Not bad, but needs a little tweaking | | Keith Yambert from Tiffin, OH USA says (1/Aug/2001): | I thought this game was great until I took my first pit stop in my first full race. Everything was fine until those that pitted a few laps after me came back on the track. They blew past me like I was standing still...and was doing over 200 mph at Talladega!
I imagine this is to keep you from lapping cars and keeping the race exciting, but if you don't see them coming from behind, you more than likely will be wrecked out of the race.....Highly annoying if you have a perfect setup to win the race! Also, the other drivers get a little overly competitve in the last 50 laps after laying back for nearly 120 laps (depending on the track you race at). Yes, that happens in real life, but maybe not quite that suddenty and aggresively.
I still enjoyed the game overall, though. It has awesome graphics and the sound is really good even though the radio from your crew gets a little repititious, and the noise of the engine can get monotonous. But hey, that's what it sounds like inside the real thing, if you think you might want to be a Nascar or any other kind of race driver, that might be your first test, to see if you can handle the drone of the engine! It looks like the emphasis was put on the Beat the Heat portion of the game, Which is where it really shines, and is actually worth the price of purchase alone. It's set up so you can't beat every scenario with your eyes closed, but actually is a challenge, which makes for a little more fun, and you don't feel like you wasted your money because you beat the game in a couple of days! The Beat the Heat mode is excellent for both newcomers to Nascar, because it helps you to learn and understand drafting, downforces, and tire and fuel economy. I'ts also fun for those people who have experienced knowledge about Nascar because you can be your favorite driver (in season and single race mode only, in Beat the Heat mode you drive as a wide variety of different drivers depending on the scenario.), and finally take of that rotten Jeff Gordon character by beating him to the finish line (GO, MARK MARTIN!)!! I would have liked more than two bonus challenges though. I'm not sure if there are more than that to unlock, maybe I have to rate a little better on the other Beat the Heat challenges. Aside from the season or single race modes this is a really great game. My bottom line is, if the copy I have now were ruined, yes, I would definitely buy another copy, and I can suggest that if you don't have it to go get it.
| This is awesome | | A gamer says (2/Mar/2002): | I love this game it tells you really what it is like for instince when your at talledaga you have to stay behind the car ahead and you have to stay in front of the guy behind you and the wrecks well i think thats my favorite part of the game even though some car makes in the games have some (disadvantages) because the chevys all ways have the advantage and if you have a perfect car for the race you all ways seem to lose but overall this rocks!

| This game rocks | | Joey from Maryland, USA says (1/Jul/2001): | Nascar Heat is a great way to learn drafting and other technuques. One of the best parts of this game is when the nascar drivers give you advice. I think this is the best nascar game to come out yet.
