right this game is kool. I have read other peoples reviews and have discoverd that the battles were not liked because they were different. I personally believe that the battles being changed ahve been changed for the better because you can use your G/F ( also known as summons to all you ff7 fans )more than once. The graphics for the g/fs are stunning but they take to long which when your on a time limit is a problem because you dont have much time. There are loads of thing to find in this game and to get everything on it is almost impossible. i did it and it took me almost 5 month. There are cards in this game to collect which also make up a little sub game where you play random people in the streets and if you win you can win cards off them but in some parts of the ff world there are different rulez. Some regiens have different ways of playing which can make thing difficult so you have to master each of these rulez. The limit BReaks are stunning especially Squals limit break lion heart which if you have the rite level and meteria level can cause 9999 for every blow and there is about 15 blows so you can wipe out a boss in one limit break. There are loads of magic in this game and you can now draw out magic for baddies in random areas on the map for your self and your party members. There are other specials that your summons can learne to like giving you more strengh or risitance to a type of element. You can shop in the iddle of know where because one of your g/fs can get you anything or you can turn potions into magic ro magic into items. Its all stratagy based and you can do what you like when you like. The graphics to be honest arnt nothing to write home about but the thrill comes when your character moves around in the fmv. When your in a FMV sequance..its really a backdrop so the backgrounds are moving and look real and your player moves around and it looks amazing..it has to be seen to know what im talking about. There are many places you can viste some that arnt anything to do with the story and you can just fly, or go by train or boat there........you carnt ply to places until the 3rd disk after you have been to space. Also to this stopry is the other side....yo play as squal for most part of the story but in some places you play in the past as a mecinary called laguna and his pals. This all adds up to the final plot at the end where you fight the future soucer ultimicia.

I hated this game so much. It's storyline was horrible. What a boy and his posessed girlfriend. FF7 and FF9 were the best ones ive played for playstation , but FF8 was just awful. The graphics were ok and so were the summons but the game doesnt grab your attention. AS i said before FF7 and FF9 are the only ones worth buying because FF8 is just a ripoff. The juctioning and use of magic werent any good and towards the middle of the game you just want to quit because the story was so lame. I've been having debates with my brother that Cloud or Zidane can kill Squall without a problem. I mean look at his weopon , a gunblade , Cloud can whoop him just with the buster sword. Man i even think squall is gay the best things about this game is the summons graphics and cut scenes. Also Laguna Kiros and seifer were the best characters in the whole game . I'm tellin ya guys this game is nothin good. Especially the ending , youd hope for something happy and exciting since the game was sucky but nooo. If someone gives me this game for christmas or somethin id rather stomp it into the ground. that is why i give it only one star just because cluod can beat Squall up and piss on him when hes dead. Oh and remember that Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children is coming out soon so get ready to watch it.thats my review about this game and i think you shouldnt waste yur time playin it ( especially the half hour floating in space )PEACE

i do belive that this is one of the best out as its more realistic than others the fmv's put ps2 to shame accept ff10. Seifer should have had a bigger role to make the traitory more effective and more emotion to game. A few floors in game, Quake triple and demie avalibe in too high quantites at such an early stage. The junction system effective the enemy lv up with yours effective acept omega when comes nxt to impossible Originality is what sold the game people dont like change. ff10 magic system crap. FF7 a new landmark and is wot continued the series and it was actually hard to max out stats. FF9 not bad but boring parts let it down not a bad magic system either. clever with the magic sword and summons in the game that destroy everything yet when you finally recive them you were unable to cause any real damage. another queery how come you tem mates that arn't in thhe main 3 travel with you and never level up (accept 7) this has always been an annoyance to me. Final 11 was a new step in briiliant fmv's and interaction as they were unable to speak. But again you have to get to know the charactors in order for an emotion to be felt sins evil and tragedy was not felt

im tired of everyone bad mouthing FF8.i don't know why everyone is fighting about which game is better when they all know that FF8 was the best. they're just not going to admit it. i mean FF7 was so lame and didn't even have a point. and FF9 sucked as well. thats why i didn't even waste my money on them. i borrowed them 1) because i had nothing better to do. 2) because i thought they would be at least a little fun. I WAS WROUNG. and 3)was because i had heard all kinds of good things,what i think is crap now, that the games were worth playing.i had almost lost hope for the final fantasy series until FFX came out. plain and simple FF7 fans if you think that junctioning is "dumb" and the only problem with the game your having is that you can't junction then maybe video games just aren't your thing. try channel surfing if thats not to hard for you.if you think that Your FF7 is better then FF8 then email why i love to hear you lie about what you really think.

