Capcom lets a fan down once again......... | | A gamer from Hamilton, NJ, USA says (16/Apr/2002): | Capcom has let me down again. I can't understand why any X fan would give this game a high score, because the truth is that there has not been a good Mega Man X game since X4. Here is why.
They make all these stupid changes in attempt to add replay value, but they do not realize that they are doing the exact opposite. I hate that stupid armor system. You should get armor and be able to use it right away. That's the way it was and the way it should still be, PERIOD!!!! I hate that it's possible to go to the last 4 levels without beating the 8 guys first. There's absolutely no point to playing the game at all that way. It's so limited. It gives me a headache. I also found the story very weak in this game. At least in X5 they tried to make it interesting, even though they failed miserably. In this it was just like "Ok we'll do whatever." I hate Alia, Signas, and all those other stupid dorks. I don't care to see my time, # of mavericks destroyed, damage taken, get stupid parts I'll never even use, listen to info on the boss I just destroyed, bla bla bla etc between stages. Whatever happened to just getting the weapon and moving on? I don't want a drama in an X game. I want a good game. I found most of the bosses just plain pathetic. I thought Shield Shellfish was a good idea (even though he basically was a rip-off from Armored Armadillo) and would have changed his patterns just a bit, but just about everyone else was pathetic. Some of the weapons were cool, but not cool enough. Some of the stages like the recycle lab and the central museum are just living nightmares. They're so repetitive you just want to go out of your mind. Also, I really think they should not have had Zero back in this one, at least not as playable. It just makes the games more confusing when you can play as either one anytime. You have to decide who gets what in terms of heart tanks, and that blows. It was better in X4 when you could only play as 1 or the other. Also, what happened to the anime? I'd like to see some anime with a manly-sounding X.
The only reason that I give this game a 3 instead of a 1 is that I found some of the music appealing, and the sound of the explosions was slightly improved. Even though they increased the challenge if you raise it to extreme difficulty, it's still not fun to play. I really think Capcom has destroyed one of their most popular franchises and I hope that they have lost a lot of fans. Hopefully they'll have enough sense to resurrect the series by making X7 back to old-school the way X4 was.

At recess we'dd play it all the time and question the plots like if Zero was really a girl or guy and little things like that. Then I got my first copy of MMX and I loved it. It had a unique gameplay and story, the kind that keeps your hands and fingers constantly moving to avoid danger or to sneak in a shot at a Maverick, like before Chill Penguin would pummel you, lol, and several years later I slowly lost sight of the series until about 4 years ago when my cousins got into it. As a result they got me hooked again and I remember coming back five times that summer to just to play the MMX game and its sequel etc. It was great. Then when I went home I discovered that MMX4 was in stores for the Playstation and I figured , why not?, so I rented it. At first I was a little worried if the gameplay suffered but I did like the anime clips, I think that the detail, as crazy as this will sound , made it different from the short stubby blue bomber that everyone loves, and the fact that you could use Zero was cool but I liked personnaly Idolizing him as a powerful figure not a playable character. Finally drawing to my point, As X5 and X6 came in to the picture, not only did they remove the Anime FMV movies but the Mavericks suck. I remember when I would practically tell all the kids at school when I had finally beaten Chill Penguin or Launch Octopus and they were acctually evil! Not these stupid investigators! And the stages in X6 are HELL!! In particular, that Blizzard Wolgang guy, Heatnix and Metal Shark!!
And Im sorry but I think Capcom is running out of names about as bad as I am running out of space to write. So I guess, Capcom please do something about the gameplay, the anime, the NAMES, and THE OVERALL GAME ITSELF!
I must say though that I do like where the story is going. And for those of you who liked the game, I don't hate you, it just must be that you haven't grasped the true feeling of the original MMX's. So anyway may those of you who are like me, find rest, and those of you who like the game, try harder to grasp the feeling of the game.
| Megaman is finished | | Clay Jolly from halifax says (21/Jul/2002): | I'm an old school gamer and I love old sidescrollers. Castlevania, Contra, and of course Megaman. Most of you younger gamers out there have probably never had a chance to play a REALLY good Megaman game, ie, back on the NES. Those were the days. I remember when levels required skill and accurate shooting and jumping to complete. If you were good you could beat a level without getting hit or even dieing. If you didn't have the skills, you'd die for sure. In MMX6 you can run into everything, shooting wildly, and chances are that unless you're killed by one of the lame juming traps or falling celings you'll never die. Old bosses had clever patterns to their attacks and the weapons that did the most damage against them actually made some sense. The bosses now are huge, stupid, and require no skill. The old weapons were actually useful in the levels, but now I wonder why I would ever use anything but the normal blaster. All these new weapons suck (and are virtually no different from older X version weapons). The music was catchy back then but now I can't hum a single tune of the new stuff (while I still find myself humming the old tunes now and then). The plot is also garbage. Things made more sense with Dr. Wily causing all the trouble. Basically, the X games haven't changed from the first one on the SNES (and that one was a lot more fun). And all but one or two are really terrible.
I could go one for a long LONG time why this game is no good, and I must say that if you think THIS is a good MM game, you really don't know MM at all.
If you consider yourself a MM fan (and despite all these bad games I still play and beat each one) then you owe it to yourself to get an emulator off the net and pick up the old NES games, in particular MEGAMAN 2! Megaman 2 is still in my mind the VERY BEST megaman game out there, even if it was made around 15 years ago (probably before most of today's megaman fans were born).
So please, no more reviews on how this is the best megaman game ever. You don't know what you're talking about.

