Cool but consusing |
| Max Minchuk from Everett, Washington USA says (24/Nov/2004): |
I think this game was a bit confusing. Like when I went to the playoffs i used sonics against the timberwolves and i won with sonics but the timbetwolves went to the next round. And when you go onto the challenges i went to 15 rebounds and i failed but my team had more than 15

Ok for a PSone game. |
| Loco from Jersey City, NJ says (27/Dec/2002): |
This is probaly the best b-ball game on the PSone. The graphics are decent, but they get very corn and choppy at times. Player close-ups are horrible and the basketball isn't even 3D. The crowd is ugly, when u get a close-up. A lot of players look corny, like Shaq and Kobe. Some player's looks did get updated like Jerry Stackhouse. He use to have hair and then he went bald. The uniforms are good looking. The court detail looks ok. I really hate the create-a-player option. Players have ugly hairstyles and no corn-rows. The headbands look alright once u put a player on a team. The gameplay is ok, but it gets too slow or too boring at times. The announcers are more conscious about the statistics and player's bios. Mostly, this game wasn't all that if you weren't a real b-ball fan. The soundtrack stinks real bad. No rappers like on 2000. The features of this game are good like 3-point shoot-out and 1 on 1. The whole game is kind of corny if u ask me. The only chance of getting the most out of this game is playing the challenge mode or season and that's it. This game is alright, but it really sucks.

The game was exactly what I expected being a basketball player and all |
| Jay from Australia says (21/Oct/2002): |
When I first played the game I thought it was a bit hard which is good because I like a challange. But once I got to know the controls it became easy and addictive.

-michael- the game was not what I espected it to be like! |
| Michael hines from Chicago,Illionois says (29/Jun/2002): |
when I saw the previev I thought wow, but when I got the game the word disappointment comes to mind. First off the commentary was bad hearing the same phrase over 10 times in one game. In terms of graphics it could have been better. I'm tired of buying game after game to find some good nba game. what happened to the dunking contest, three point shootout, and just the whole saturday rookie all-star game. I also didn't like the music during gameplay it should have the same music that is played in the nba and not just three or four. now lets talk about the fans and the starting line up. what would be cool is to see some fans wearing jerseys, shirts, towels, and signs of the teams thats playing, more for the home team. the starting line-up introductions stated off pretty well, but come on I'm trying to get fired up. why can't you do the real introductions and where is the mascot, cheerleaders, and man how come the people doing the commentary aren't moving their mouth or anything for that matter. The timeouts should be longer and should dig in deep to hear what not only what the cach is saying, but also the players.have 20 second timeouts too. players should be able to talk to the refs and the other way around. At haftime this is how it should be players shooting aroundand have you seen norm van lier in action breaking it down for you. there should be two people ina studio talking out the situation of the game along with the highlights. just like nba 2k2 live should have thescores of over games going on also highlights of those games at halftime or after the game.oh wow how could Ihave left this outduring gameplay period some fans should be looking for a seat or comming in. If their team is losing some fans should leave others boo their team, encorage, stay quiet, but in the closing minutes when the game on the line especially in a playoff game the crowd is loud and on their feet, players on each side of the bench and head and assisant coaches on their heels waiting for the final play of the game. finally I would want say is when you finally win the chanpionship david stern should be giving his speeches and the trophy. The court should be filled with players exited jumping up and down congraduating each other shake hands with the losers. filled with reporters taking snapshots intervievs have players babies and families. i mean at this point of the game should be the most pleasing after all of the work you put in to get there.

i was good exept for one thing |
| william from puerto rico says (9/May/2002): |
This game is perfect i really like the whole salary thing and the retiring thing and the draf pick is awesome made the game real realistic but what i disapointing is the create a player mode the box said you can put headbands which are not in the game and they had to much stupid haircuts i mean i dont want a freak playing and the facial hair the ones that were cool where painted in blonde or somthing so thats some thing i would like fix for the next game and it would of been better if you get to chopse if you argue with the referee but i did like the grafics and the bands and the tatoos

Good lookin', but lackin' a bit upstairs |
| Joseph from Queens, NY says (28/Jan/2002): |
Don't get me wrong, it's up there with the quality of sports games I come to expect from Electronic Arts- but with the new capabilities of an xbox game console, I found it to be a bit lacking in some areas.
First the good stuff- graphics are amazing. The game looks and feels great while playing. It isn't glitchy, and keeps its smoothness through cross-overs, spin moves, etc. The alley-oops are enough to make any real basketball fan say "Oooh sh-nap!"
The announcers sound great during gameplay, following the action much closer than I expected they would- the comments are very relative, and sometimes even helpful as far as hinting < remove me > at what you're doing wrong or right.
Now some of the things I didn't like- the options are limited. There's a great 1 on 1 mode, but that's pretty much it. There's no option for 2 on 2, 3 on 3, or any other street style play (I figured the Xbox' capabilities they'd take more advantage of that).
The practice mode only allows you, one player, ONE person on the court, to run around shooting. There's is no mode to practice as a team. Now this was really disappointing. No practicing alley oops, setting up the 3-point perimeter shot, no fast breaks, lay up drills, dunking drills, no "true" basketball practice mode as a team. Just you walking to the local street court and shooting around by yourself.
Also, it's tough to get an idea of how to perfect the jump shot- there's no meter option. When you shoot, you just have to keep on shooting jump shots and hopefully, through trial and error with different players in different situations from different distances, you'll be bale to get a sense of how long to hold down the button before releasing for the shot. The usual meter option is a great initial help before gong into an advanced no-meter mode.
Them there's my 2 bits....
alright...maybe 3 bits...

NBA Live 2002- Incredible, but could be better |
| Leo from South Africa says (26/Jan/2002): |
I really liked this game, this must be the best from the NBA series;but I dont give it 10/10 because of the body graphics, the face graphics are really cool. This NBA is awesome in overall, especially the NBA challenges: they're really challenges.
I congratulate EA Sports for this great game.

I think this game could be alot better. |
| Chris from Rio Hondo TX USA says (17/Dec/2001): |
I think that the teams arena's should look like they do in real life, like the stands and championship flags. EA SPORTS seemed to be pretty lazy making this game because Horace Grant of the Orlando Magic still has green goggles that he wore when he played with the Seattle Supersonics. The goggles he wears are now blue, to match his team; I think EA SPORTS should know that already. Also, the dunks have not changed a bit. Don't get me wrong, I like EA SPORTS, but they could have done better. I hope EA SPORTS does a better job on 2003.