Final Fantasy VIII was a satisfying game. It had its ups and downs. First off, I've visited most sites and reveiwers were saying how much some battles got annoying. Well, I'd say this, those battles were for you to level up and become stronger to defeat the final boss. Also, others say the love story wasn't "real enough". This was a game, of course everything will be fast moving to keep you interested. The love story took sort of a fairy-tale approach with Squall and Rinoa. Which was good. It would be believable for me because its a game.
Also, many people said the game was too much of a Squall and Rinoa deal. Of course, if you look on the cover, their the main two on the cover. In the intro, I kind of new the young woman dressed in blue was on the young man dressed in leather. The other characters also had their major parts also. First, they were joined by fate. Second, they were with Squall throughout the whole game. Third, if it weren't for the others, the main character wouldn't have made it to the end.
Of course, that's their opinion, if you like the game, you like the game, if you don't, then you don't. Everyone has their own taste.
The graphics for the game was great. I enjoyed it very much. The makers of the game did a very good job at making the characters look real or believable. The characters personality was great also. Each had their own personality, making the game enjoyable.
The storyline was good also. It made me actually think that this world could be real. Every thing that happened in the game or more specifically, the major events in the game was back up, which is very important.
As for the battles in the game, they were good also. Of course it could get annoying, but that's normal.(I guess) What I liked about it was the way squaresoft set it up. Magic, weapons, Gfs, hit points, etc. All of this is kind of real. (except the Gfs and Magic) The experience points are just like this.
Think of a soldier, the more he battles, the more stronger and wiser he gets right? So, if the soldier battled new things, he'd get wiser. The soldier would be able to know how to deal with the enemy. I think others kind of got lost in that fact.
The enemies were thought up well. It explained how all of the living animals were born, great back up.
Over all, this game was good. I'd highly recommend this game for anyone. It's easy to follow and play. Very challenging. ^.^

Dis game is crazy.It has every thing u need 2 be a great thinker.U need many stategies 2 beat dis game.Squall (Da main charater.)is da best person in da game.His gunblades r hot as all.Best gunblade is da lionheart.It is da best weapon in da game.Plus his limitbreak named lionheart is good.Zell is da funniest/dumbest in da game.When Seifer makes fun of him its mad funny wat he does.Selphie has problems.#1 she's 2 nice.#2 Why doesn't she tell Irvine 2 shut da hell up.I already know she hates his sniper sharpshootin ass.Irvine is cool but juss can't get any girls.Rinoa really likes squall and squal likes her. Every 1 can tell. Quistis is a good leader but shares 2 much of her mind.Da GF's are cool.my favorite is Shiva.She got da hottest move.When da graphics go crazy and show Squall jumpin and stealin cars its crazy.Also when Irvine da "sharpshooter fires his gun and Edea blocks dat junk is hot 2.Laguna and his crew are funny.Especially Laguna n Ward.If u need any help wit da game e-mail me.~1~

Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion but some of the comments here are based solely on the negatives of the game. I mean this is an epic game. This is a game that makes you think. A perfect blend of drama, comedy, and romance. All the characters are tied together wonderfully. Personally I don't like the main character very much but he's supported by a very likeable cast. What's good about this:
+An enticing story line that surpass any previous rpg I've played. (Including ff7 which i really liked ; LOD ; all other ff's excluding ff6; xenogear)
+Characters that you come to love (i.e Laguna)
+Best graphic of its time.
+A decent battle system
+Enjoyable sidequests
+Monsters no longer drop coins (u now earn money the real way - working for it)
+/-Long
What's bad:
-The GF sequence(taking way too long w/ no option to cut short)
-Laguna not being the main character
-Battles not interactive enough like vagrant story/LOD/Legend of Legaia)
To sum it up, an excellent rpg experience to say the least. The minor flaws are overshadowed by an engrossing story line. Please note the best age group to play this is between 16-21. Below or above this age group will not appreciate it as much. Btw, I can't believe there are ppl who still havn't play this game.
And the reason why the characters forget about their past is b/c of the drawback that comes w/ equiping GF.

I would have to agree with the one other review which shares my oppinion. The only good things in this game are:
Graphics ( 10/10 ) Fantastic graphics, way better than FF7 will ever be. At least in FF8 peoples arms don't pop out of the backs like in FF7.
Battles ( 4/10 ) The battles are just the same as any other Final Fantasy.
CG Cinematics ( 11/10 ) Awesome Cg's! These are the best parts of ANY game!
But then there's the storyline . . . . . . ( 0/10 )
The storyline sucks. What kind of people would FORGET that they all went to the same orphanage and would FORGET that the enemy was their matron? Whu would GFs make you forget stuff? What is wrong with these people? Whoever wrote the storyline of this game was either really lazy or really stupid.
Then we have sound ( 8/10 ) The sound got really repetitive.
Gameplay ( Errr . . . it's okay, 7/10 )
Lifespan ( It got good until the screw up in the stroyline 5/10 )
Originality ( 10/10 the storyline is crap . . . but original )
Value ( 0/10 )

