Outsmarts Pokemon | | MisakiS from California says (19/Oct/2003): | Better than Pokemon. That's for sure. something more enjoying than the same old phrases Pokemon uses. Unlike Pokemon, Harvest Moon people react to your chsracter, depending on how you treat them. They ask favors which leads you to rewards. Harvest Moon has more than one goal. Its to have as many friends, a wife, the caring of your pets, and the success of expanding your farms land and money. Depending how much you spend time or feed your animals on time, they will love you more. Well, Pokemon doesn't have that option either. Harvest Moon raises their farm animals as their appearances become bigger as they grow. Pokemon doesn't.The games lasts about almost 3 years in the game (not in real life). There are plenty of events. You can participate in them like cooking, playing an intrument, flirting with firls, showing off in competition like swimming, cooking contests, horse bets and racing, dog bets and races, and plenty of exciting tools in your kitchen. There are cut scenes with other character relationships. You can upgrade your tools for a better effect on resources, expand you house, and expand you barns or your own planting houses. There are secret caves throughout the seasons and unepected visitors from you farm. You can get married with girls with different personalities. Stop criticism!! Its yiur fault you chose her in the first place. You can't expect to have a quick relationship, compared to real life. This game has a more choice of girls with different personalalities and what they would expect from boys. This game takes a lot of hard work that the SNES version.
| This Harvest Moon is the Best! | | Cassidy from California, Alameda, USA says (30/Jun/2003): | This is one of the best harvest moon games yet. It has similar stucture for the people from harvest moon 64, as an example big cylindar shaped heads and they are all short, or at least most of them are like this. I love the songs on this as I do on all of the harvest moon games. It has a great replayability I think because you can marry so many different girls, do so many different things(plant different crops, have different animals, have more extentions, I could go on forever), and so much more! I love the amount of time they give you, it's perfect. It has so many and I love that the elves can help you, unlike any of the other harvest moon games. This game also teaches you some important lessons in life such as don't drink, don't woo multiple girls at a time, don't be mean to your wife or she'll walk out on you, don't treat your animals badly or they will be taken or die, and it also teaches the responsibility of animals and shows you what real life is like, ups and downs. This also allows you to have a child and watch him grow.(since it never lets you have a baby girl) I think the only bad side to this game is that like most other harvest moon games YOU CAN'T BE A GIRL! But besides the bad one of my favorite features is all the improvments you can make on you house and how they look when they are done. I also like that you don't have to feed your horse or dog. Their are so many great things about this game I could go on forever, this is a great overall game with lots of fun packed in to every part of the CD's mega bytes or whatever is in it.

| Awesome!!!!!!!! | | Christine from Jerman says (8/Sep/2004): | hi harvest fans,well,personally i love dis game.i have playing dis game for a long time,u won't believe until u see it.Its a good game,but i prefer final8 than dis game.It's quite boring.
I can't play for dis moment because i have to study for my exam.Actually, it's a game which about farming. The game just like our normal life.We can bathing, sleeping, cooking and planting some crops or flowers.
Here some interesting secret for the players-You throw a spa boil egg into the waterfall ,a minute later ,a nymph will appear to say thank you to u,isn't that great!
For the girls.i like karen more than the others.Popuri are childish, ann is a tomboy, elli is silly and mary is a obedient girl but ugly.(juz kidding).U can keep on chasing your girls until her heart is red in colour.tat means she is ready to marriy.]
For the animals,u can rear dog, chicken, cow, sheep and horse.U can enlarge your barn, your own house and even build a hot house to planting crops although it is winter.
The festival is soooooooooo interesting.U can brought your animals to take part at the festival such as horse festival, cow festival, sheep festival..........you can also gave some gifts like flowers, bracelet and many-many more at thanksgiving day and on her birthday.karen's birthday is 15 fall, popuri's birthday is 3 summer but i don't know the other bacause i haven't tryng them.
