THE BEST FF EVER. | | Lianse from Paris says (27/Dec/2007): | I love this Final Fantasy. It's my fave. :) It has that deep storyline that lures you in if you can understand it. To those who don't, Tsk Tsk. Those that can't beat the game just need a little patience and effort, but since they want to convince themselves that FF7 is the best, they put their controller down and grumble and complain about it.
To all the people who say the Junction systems sucks, it's probably because you don't like to think and use simple strategy. Honestly. And the storyline is perhaps one of the deepest ones ever, as the characters are not the same cliche' personalities. The characters have a unique backgrounds not like those in ordinary games. And besides, I don't even like that girl in FF7, whats-her-face, that girl who was so pathetic and died in the end. FF8 is so much better than FF7. I'm not exactly dissing FF7, it's still pretty good, but I don't honestly understand why people love it.It's not THAT great. Come on, I like FFX better than FF7. But honestly, all FFs are good and you shouldn't go insulting the storylines since I doubt you can make one that's as good as an FF story so there.

The music was pretty good too. Well anyways, I never played FFVII but from the reveiws i heard, only losers and total dorks liked it. But hey i don't really know much about it do I. All i can say about that is it's probably a good game but who cares. I think people shouldn't get so worked up about things such as a video game. It's really lame when you think about it and it's immature. anyone in my opinion who has the time and patience to write a reveiw totally bombing one game and praising another is a dork. You may want to know why i chose to write one or you totally hate me right now for even writing one and telling you all this and it's because i thought it was needed. I think that Most FF games are kool including FFX-2. I know a lot of people thought it was stupid but I never really understood why. It's a game you try it once and see if you like it and it was the first FF game i played and i happened to like it. So (fill in blank) off FFX-2 haters!! Well I like FFVII and X-2 so now what FFVII lovers. Anyways I hit my limit on this reveiw.

My all time FAV. is 8 I can play this game none stop never get bored.only when I got to go to the bathroom. my favorite GF "Gardian Force" is Bahamut. I loved how they made em come out like that. Juctioning is very EZ to under stand."to me" just follow what they say. I liked the fighting style they hade for these games ff7 vs ff8. magic uses: hmmm I can say that they both have very good ways of use. stories of both games are very very very good. I loved final fantasy games, ALLL of them. I hope they never quit making these games. I hope they make a movie of ff8 like they did ff7 that movie is ASOME, just needed a little more magic use in it. now for all you guys n girls out there that don't like this game just fined some thing in it you like and stop complaing about it. Final Fantasy games rock! any one that don't like these games might not have played them. so im asking the ones who have not played these games to please grab a coppie sit down and play read undestand the game then tell what you like about it and don't just sit there n say that game looks stupid. take my word for it they are some pretty great games.

I mean, honestly, the big plot twist nearish the end (as retarded and unlikely as it was), was EXPLAINED AWAY WITH A SINGLE LINE OF TEXT. Seriously! This game is like playing a bad episode of Star Trek.
Leveling up GF's is Far Far Far Far Far too easy, and the rewards are pointless, and as for the never ending limit breaks.. thats just lame. Zell is the only saving grace for this game, but that might just be coming from my unhealthy obsession with Sabin from ff3.
honestly i'd rather poke out my eye and shove my thumb in my brain than play ff8.
I gave it a 3 only for these reasons:
1. Squall CONTINOUSLY gets the $#< remove me > at ! kicked out of him
2. Zell was an awesome throwback to sabin's blitz's
3. Blood in the opening cg.
Final fantasy 7 was head and shoulders above 8. Hands Down, there is no comparison. Every aspect of 7 was great! the storyline, characters, side quests, mini-games.. everything!

If you want a story where you can actually choose any path for the story or want to have a game where you are not talking to a wall, try ff8 it is the best of them, oh and for the idiot that says the whole junction system sucks, it's just a step up from materia you numbnut so unless you want to diss your own stupid game, and im not sayin that I wouldn't play ff7 but seriously consider that square-enix might have made 7 before 8 and that that would mean unless their crazy 8 would be better.