Bad things first: First off... The poor translation: I would like the game better if everyone in the game actually spoke English. Second... The difficulty at the beginning... Also, I really like the music on the opening fmv [both songs] it would be nice if you could here those songs in their intirity. Also how you get a message from the girl at the computer on how to do something you already know and am in the process of doing.
Good things about Mega Man X6: After getting used to the new level of difficulty of Mega Man X6 I really started liking the game. Also, I like the fact that my favorite maverick hunter, Zero, is playable in this game, but to my dismay, I got him about half way through, but in my game, he is more powerfull then X [in my oppinion] and I almost never use X anymore. What is also cool about the game is that since the first Mega Man X game, you get one more power-up each game for X. Also how Zero has a double-jump. What I don't know is how X can actually beat such a force as Zero unless he holds back. X-Saber or no X-Saber. The new armors are also a plus.
Also, on the ratings on 5 or below...The people who give ratings like that spend their life playing sports game or car games, deeming games like rpgs or games like this "too hard" and giving up. Or maybe they figure graphics and rock music is what makes a game, but Mega Man X fans like me know better, and that is why I am giving this game an 8.

| despite a lot of annoying japanese, a great game nonetheless | | james from ann arbor, mi usa says (17/Dec/2001): | i was into this game so much that i played for three days straight and beat it on easy mode. if you get zero right away most of the bosses are a cinch if you have the right stuff especially with the continue function. i dont know if the new weapons compare with those of past games, especially with x3's weapons, but the new armors are really cool. i have yet to play with zeros black armor which ive heard looks pretty rad. you have to play through almost every level three or four times to actually get everything so theres a lot of playability and the stages have effects that change after you beat them, like rocks will fall or itll be really dark the next time through. and the non-traditional stages were cool too where you have to race through the stage to kill a giant robot thats shooting lasers at you the whole time, or kill a bunch of giant wheels that shoot green blobs at you.the only problems i have with this game is the really pansy sounding music with the japanese guy singing and all the characters talk in japanese. im sorry, but id like to understand what theyre saying with the use of badly translated subtitles. the voices were good though. and i STILL wish theyd bring back the password system so i wouldnt have to use up the space on my card. and hey capcom, i think its time for a new playable characer, another maverick hunter would be nice for x7!
| Mega Man X6-yet another brilliant sequal! | | Jack Midwinter(MC Xtreme) from England. says (26/Jan/2002): | This Game rocks being as X in the Dragon armor.Many of you people might refer this armor as the "ultimate armor" but I prefer Dragon cuz it makes him look like a dragon really so I don't care who says what-the Dragon armor rocks mate!!!Mostly I enjoyed X actually for the 1st time in the X games(unless u cheated on X3:P) actually USING A LIGHT SABRE!!! Yes the plasmatic sword has finally fallen in the hands of our favorite blue bomber hero!why didn't Capcom think of this before?The sad thing about the game is that it's only got 1 proper movie in it and that's about it.If only they put some movies in like from X4 this game would have had a better look while listening to the plot.nevertheless,the drawings looked cool as usual(what would you expect?It's Megaman isn't it?!!?!?) but come to think of it really the gameplay has taken ALOT OF STEROIDS and also the graphix have been PUMPED UP quite a bit.Zero's new slash looks cool...I did not like the idea of a "nightmare Zero".He was so called "hard".if you really want a challenge with him don't take any armors whatsoever.That's what I would do,but right now the hardest boss had to beshield shelldon.:Sman was he a bugger!!!