Ooops,so late aiready.Bye,see u all again.If u want to contact me,just follow this numbers:012xxxxxxxx(just joking)
| I Can't Stop Playing | | Jenna from Cebu, Philippines says (18/Jul/2003): | This game is great. This is the best game there is. no doubt about that. When you play this game, it sucks you in, like a curse, like you have to play this game. That is how i feel, I can't stop playing, I love this game so much. I play it when I wake up, and before I go to sleep. If you played this game or have this game then you know how I feel. You can get married, the graphics are good (it's better then nothing), you can grow crops, and raise animals, and go to festavils, and have mini games, but BEST OF ALL......YOU CAN GET MARRIED!!! This Game is the best. My favorite girls are #1 Ann, #2 Elli, #3 Karen..........the other girls I don't like, Popuri is pretty but she's too hard to marry and asks to much, and Mary, I just don't like her beacuse all she does is say "hi' and "thank you", plus she's to nerdy, but I'm not juding her, she's pretty, but she's kind of Hard to get. Ann, what can I say about Ann? Lets see....She's Hott, she may be a tomboy but she really pretty, she cooks good too. Elli. We'll Elli is pretty and nice and caring, that's what I like about her, she an okay cook, but she'll make a really good mother. Last but not least, Karen, The amazing Karen, Karen may be a wine drinker, but she's a caring, funny, lovable girl, and she's gorgous. The animals are so cute, The sheeps and the cows are really hard to take care of, unlike chickens. But they pay off. The horse is kind of a pain in the neck, he does nothing good in the farm.....but i guess he'll pay off on horse races. Then you can grow crops this game rocks!!!
| Cool Game. The Best! | | Andrew Portillo from Manila, Philippines says (13/Dec/2003): | I tried this game once and by the first day, I was hooked! There's no other game in the world that can tear me away from this one. Harvest Moon: Back to Nature is a great way to build up your creativity, logic, and strategic skills. All these and more can make you understand the importance of perseverance, love, and care for nature. The simplest things in life will become important to you if you just give this game a try. There will be times that you can sometimes relate the events in this game with events in real life. There are challenges, contests, friendships, and if your lucky, MARRIAGE will come to you! There are cheats out there but it's much better if you don't use them. The chalenge is the fun of the game. There really is a way to succeed without cutting corners, try not to be tempted. Remember, this game is based (on some points of) reality. In real life, there are no cheats. Try this game out and you'll know just exactly what I mean. (When you DO try this game, please remember that you have to eat, drink, breathe, and sleep. Yeah, it's that addictive.) This game has the best imitation of life and reality(, you'll feel like you're the person in the game. There's something so addictive with this game that I can't pinpoint so look for it yourself, ok). I seriously want to contact the creators of this game to give them a CONGRATULATIONS! and my THANK YOU!'s because seriously, I've never been so addicted to a single game! The temtation to play again is too great! I'll be playing this game for a long, long, long, LONG time.
| bloody good stuff!!!!! | | pandora from northern ireland says (29/May/2005): | I have had this game for almost two years now and I think it is one of the best games I have ever played. There are no other games quite like it, definitely one of a kind. The cartoon like graphics make it fun to play and the interaction with other villagers is very good. The more they like you the more positively they talk to you and on many occasions give you things like recipes or even a fishing rod. Barley tells you how to make ice cream if you give him an egg. The music changes for each season and makes gameplay more intereseting, in different areas the music also changes making it less monotonous, not that anything in this game is monotonous. The concept of a farming simulation game is definitely unique. Starting out in year one can be hard and it takes time to build up a profitable business but that only adds to the game. In some ways it is what makes it unique you spend each day cultivating the land and tending to your livestock while trying to form good relationships with the villagers in the hope that at the end of the three years they will accept you and let you keep your own farm. The idea of losing at the end makes you work even harder to ensure that you don't fail. This game gives you endless hours of entertainment and enjoyment, I know I have wasted many of my days off playing on it and will continue to do so. It is suited to players of all ages; once you start playing you're hooked for life. I love this game and will be playing it for many years to come.
| Well, is not bad for a RPG :] | | Jackie from S'pore says (17/Apr/2004): | It pretty cool having able to have a wife and a kid, still i wonder how... :p(They are sleeping in different bed?)Here are the Pros and Cons in my personal opinion.
Pros:
Having a few interesting festivals once in awhile, chasing the girls you like in town and some mini stories(If you are there at the right place and the right time.)now and then, for all i can say is that you can't really see that kind of things in most of the RPG. And i really like Elli =)
Cons:
There are events to make your 'hard' and 'boring' farm life better in the game, but still farming most of the time does make you abit bore as time goes. And sometime you even get 'mad' because the times seem to go just too slow and you just couldn't wait for the event you been waiting for to come, or have too much things to finish, you hope that time would go slower. For another thing, especially for those who palyed for four years in the game, it like it actually takes you months to complete a game that almost goes almost again and again?
That all i have to say because i really don't want to offence others out there who like this game, not that i'm saying i hate it, and still it a nice game to go for if you like animals, nature stuffs and so on...