Final Fantasy 8 is by far the best game I ever played! Even better than FF9! It is simple if you know what you are doing but some of the battles are difficult, but thats the sort of games I like, challenge! The GF's are awsome, the monsters are radical and the graphics are fandabidozi! Worst.Game.Ever.FFVII is still my fovourite ff game.8 is a total disaster.like,it had the worst story,GF's made it WAY TOO EASY,characters were bad,junction was weird,everything was SO blurry,the weapon upgrades were dumb,the card game was lame(9s was good though),Square failed to make a good love story,there was no front row or back row in battle like 7 and 9 had,characters moved sorta slow in battle,the sound when you attack sounds like someone $#< remove me > at !ting,the space scene was lame,spells did extremly low damage(fire3 in ff7 did like 2000-3000 damage and firaga(ff8)did about 200-300 damage if you were lucky),the characters looked about as big as buildings,everyone was so skinny,the personality of the characters were pretty stupid,a bunch of cool characters(the only cool characters to me were seifer and laguna)were not playable,the SeeD thingy was stupid,the fact that the 2 other characters you had in your party(besides squall)copied whatever you did was annoying,there was no materia or jobs,the characters looked gay,the battle graphics were bad(infact,i believe that ff7's battle graphics and squat-like graphics are better than all of ff8's graphics(except the movie scenes)),it wasnt very customizable,the junction COULD MAKE EVERY CHARACTER EXACTLY THE SAME,you can play the game once and return it to the store in a few hours and finnaly,THIS GAME SUCKS.

THIS GAME WAS HOT!!! It gave me a thrill with squall jumping on cars then trying to assinate.There was so many spectacular GFs my personal fav is the legendary Gilgamesh, i always get 9999 with him.Squall weopons is r so cool, and the alter ego thing was cool too,and a lil spoiler Laquana is squall father if anyone did not know.all i can say is this game rocks!!

Obviously the worst FF to date. I rented this game one day, and thought Wow... Sweet opening sequence. But after playing it, I kept getting confused on the frickin Junction system, which is a poor idea where you can use a Guardian Force things to raise your stats. And also, they have a even worse idea. The draw system, where you "draw" magic out of an enemy for your use, so if you run out, you have to draw some more. Customizing weapons was a decent idea, but you could end up fighting the final boss with the weapon initially equipped.Also there are no treasure chests. No mp too.
Square really let me down on this one. FF7, anyone

ff 8 is one of the best in the series, the limit brecks are awesome the battle system is great.the newly introduced GF system is great giving you an extra edge in battles cutomizeingyour armor, weapon ect
It's just one of the best final fantasy games ever made

from my obviosly title you've probably figured out this is the best game i've ever played and probably think that i think this is the best game in the world. i think it is so good I ended up playing it for 38 hours straight! i think it is so cool for these reasons:
amzing graphics (for a ps1 game)
great junction system
amazing gf's
fantastic weapons (espicialy the lion heart)
great limit breaks
interesting characters
and of corse a great story line!
i think it is completely original because have u heard any thing like a student training to be a mercenary ending up fighting a sorceress and saving the world? cause i sure havn't. the main boss opennent's are really hard but thats what makes it interesting and challenging imean if all the bosses were easy we'd think it was a really boring game instead of the great game it really is. i think the hardesd opponent is not ultimecia or ultimate weapon, i think its omega weapon. i had all ,y people at level 100, had all their best weapons, had all the gf's, all junctions to each of them and i think ihad every kind of magic juntioned and he still manged to beat me with just a amazing two hits! TWO HITS! which has never been done to me before so if you have any pointers i would really apreiciate it. my favoriite character is squall because he's a bit like me a quiet person who keeps to him self and trys not to show others his true feelings. my favorite limit break is the lion heart it looks so cool, kicks ass and does a hell of a lot of damage. i want to rap this review up by saying ff8 rules! e-mail me and give me your reviews.

This game defys the rules of a good game in fact it's one of the best ****ing games I have ever played it's so **** good you practicaly become a slave to the game I almost ****ing tryed to take it whith me where ever I wen't. this game's story is impecable
I loooooooovvvvvvvveeeeeee Leon's gunblade that thing is just so **** cool!!!! the graphics are great my stupid friend almost fell in love with one of this game's hotties.This game's play is so ****
good I almost forgot the combat is turn based it felt real time. The only thing stopping me from peading Squarenix (wich used to be

this is one of the best games i've ever played its got amazing graphics for a PS1 game and the story line is definatly the best out of ff7-X but can some one give me some tips on beating omega weapon cause i'm having loads of trouble with him, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. my favorite bit is watchin giglamesh but the crap out of seifer on disk three but on the end clip I think we should see more about what happeens with the characters future but apart from that definatly the BEST GAME EVER.

I thought it was absolutly great although i think we should be able to see more of what happens to rinoa and squall in the end clip and i think their should be a final fantasy VIII-2. my favorite parts were watching gilgamesh kick the crap out of seifer and gaining the ragnarok but i hated finding the white seed ship and beting ultimecia.

It was great it had everything cool graphics, music and the romance it was a work of art made by Squaresoft
The mini game here was cards which would keep you hours playing cards all day its a story of love, hate and rivalry it was one of the best made by the best Final Fantasy 8 is a game that takes you off the end of your seats and into a fantasy world with a 17 yr old Squall Leonheart who was the main character who ends up with his friends trying to destroy an awfull sorceress and bring peace to the world but they cant do it without your help so help them restore peace back to the world
Buy it its great!
8/10 FF8!