| A Final Fantasy game that deserves to be right up there with the BEST in the series. | | The Artieful from Ontario, Canada says (27/Oct/2005): | i'm personally very tired of people dissing final fantasy VIII because they are too stupid to understand the story themselves. they just go ranting on about the gameplay and the plot in a VERY biased manner and don't take the time to give the game a bit more thought.
masamunist said that the villain is one that you never grow emotions for. well maybe if people payed more attention instead of constantly telling themselves that final fantasy VII is better they would've figured out that ultimecia is rinoa. and they would've also figured out that ulemicia/rinoa was compressing time so that she could bring squall back to her time forever. if people are too stupid to understand the amazing story behind this game it's not the game's fault. i really hate thick headed people that force themselves into thinking that VIII sucks just to keep VII on their number 1 list. so contrary to what you said, ultimecia is VERY characterized and you grow A LOT of emotions for her if you would actually understand the plot behind everything (and if you don't, go look it up cause there are TONS of forums that discuss who rinoa being ultimecia). the game tells the REAL story in forms of symbolism and incomplete text, but OBVIOUS clues make the story something truly unique.
for it's time, it boasts very good graphics and over the top CGI.
and when it comes to gameplay, just because there is no materia in it that doesn't mean the game automatically sucks. if you're dying for materia go back and play VII some more and stop complaining. the music in the game lives up to the name of final fantasy, though there are some songs with lyrics in them which do sound a bit corny, however i find it odd that nobody's complaining about the horrible song that came at the end of FFIX. the characters in the game are something different than you're regular old cliche party that came from God knows what army and God knows what organization and makes it a bit more simple. gameplay wize, the game is something that will admittedly take some getting used to if you've played other final fantasies before this, but it is not a burden that you will NEVER learn your whole life that will come to piss you off to no extent like what other FFVII fanboys say. and finally, if you ever DO happen to come across this game, be sure to know that it is one that requires you to THINK about the story to understand it's true meaning. once you do it was can truly turn out wonderful. and all i can say is that final fantasy VIII is a game that lives up to the final fantasy name. I have beaten all final fantasies from VII to X and know what i'm talking about. i'm not saying FFVIII is may favourite FF, but i'm not saying FFVII is either. they are both damn good games and both deserve an equal amount of respect in their own right.

With Sephiroth you had the WHOLE GAME to decide whether or not you hate him. I for one think he's one of the main good points of FFVII- an excellent vilain makes an excellent game... most of the time anywayz.

I mean on FFVII you could just use and Ether if you MP run out but on FF8 if you run out of a certain type of magic 1) it lowers you stats and 2) you have to run across the world trying to find the monster from which you nicked the magic from. It's just stupid.
And just to add another point, when Rinoa and Squall were in the Ragnarok $#< remove me > at !pit out in space and Eyes On Me started up i literally laughed and thought that they did it on purpose to diss stupid romantic music. But then i ran into forums where people were saying 'ooh ooh eyes on me is so brilliant...' GAG!!
and the end music sounds like the crap that my old Pokemon gameboy games music. btw who around here managed to get to ultemcia's last form on 1HP after like 45 mins of using strong magic and then ultemicia suddenly gets pissed, uses like 5 strong moves in a go and beats the crap out of you, because that's what happened to me. THe last battle is just way to long and boooooring. I'm gonna have to go waste another 45 mins of my life trying to beat ultemicia just to see the end movie- because that's the main reason why i actually keep playing the game..

| One of the Best | | MoonShadow from Sydney says (16/Sep/2005): | FF8 was my first rpg game. After seeing a friend summon a GF it looked so amazing. once i started I was hooked. At first it looked very hard, but once i started getting use to junctioning I never called on a GF again. I got most of my characters STATs to 255 exept for luck and something else cant remember. The love story is great. I liked Rinoa, but i really liked Squall. He has a personality which i could understand. I think the difficulty level of this game was pretty low, since 2 lionhearts will kill anything(and you can make it come out pretty often) except for the secret monster in the castle. I had to actually fight that one using a strategy.
The graphics was really good (for it's time), and I really love the music, especiall the scene when they first got into ragnarak ( my favourite scene). I dont use magic often when playing FF games (only healing) but once you get your stats high enough( like I did) you could actually get more than 9999 damage in 1 turn without using overdrive(??? its been a while), so magic is really powerfull. There are a lot of tricks when juctioning to make you players immune to a lot of things and also absorb spells if done right. Actuallyh i thought FF7 was a little bit more difficult, probably because you have to level the materias which took a long time to do.
Over all I loved this game(along with FF7 and FFX), but didnt like
FF9 or FFX-2, but this is a deffinit must buy.

