illinois USA says (8/Apr/2002): |
I think Driver 2 is a great game. All of the stuff is great, except for some of the undercover missions. One of the bad undercover missions is when you have to Hijack the amunition truck. I can't beat that mission. Every thing else is OK. I wish their were more cars to choose from on Take A Ride. I also think that you should be able to choose a car in undercover missions. The graphics are really good compared to other Playstation games. The turns in the roads are better than Driver 1. I think you should be able to steal and fly airplanes. The police chases are OK. I think you should be able to shoot the cops or something. So, overall Driver 2 is an awesome game.

the funnest game!! |
| wee ittle boy from reno, nevada, united states says (18/Apr/2002): |
This game will keep you busy for hours, you get to find secret cars and get chased by police exc exc.. well i think this game is just fun! steal cops and get felony and it has a great story line too. i got stuck i few times in the missions but i got it. if your stuck, well dont know what to tell ya, just keep trying. my favorite thing about this game is stealing cars. its alot easier than driver 1 but i beat d1 in 1hr because it was so easy. this one is fun with alot of challenges, thats why its so fun, it well just keep you in front of that old tv playing away! when i first got it i couldnt wait to play it. the first 2 levels well get boring but when you get rio and vegas youll be driven around the city lookin for stuff and more stuff. well again this game i found is very fun. the worlds scariest police chases are funner but you get the idea.

I think most of you are very immature and inexperienced casual gamers |
| M Dillon G M from Tokyo, Japan says (7/Aug/2002): |
For most of you liars, beating even the third to last level where you chase your friends hitman in rio is so awfull in the perspective of how challenging it is not to lose him that most gave up before even making it half way around the narrow mountain pass, where the driving expertise is so persice that all my friends gave up a year ago and sold it to me, bad decision for them as in 4 months of excrusiating emotional pain I eventualy cought that horridred car from hell, after having practiced up to that point without a memory card for 2 months in the first place, I was relived at 12:16 AM on a cool spring night in may! Only to smoke through the next level and eventualy end up stuck for 4 hours more on Pink Lenny's $#< remove me > at !ing chopper level! That $#< remove me > at ! crashed and burned by that old abandoned construction site at that dead end road on the north-east side of the stinkin town. Haha, but I was very unhappy with the ending, much like shenmue except I'd actualy consider the next game in this series as I was dissapointed after beating GTA III 3 times, each getting erased soon after to a lame ol' memory card bug that many of my friends had suffered too. Oh yeah, All of the games switches to the secret car areas are next to or within a block in any direction of the locked entrances, I know this because I've hunted the map clean from yahoo advertisements to mountain-Dew and infogrames itself! After the credits roll, all of the pedestrian and non-secret cars will be selectible in take a ride mode, and oh yeah, there are very cool non-gameshark glitches that you should look into, like a wheelie with the cooper (simple one) or harder ones like raining cars in chicago or tricks with the strip in las vegas or no buildings at all! This game is very difficult to master and most casual gamers will end up selling this gem long before it's time. And why do I rate a game consived by such high standards none more than a 6? Because even before mastered for many, this game loses its shine from the later repetitive difficulty and that most who fall in as deep as I once was will eventualy become bored after finding that the immunity and invinciblility, Icluding mountain pass, and racetrack in rio. Although fun for "flying" on hard dificulty (Due to the violent nature of Hard cops) These additions will keep a gamer satisfied for a good year! But when placed next to the predesessors 'Button accessible' codes they don't half live up to the effort and time such a difficult task can bestowe upon the average gamer. A master this game takes not, but a good challenge and lots of time and energy is my main concern. And when looking for a game that is very hard to be beaten in just months, this is definately a title well worth your hard -earned dollar.

In a rush to make a game |
| A gamer from Ohio, USA says (24/Nov/2002): |
The game itself is great but seems like they were in a hurry to make a sequal to the orriginal driver. The ingame graphics are really bad. They spent too much time on the characters and story line. I do enjoy the steeling car aspect but even that's been done before. the cities however, are really great. they are huge and pretty much correct along with a map. Good game, bad graphic, I give it a 6

Ok Game...Lame graphics |
| Dylan Stewart from Torrington, Connecticut, USA says (26/Jan/2003): |
I like the game, but it has cheap graphics and you can't do much in take a ride a ride mode except drive around and steal cars. It gets very boring after a while. It would be better if there were more cars and you could have a gun. I think you should be able to get out of you're car while the cops are chasing you like in Grand Theft Auto. It needs to be more realistic!
|
Why i like this game? |
| Martin Garro from framingham, massachusets , USA says (28/Jan/2003): |
I think that driver 2 is a good and cool game, because in driver 2 you can learn what i call drive i mean that you can leanr stuff about other citys for example Chicago, Havana, RIO, and Las vegas. I recomend this book for people who like to have a good time with your family. Driver 2 is not a boring game. I hope you enjoy my opinion about this game, and try it.