And to those who has any commets or what ever so don't E-mail me, not because i'm thick skinned but it some-what like FREEZE, so no point trying to contect me through E-mail, but if you LIKE you can reach me through Neopet, I'm call rexter272.
| Not Just For Little Kids! | | Jali from Edmonton, Canada says (3/Mar/2001): | Despite the cutsey story-line and even more cutsey graphics, Harvest Moon is a very addictive and fun game for all ages! I had originally started with the old SNES Harvest Moon, and maybe it's the mothering instinct in me (no wait! Don't run! I'm a girl, we can say things like that!) but the idea of raising a little farm full of animals and produce really appealed to me...ok, now I just sound slow! But understand, normally, a game like this wouldn't catch my eye, since I'm more of a die hard Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy fan, but HM:BTN is a fun alternative from the usual stream of shoot em ups and what not we're usually faced with. More than that.....it showed me I was really lucky to have been born a city girl, because I don't think I would've lasted in the country -.- Anyway, I would recommend this game to those of you looking for a interesting new change, and just plain old fun. A word of advice though: make sure you have ample time to play it in.....something about taking care of little cows and chickens makes you want to stay up until four a.m playing it! And also do yourself a favour and don't waste money by renting this game and another one at the same time. Trust me, I rented Final Fantasy 9 at the same time as I did this game, and FF just sat there by my VCR as I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning tending to my crops! (not knocking FF9, it's just I couldn't bring myself to hit the OFF button on my PSX to actually play it)!
| hARVEST MOON GAMES ROCK | | ******* Zierler from Wisconsin, Usa says (23/Jul/2003): | hey back to nature is a great game i give it a 10 of 10. i luv it. i like how u can cook and allthe festivals r alot funner than on the 64 game cuz u accually do stuff in most of them my favorite is the chicken and tomato festival my favorite girl in the game is pourpi cuz the pink hair rocks but she is so hard to mry so i went to my second favorite elli some things that i dont like about it is u cant have a kid a far as i no if u can well then i didnt no that i also dont like that u have to pay for ur upgraded tools even though it is more relistic i dont like. some things i really like about it is the sprite these guys really help me out with my animals cuz i always forget to feed them an it takes forever to milk and brush all the cows. I hope harvest moon doesnt go to a new system cuz i bought ps2 just for the 3rd one ( which i hate ) i wish they wouldnt try shard on th graphic and would just try to get a better plot. like u can chose to be a guy or a girl. like if u where a guy u would do the same old stuff but as a girl u would need to get a job somwhere in town to raise money for a bigger house and u would still have the crops on ur farm for food and stuff but not the animals u would have to get married to get the animals or something. well just a thought like it will ever happen. so just a reminder to natsume if u ever even visit this sight try less on graphics and more on the plot i hated the plot and graphics for hm3: save the home land.

| | F.C Edradan from Philippines says (16/Apr/2005): | the game is totally awsome! i learned a lot more things about this game! no one can replace this game! i was addicted for this game for 5 years. the graphics, music, characters and the festivals. when i played this game i never slept for 3 days. i just played and played until i reached the 4th year. i never married a girl for 4 years and aja came back! it is sooo cool! when i married her my farm was extended!!! i never imagined!
to all those losers who did not like this game!!! i say to you all "make your own game if you don't like to appriciate natsume's masterpiece!"
and to those who are addicted!! THIS GAME SIMPLY ROCK!!!!
FARMING IS THE BEST!!!
ohhhh... here are some tips for newbies...
during the summer(when Kai is home), there is always a hurricane. If you find a bottle, go talk to Kai the day after a hurricane. He'll fill your bottle with perfume!!!
to make "quick money", you have to have one game file(And I think it needs 2 Memory cards). Make sure you have a cow or sheep on your game(adult)... Copy your game on to the other memory card, and go into the game you want to make money. When you go to sleep, choose the "Exchange Animals" option and have an animal come to your farm from your other copied one. Sell the animal, then repeat this process over and over. got it??
that is all i can give you hehe.... ^_^
P.S. don't use gameshark coz it can give so many glitches and removes some fun out of the game..