| Mega Man X6 huge let down | | Stephen Gregory from California says (13/Apr/2002): | If you only read one review on this game make sure it is this one. X6 could have been a huge jump in the series. They levels now are mindless puzzles to open doors. We all know what the real veteran of the series likes.... Less puzzles and more maverics to kill! Moverics don't even appear in this game. Hell not even Sigma! They bosses are just investigators who don't hand over their Nightmare souls! They aren't even evil! It is really just mindless and as for the voice acting it sucks why Japanese voice for the english version? They only do it so that because if you can't speak the langauge you really can't tell if it is bad voice acting. And the Japanses punk rock at the start what is with that?? They levels too! They had really bad music and the levels themselves ripped off the old levels from X5(which was better in every way!). One of the most dissapointing things in the game was the Falcons Armors lack of being able to fly! They took the ability that make the Falcon Armor what it was and trashed it. You might as well start off the game with the Fourth Armor. This game had potential it could have been the best but with the lame story and insanly hard levels with stupid bosses it had take a step back from where X5 had taken it.
| This game is the pwnZor | | RaZiel from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada says (30/Jun/2004): | The only thing I have to say is this game ROCKS!, but I also have to say that the clay fellow up above who wrote the very horrible review, you have no taste, yes I will agree that MM2 is a very good game, but the comment about the bosses being challenging, and having interesting patterns???? please, those games lacked the one thing that the MMX games have today, re-playability, admit it, you most likely play the games for the NES beat them once, then moved on to something else, only to have those said games collect dust in your closet, I found this game to be very refreshingly challenging, I had no real trouble beating it, and the point to these games is to have fun playing them, not getting frustrated with the difficulty, and I think Capcom did a superb job at finding this middle ground, the music was a little contrived, however that's not everything, the graphics were the best to date, and the new types of armour definitely added a new twist, I happen to like the shadow armour the most, to top it all off the levels kept changing, my god when was the last time a game did that, wow I'm definitely liking this, this game has a permanent place on my game wall, and that's saying quite a bit, seeing as not many get that honour.

Granted, some of the bosses were pretty tough, a lot of them were extremely easy. The best thing I like about it is Zero's new moves. That's about it as far as the game play goes. The thing I hate about it the worst though is they still have not brought back the anime fmv movies. To me, that seems pathetic and lazy. That's what I liked about X4. After they lost that, I think Mega Man took a big nose dive. I do have to say though that I like the story line. That was good. If only other aspects were just as good. Another thing that really bugged me was the shadow armor. I thought that it was useless except for the fact that you could walk on spikes. You can't even use the special weapons and that is what Mega Man is supposed to be about. I haven't obtained the blade armor so I can't really say anything about it yet. I won't be expecting much. Even if though, I have my opinion already set. I've been playing Mega Man for years and have got to say it's probably the worst one I've played yet. That and X5. I don't know why everyone is so hyped up about it, but if you ask me, they have totally ruined the Mega Man X series.