I've been playing it for only a year, but I've finished it four times. (Unfortunatly, I have never beat Omega, yet. I'm going to try this time, currently I'm on my fifth time through and just about to go into Balamb, Galbadia have just invaded looking for Ellone.)
I absolutely love the Balamb Garden, Deling City and Eyes on Me songs. The Liberi Fatali one is also fantastic.
I agree that VII and IX are very good, but none will ever compare to VIII. Sorry, it's just the way it is. To all the reviews I read on VIII's side, can't be bothered listening the names, your reviews were all fantastic. xD
I just love the fact that Squall is changed over the course of the first three discs, although, I think it would be rather nice if he was with Selphie.. Him and her are my favorite characters. She WOULD be a bit of a handful for him though, wouldn't she? So hyper.. xP
The only character I dislike (No offense to her fans) was Quistis. For some reason, which I don't know, she came across to me as $#< remove me > at !y and bossy, like she always wanted her own way. Although, I think that makes her perfect for Seifer. It always seemed to me as though FFVIII fans had these perfect couples in mind: Squall, Rinoa. Selphie, Irvine. Xu, Zell. (For anyone who DOESN'T know who Xu is, it's the girl who helps everyone evacuate the Garden in disc 2, she's also the Heart in the CC Quest.) And then Quistis, Seifer. Oh, and Edea, Cid. But to me (my deranged point of view) it would always be Squall, Selphie. Zell, Rinoa. Irvine, Quistis. I don't know why, but I think they'd all fit together perfectly.. xDDD
Anyway. Here ends my review. THUMBS UP FOR SQUARENIX MAKING THIS GOD-SENT GAME! WE LOVE YOU! Please find a way to make a sequel.. you'd make crap loads of money, because I know I'd definetly buy it no matter what the ratings were.

The story, the love scene, the characters (Zell... I LOVE your style, men!), the secret GFs (the thing that makes me MAD, because Ican't get all of the GF, altough i have played it for five times!!!). It's perfect!!! Untill now, I have been finishing this game for 5 times, and has a plan to finish for another five times! But maybe, the thing that was kinda dissapointing is the ending is not so good. I mean, it's just showing the characters when they had defeated Ultimecia, not their final ending (But actually, the ending was very touchy... I almoust cried!!!). But I wish Rinoa could marry Squall... I don't care what people said about this game, but I surely said that this is one of the best game that was made by Square. I just wish that Square will make a movie of it, like what they had just done with FF VII. Zell--Zell

First off, I {heart} Squall Leonhart. I adore the song Eyes on Me. I crave for hotdogs {because of Zell!}. The gameplay was fantabulous. The storyline was very nice. What more can I say? Yes, I understand that some 'things' in FF games are the same {for instance, the GFs and the darn lead male characters that don't know what to do but to hate the world and everything in it}, yeah, that was kinda annoying but this is ridiculous. 'The game sucked'!? I don't know how you can put those words together! Look, I also like FF9. I really do. But in terms of graphics, they're just plain.. similar! The characters.. well, I like FF8's characters because they are more realistic. The abilities were similar to most of the FF games.. and better! Who's not tired of playing the black mage, the thief, the knight and such!? {I know I am} The gameplay was fantastic! And the storyline {although I really wasn't satisfied with it} is an 8 out of 10 for me. If this game sucked, then all of the Final Fantasy sucked even more. Because of this game, I learned that gaming consoles existed.

Anyway, I really like FF8 because for me, it's so romantic. I only wish that Quistis became Squall's love interest but.. Rinoa's nice too. I adore the sounds {especially Eyes on Me and the er.. sound when you're at Balamb and when you're at the Balamb Garden} 'coz it's very soothing. If you ask me, I'd play that game all day long if I can! And before I forget, I enjoyed using the 'Friendship' item, it was awesome! For me, FF8 is much more unique than the other FF games. How can you say that it's a game so bad that it should not be allowed in this world? I admit that I'm only a beginner in the gaming stuff but what I know is that FF8 never ever sucked! {Whoah! That rhymed!} Darn it, I know I should've done this but I found 117 results for FF8 hatelistings.. but found 908 results for FF8 fanlistings! In your face haters!

The music was interesting to start with, but after a while you'll probably wanna press the mute button. the weapons are sick, but not till you get further into the game (squall's are so wicked by the end!). the limit breaks are cool, except for irvines, but then again, i just don't like him. Oh, god wonder how many people are gonna kick my ass for saying that?! lol, scary. so yeah, overall, awesome game, great buy, y'all are probably gonna ignore this, but i got nothing to do, so whatever. oh god, need chocolate... haha, i hit 200 words, i hope, ok not yet, umm, just ignore that, slightly hyperactive, not my fault. awesome game.

The only advice I got for you closedminded FF7 fanboys is that you better deal with change because not all games are gonna be the same. To me a different battle system, story, and characters are a good thing(in most cases). It gives you more exsprience as gamer and it also makes it easier to play different games. But if you don't want to like this game, it's fine, whatever. Just don't ruin it anyone else. Let them make up their own mind instead of pushing your opinions on them.