| HarvEsT mOon RocKs! | | GeoMaRC PanElo from Philippines says (27/Aug/2006): | so okay, i'm on my 3rd year, and i married popouri :D, and we have a son, named after me :D, anyweiz harvest moon is like the bomd, at first i thought it's stupid, but day passes and i found my self playing harvest moon so addicted, i would sit infront of the PS for like 10 hrs a day, then again. But i learn a lot from this RPG! that life is really hard,if you don't have goals, i love participating in the town festival, my favorite festival was the tomato and swimming festival. 3 of my cows have gold milk so as my 3 chicken. The fist animal i bought is the chciken then i use the egg put it in the incubator, then if der some eggs left i sell it. Plant any kind of flowers, probably 8-16 plot if possible, then after the flowers bloomed there will be a bee hive in your tree. And i learned that there's a "fairy thingy" in tha fall, near the spa, everyday between 10:00 am til' 3:00 pm den if your lucky she will give you a powerfruit. If you palnt lot's of grass then cut it if possible it will turn into fodder, and really saves me money. I always won the 1st place in swimming festival, at first they gonna give you powerfruit, Then etc.. I love the "house sprites" during summer i visited them, probably 3:00 pm then i'll have their favorite fruit for gifts, then all i know i'm on their tea party, they gonna give you a "tea", a very rare tea! it's only once in a year, so i always take my chance! so all i can say now is HARVEST MOON ROCKS!

Ann likes spa boiled egggs.
And popuri is in love with the pink flowers of summeerr !

IloveeIt! Um what else.. to spa boil eggs just thro them in2 the hot spring and they bounce back out boiled.
The easiest way to clean all the weeds off your farm is to wait till winter and then dont let them grow bak in spring coz they all disapear in winter.
the winter mine is in the middle of the frozen lake.
i cant think of wat else youse wood want to no but yeah.

| The cycle of addiction | | The Cheshire Cat from Wonderland says (13/Jan/2004): | I remember when this game first came out I decided to give it a little rent. You know just incase its actually not some stupid chick flick of a game, fair enough. I pop it into my Playstation play abit and think, "This is ok. Nothing I would buy or anything." How nieve I was...
After you start actually playing this game the incredable simplisity grabs you. A scheduel becomes set in the virtual days, you get into the groove of things and while nothing major is happening for some reason the little things start to matter. You will manage your time between the basic four things in this game: working the fields, taking care of your animals, gathering nateral resources, and socializing with the villagers. Although it may not seem all that complex, but like Tetris you get quickly addicted. After days turn into monthes and monthes turn into years you really begin to feel for the town. You get to know the people, learn there stories and maybe even get married and start a family. And for whatever reason you keep coming back for more, one more day becomes a basic phrase in your vocabulary when your family is pestering you into going to that dreaded non-farm related job.
The game is well made, and wll some may not see the simple beauty in it, I found myself spending hours and days of my time living out life on my farm. For someone who is looking for a little something different I tip my hat in Harvest Moon's favour.
| This Game Rocks !!! | | Selena from Singapore says (5/Mar/2004): | This game is the BEST game ever! I'm in the 4th year now,I married Ann and I have a son (able to crawl),Ann won't marry me for some time cause my house is not extended (maybe because there is no bed for her to sleep) but once i extented my house...she married me! And you know what I give her every day in the mornings? Ans: hardboiled eggs...I just have to carry all my eggs in my large racksack and throw them into the "pond" (forget what it is called) and give her all of the eggs...she seems to like the eggs alot. I have quite alot of recipes too, I even won the cooking contest! I like those festivals and special events in this game...oh! and I remembered asking the "dawf-like creatures" (sorry about that,I have forgotten some names) to help me water plants, look after animals, harvest crops,etc...they are really helpful! but you have to give them something in return because the hearts will decrease...by giving them things, the hearts may increase. My dog, also have puppies! with hana, the dog at the sheep/cow farm. The puppies are sooooooooo cute! and sometime I will carry some small animals back to the farm but they disappear after a short period of time. Of the 4 seasons,i like autumn most as there will be soooooo many stuffs to gather up in the woods. (mushrooms, flowers, etc) So in autumns, I will become very rich...opps, I think I typed too much,I will end here. Remember...harvest moon ROCKS!
| Can't stop playin! | | Pigeon from Watertown, Wi, USA says (19/May/2002): | One of the best games around. I had never heard of it before, until one day, I was at a game store, and saw it for sale for $20 bucks. So I bought it and took it home. It was kinda confusing at first, but I soon got the hang of it. Pretty soon my mom was yellin at me all the time because I was glued to my PS2. Love the horse, except for when I had to push its dead ass into the stable every time it was gonna rain the next day. Funny how the the animals freaked when I cut it with a sickle. (Only did it once!) Now my chick is pregrant and I have $300,000 dollers, 10 sheep, 10 cows, and 10 chickens. I feel sorry for Gray, his grandpa shouldn't have been so hard on him. The tomato fight took some time to win, kept getting shumcked by tomatoes all the time! Same with the Opening Day. Had to restart, restart, restart and restart some more. But it sure felt gooding watching my dude eat the Power Berry. There is tons of stuff to do, fishing, lumberjacking, knocking your chick up, (Although I don't know how they did it since they sleep in different beds!)