I thought the Falcon armor's flying ability made it too cheap so I'm glad that was taken out. Zero's controls were much easier than the others so I was able to kick more a$$! The story was ok, not perfect. I also liked the fact that Capcom kept the origanal voices and subtitled it, it gives it a real anime feel to it.(Plus, the Japanese voices are alot better than the english ones) The intro. and ending themes were also great! And finally, the challange. The game was much tougher than the other X's which gave a real replay value.
Bad points: There could have been some anime sequences like in X4 which would have made the scenes better. The nightmare system made some level extreamly frustrating! Especially with floating neon guys hitting you out of nowhere or those stupid lights giving you limited range of vision. The music for the museum was...ARRGH!! Finally, Sigma was by far the easiest boss in the game...I beat him in less than a minute with Zero!
All in all, the game was great, buy it today!

It had the best graphics, best sound, best music, it was hard and there were a lot of puzzles. The older versions of megaman sucked because they were too easy. I finish each one in one day, i think the story line was good, it was also well planned. Falcon armour unable to fly was good, for people who said that that was stupid, they're stupid. like your suppose to read, not just flip through the talking parts. I liked the gameplay, it was challenging and exciting, there was always something new. The blade armour was great. gaps were a breeze with him. shadow armour was mad. i finished the game with him. i don't really mind that he can't use the powers from the bosses you defeated. his a ninja, ninjas don't steal moves from other people, they have their own. I don't really like the falcon armour, even in x5. flying, thats just boring, theres no point playing then. when i was able to use falcon, i finished the game even quicker then usual, but i just can't wait for x7, but for now, x6 is the best!

I think this is a great megaman game the Graphics are just about as good as 2-1/2d graphics can be. The Aspect of havign 2 save the Reploids is great so u just can't run through the game just shooting. Its good that the Falcon armor can't Fly that was just cheap in X5. Bad thing Why did u get ride of the Gaia Armor I really Liked that armor It was soo kool looking but the replacement Shadow Armor IS great. If u are looking at this page and ur thinking abotu getting this game get it its a great megaman game and u will have 2 take some time on it the levels are kinda anoying with the Randomness but thats ok i think this is a great game over all... I done so have fun X and Zero Fans! Closing remark I CANT WAIT FOR X7!!

You see, i gave the game a 9 rating because it was nearly impossible to beat. Why? because of the traps and the outnumbering Nightmares. However, here's the good reasons:
1. Megaman finnaly gets sabre use. Why not? Zero had a buster as well.
2. The blade armor and Shadow armor are useful. and for you guys out there, the gaia armor IS the shadow armor. WTF do i mean? to Hell with you guys! just because Shadow had a charged sabre! it's still the same nonetheless, and can't be hurt by spike traps!
3. The bosses are quite challenging. You can never expect what they'll do next.
4. LIke megaman series, it's alway about the armor's parts that make you want to touch them! B)
5. FINNALY A SHOWDOWN WITH ZERO!!!! i always wanted to test X against zero's powers!
And to those guys who neglected this game so bad, go beat the game without the Ultimate armor and on Hard mode.

When I play it I only get enraged thinking how good the series could be in this day and age, and I'm not talking 3-D. I have played every X game and I believe that the series was at it best with X3 ever since then it has been getting worse and worse. I can tolerate X4, it wasn't totally bad. Nevertheless, I was praying that capcom would give the series back its original fun factor with X5, but it was terrible and X6 is even worse; I can't believe it!! The graphics are just terrible, lacking any style what so ever. The level design is really hurting, there is only a handful of enemies to kill, killing them is zero fun and the levels and enemies are what Mega Man games are all about! Like I have emplied already, this game has NO fun factor or polish. For gods' sake Capcom move your crap team off of the X series or give it up! *Note: if you have played the X's on the Super and love them as much as I don't disgrace the series by playing this game!