Amazing |
| Seamus Blakeway from Merseyside, England says (13/Mar/2003): |
Driver 2 is the best game going. Although sometimes the graphics are a bit bad, the gameplay and lifespan are FANTASTIC! I love the way you can not only have an adventure but you can just drive about like a normal (or maybe not so normal) guy. I would reccomend it to any gamer and if you don't like the game, you're crazy!

WICKED!!!!!!!! |
| Paul from eastbourne England says (11/Apr/2003): |
Driver 2 is ok but i don't like the graphics much, but the shadow on the person is good.I would like driver 2 better if it had guns and things like that in it.I like driver 2s map it looks real.Another reason why i like driver 2 is because u can nick sertain police and fire engines.over all driver 2 is good but not brillient.

Tip for Chase the Gunman in Rio.... |
| Clint "Driver2Champ" Robertson from Gold Coast, Australia says (4/May/2003): |
Instead of trying to run the gunman off the road as the game suggests drive alongside him as soon as you get on to the main road and keep ramming him with the side of your car as you drive, his damage should increase pretty quickly and he should stop before long.
|
Driver 2 does NOT suck. It's the best. |
| Stefan Esparon from victoria,seychelles says (5/May/2003): |
Driver 2 is ,beleif me,the best. It's better than that crappy Driver 1.Why?Because the people in the first are cartoonic and very ugly, the cars in the first are like match boxes and when you do felony,(Driving on the pavement, reversing on the road, etc ),the police do nothing!Who cares about graphics! It's the game, not graphics. All those who don't like this game, don't know what's a real game.It doesn't need guns Or good graphics! It's fine.I love RIO,my best car is the limo and I like because you can steal cars.Oh,and I hate Driver again because you can't get out of your car.I'm a master at this game and I always be.
|
GOOD. . . . |
| A gamer says (20/May/2003): |
This game is good and I like the graphics but I don't like the story goes in the mission mode. But I love the way you hijack cars and trucks and even the police car, and I also like the way you ram cars and the way you runaway against the police barricades. I rate this game GOOD!!!
|
Driver 2 is GREAT..but i dont understand it! |
| Sarah from Bath, Maine, USA says (29/May/2003): |
Driver 2 is an awesome game. When i got it i couldnt stop doing, the take a ride in chicago. but then that got boring because all i did was ride around in the same place. But then i went to havana and that was fun 2, i REALLY like the trucks there. But then that got boring. So then i started doing the mission thing, but the one in havana started being hard. The one when u have to hijack the truck. And now i am stuck, and my game wont let me play Rio or Vegas..so i am bored w/ it right now..i wish someone could tell me how to play RIO and VEGAS!! Also the graphics arent that great...

This can't be a "game" because that word suggests its fun. |
| Adam from London, England says (20/Sep/2003): |
It can't be a "game" because that word suggests there's something fun about "Driver 2." There isn't. Lets suppose you actually found a copy that works like I did (I've heard a lot of copies of the game don't work even if they are new.) Even then the game slows down sometimes, usually breaking your concentration when you need it most, then suddenly speeds up again. The graphics are unrealistic, we've seen most of the "Driving games" before in the original Driver and the two-player option is a disappointing waste of time on the discs. Those are just the minor problems however.
One of the worst things about the game is the disappointing "Take a Ride" option. In it you can steal cars. Cool right? Wrong because when you are out of you're car you walk at a snail's pace, all the other pedestrians look the same and you can't talk to them or anything and there are no cars worth stealing. Sure it’s a good idea to be able to steal cars but surly the idea could be exploited better. This is the main problem behind the entire game in fact: its been made in a hurry with little thought put into it.
The biggest problem of all however the difficulty. I don't mind a challenge but the first mission on this game is like one of the Los Angeles mission on the original Driver. In other words if this was the original Driver we'd be half way through at least by now. Yet it’s only mission one! The mid way point is like the very last level on the original Driver and the "Chase the Gunman" mission is possibly the hardest computer game level in history. It’s an almost painful mission to play and by the time you’ve won you’ll be so cross you won’t be able to enjoy winning it.
If the game was more addictive this challenging difficulty level might be ok but it’s a very dull game that you get sick of in five minutes.
There are a few positive things, like a very good plot that makes more sense than most movie plots these days even though this is about the levels not the cut scenes. Also some of the ideas, like the two-player version of the game, have potential but that potential is never fulfilled. It would be good if it was fun but it is the most completely un-fun "game" I've ever played.

killer |
| J.O.D. from Greeley, CO says (8/Jan/2004): |
This game not only has the most realalistic driving phisics I've ever seen. But its fun as hell.#uck all you pu$$ys who shun it because of the graphics. The game play is #ucking sweet. The missions are extremly challenging and if you beat the Joddamn game you could really out run the cops. this game honest to jod tought me to drive. Maby that ain't a good thing but hell I haven't killed anyone yet. so I give this game ten stars mainly cause the phisics are so damn realalistic but also cause I can never get tired of killing pigs.and by the way if you ever make it to that damn "chase the gunman" mission there's really no tricks or cheats that will help you. You just gotta be the fastest smoothest most aggressive S.O.B. ever. cause that son of a b*tch is a pu$$.