Wish there was more animals, maybe in the next game, we could have ducks, goats, cats, steers, and more. Hopefully someone who works on the games will see this!! Plus, whats up with the no meat thing? I think we should be able to eat our cows, sheep (Lamb chops anyone?) and chickens. There would be tons more repices if we could!

| It Could Have Been Way Better! | | Laura from France says (9/May/2003): | This game completely sucks!
You can't go into the bedrooms, you can't enter in anybody's house hardly in any place or in any time! You should be able to go wherever you want whenever you want like in some other games! The Harvest Moon Back To Nature Game is one game that hasn't any business being in the stores to be sold to displease a Customer. I am highly dissapointed with this game. You have to level your tools, you hardly get any money, you are an Outcast which is not fair at all! You should be equal to the other Villagers. You aren't even inculded in their stupid stinking village! I hate this game! It sucks! Destroy it! It is not at all the game which deserves all this admiration from all you mindless clones following it! Now, if you shall excuse me, I am going to go play my Ultima game in which I can pretend all the Harvest Moon Back To Nature creators are the outcasts and I can teach them a lesson by not letting them anywhere for a change. It's time Harvest Moon got destroyed. It sucks ass! I won't be attending this discussion board. It's pointless, but I just came in here to base the complete truth on Harvest Moon. Did you guys know that the Harvest Moon creators are all homo, druggies and achoholics? I guess you know now. See you. I am not coming around here anymore, so see you for good. Think carefully over what I just said. It's nothing but the truth.
| Simply amazing...and cute too ;-) | | Lydia from Malaysia says (20/Sep/2003): | One of my most favourite game. I fell in love with it when i first saw the game played by my niece. I started to ask her to tell me all about it. And then, guess what? I was already in front of the t.v playing it. No dogs or horse or cows or sheeps or chicken can be any cuter than this one. Their festivals are nice and cool too, especially the Goddess Festival. Honestly, the Chicken Festival and the swimming competition can make my heart beats faster than the speeding bullet. I enjoyed cooking the most. Everytime i cook in this game, I get to enhance the original recipe which will make me win in the Cooking Festival. So far I haven't win the Horse and Dog Race, yet! But I will keep on trying to train my horse and my dog (with a little help and tips) until they win the races. The graphic in this game is wonderful and I love the music they play (although winter's music is quite moody). But as they say, grapic and music is very important in a game. And I do think that this game have the perfect combination of both of it. Among all the girls, I prefer Anne. I also don't really know why. Love at first sight? Nah. It was just a thought that she will suit the main character most. I definitely will recommend this game to everyone I know. No doubt about it. And as for me, I will keep on playing this game even when I'm too old for it. *Laught Out Loud* \(^o^)/
| NOTE TO LOSERS!!! | | Katie from Canada says (9/Jan/2004): | First of all, I'd like to say to all those people that are dissin` Harvest Moon, to keep there opions to theirselves! You obvesily have NO heart, because you don't realize how hard these people worked to create such a wonderful game. The only thing you are doing is making enemys by offending people! Oh! To all those people who think "Pokermons" are better, they arn't. I have NO problem with the Pokermans, because so many people like them! Secondly, I'd like to say Congratulations, to all the people at Natsume! You made a wonderful game, and I don't, personaly, know anyone that does not like this game, and from where I am, alot of people like your game. I personaly love it! You did an outstanding job! Thank-you on behalf of all my friends, and family who like this game. There is only one more very important thing I have to say, could you please put all the Harvest Moon games on all the diffrent systems? I realize you were bought to do otherwise, but some people arn't that fortuant, and can't afford all these systems. Myself, I only have a Playstion 2. I cannot afford anything else. Sorry if I am being rude, but I am just saying, so many people like your Harvest Moon games, and wish them all to be put on the diffrent systems! For example; You could put the Game Cube Harvest moon: A Wonderful Life, on Playstation 2, and vise versa. NATSUME ROCKS!!!