I have Megaman 2, X3, X4, X5, X6, Megaman Legends, and Megaman Legends 2 on my console Playstation. Commonly I have a little bit problem playing X6 and ML2.
Megaman X6, it is the greatest game of them all, I have a copy of this game in "ENGLISH VERSION", sorry for those who have japanese version. The sound are cool, even to the power and skill of X and Zero. But there is one enemy I do hated most. Its Infinity Mijion. He is one enemy that really makes me mad and burn my head out. Graphics is also nice and still no changes on the graphics surroundings, the ganeplay is very radical, awesome, cool, magnifisent, woow, great, hardcore and best of all, it's hot-stuff. Lifespan of the game may be not that so good because this game is meant to be hard.

| Great but x4 and x5 were better | | DarkZero from USA, Thats all you need to know ;) says (21/Jan/2003): | X6 was diffrent from previous megaman x games, This time instead of just blasting your way thru levels you need to solve certain puzzles to advance further, But i liked this because it was something new. Now the things i really disliked was first how easy the game was to beat ((I beat it on Hard mode in 2 days!)) High max and Gate put up a good fight but until i figured there patterns it was easy with zero. You do see some enemys from the previous X5 game like dynamo ((hes awesome!)) but there biggest mistake was bringing back sigma! he didnt even look the same he was a zombie! And his transformation would of looked better on gate instead. And in zeros ending he is put to sleep for 102 years. ((thus thats were megaman zero comes in.)) Anyhoo, X6 was a great addition to X series overall but if it could of been a little more challenging and had more to it then i would of given it a 10. Hopefully X7 ((if its still even coming out)) will be better.

Maximum-Zero about the anime cut-scenes, they were one of the best parts of x4, and without those the story isn't as vivid as it could be. I also think that they are trailing off of the main idea set at the end of x3, that x must ultimately destroy zero to save mankind, which is what they show in more detail in x4: how zero went maverick when he was discovered and how both he and x worry about becoming maverick at the end of x4. And they enemies get weaker and weaker as you progress throught the game, although infinity minjion and high max were resonably challenging, every thing else was easy (even in extreme mode!!!).
If they could just bring back the anime cut scenes, make the bosses harder,quit going into misadventure plots,and maybe put it on a playstation 2 disc so they can't complain about data space, they might just be able to resurrect this awesome series.
| Not Mega Mans finest hour! | | Korrie from Kansas, USA says (23/May/2003): | Ok, first of all, I would like to say that this game was WAY too easy for me. The bosses were SO incredibly easy to beat! I was seriously able to beat some of them within under 10 seconds! And I couldn't believe how easy it was to beat Sigma on his final form. With Zero I was able to beat him within a 1 minute time span if even that. As far as the graphics go, I thought they were fine as any other megamanX game. The 2-D environments work well for the megaman series. The music and sound quality was fine as well. The music deffinately fits well for each level. Altogether the gameplay wasn't the best. There again, too easy. And the translations of boss names would've made it a lot better seeing as how this was suppose to be an english version. This deffinately was not Mega Mans most glorious moment. Overall, I was rather disapointed in this game. I can only hope that X7 will be better!
| Very good game | | XeroStrike from my, house, duh says (24/Apr/2004): | this game was good, and jmark x isnt stronger but has the ability to become stronger, without power-ups x sucks but with the s or u armor he is near invincable where as zero is always around the same strength and they ripped zero off, in the show(yes they have a mmx anime WITH zero) zero is near invinceable andnever seams to get hurt and when he does he just shrugs it off(like when he had NO legs and ONE arm) and x7 is pretty good, a new guy called axl shows up he is pretty good, he has hover boots similer to u armor x only it lasts longer and he can copy his enemies(normal ennimies like nats, bees, ect.) and zero is excalent, only he DOESNT have his spin slash jump, x sucks he shows up AFTER u beat about 4 bosses and its annoying listening to his preaching, if he work at a peace church hed be the best preacher there.

Everyone knows zero's the best he alway's makes the game fun and interesting,(and he has the cool soward and hair)! But I have to give x some credet I mean he does kick ass with his cannon,(and he is cute)! I give ths game a 9 out 10 baby! this games rocks and it's a must have! so go out there and kick sigmas ass!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE ZERO, X and THIS GAME!!!!!!!!! Thanks for hearing me out! You'll be very happy if you get it put it on your christmas or birthday list.This is the best one so far well I need to play x7 wich I haven't but my friend and online review's said it's wicked good!
