I love it. I love it, I love it, I love it. To the CGI's to the touching sceen's on the Ragnarok, this game is the best. Who could hate it. Well Chilly Willy would, but he's just stupid and has a rod up his butt that has a rod up it's butt[ yes I got this from The Simpsons]. Buy this game. Don't give a hoot about the price, ir just rent it or something, just get your hands on this game.

those of you that have never played this game are completely missing out!The graphics are awesome and the short moives completely tie in with the game.The draw syatem I find is the best,simply because in the other games each player can only have certain magic and ususaly I only use one or two of them for common battles,but in ff8 whoever or all can have powerful spells like ultima and moeter.And the way the gfs are mixed in the with the game I find is just great,you have to draw fight solve puzzels and the fact that they are extremwly important to your game because if you don't have at least one junction with some magic then you'll have a tough time.Oh and just to tell you I've every ps final fantasy several times(except 10 way too simple for me!)I've played ff8 the most(going on 8xs) and I still love it and want to play it again and again!One last point the R1 tringer makes the battles less well boring and simple.Oh and the relationships in the game is what got me hooked and I think the next final fantasy should follow 8 more.

Final fantasy 8 wass a great game both story wize and graphics wise. how ever it had a few down falls mainly the hole money thing personaly i like to earn my money the old fashion ff way.. ff 8 was far better then ff9 was i mean come on people i thought the point was to make the game look as real as posable.but in ne case it paild in comparison to Finale fantasy 7 then came finale fantasy X which in my opion is un matched.well there is one eception i doubt ne body will agree wit me but my all time fav and the game that got me hooked on the Final series in the first place }final fantasy 2{ ps: cant wait for final fantasy X-2 and final fantasy XI to come to the US. pss:: what ever happend to ff 4-6 seems like they skiped a few.

youre gonna luv this one its originality is excellent the graphics and movie clips are shere masterpieces and the characters seem so real you will get lost in the plot and all the imaginative storylines behind this game! no other final fantasy could compare and i have all up to 10 so i should no you just wait till you see the opening movie clip...out of all the ps2 games and all the others i choose final fantasy 8 and will stand by that! no other game could have such an impact on you no other game could make you cry when you see characters in near death circumstances or when raine dies...but hey its not all sad but that is all im saying you'll have to complete it first and if you get stuck just email the master! ENJOY! :-) x

Ok, as you've probably guessed by my title, I hate Rinoa. She is a preppy spoiled brat, and I feel sorry for Squall to having to put up with her presence. Now that that's out of the way, on to the game itself. I thought this game was really fun, with lots of in-depth characters and a great script, but there was one thing that seriously drove me nuts. Of course, I'm talking about the magic. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT!?! I'd be fighting some huge thing with 20,000 hp, and I'd cast, oh...let's say Ultima, and that would do, like, 250 damage. Ooooh, he's hurtin' now. The only things that actually worked in battle were the GF's and the characters..oh, what are those called? Those special skills they can do. Squall's Lion Heart was a reeeeeally good one; in fact that's mainly what I used to beat Ultimecia (A long and very very very hard thing to do) And I really still have no idea what happened at the end. I'm so confused.

this game has got it all!!!it may be old but you would never know! just look at the graphics! the plot has a meaning unlike most games!infact it has lots of storys behind it! you get to junction magic spells rather than mp!call upon gf's-great entities of power and interact with loadsa scenery give this supreme game a go and im sure by the time you've seen the opening movie clip i can guarantee you'll be hooked...!

It was great it had everything cool graphics, music and the romance it was a work of art made by Squaresoft
The mini game here was cards which would keep you hours playing cards all day its a story of love, hate and rivalry it was one of the best made by the best Final Fantasy 8 is a game that takes you off the end of your seats and into a fantasy world with a 17 yr old Squall Leonheart who was the main character who ends up with his friends trying to destroy an awfull sorceress and bring peace to the world but they cant do it without your help so help them restore peace back to the world
Buy it its great!

wat i love about of this game is its the storyline of this game its got everything a storyline need there some love, there some betrayle, action and so on. FF8 is like the best thinf ever but the only thing i wish is that if the graphs was like ff10 then it would be even better.

Well, dispite what some of you seem to think, this was a great game. Now, while I think it wasn't as good as Final Fantasy 7, it was still very fun to play. The junction system is a truely unique, and I happen to like it. It is tedious, however, to have to collect all those spells and draw so many times. It is a love story that I can only describe as brilliant. The personalities of the characters are well done, and their disigns are eye-candy. The limit break system was also a little out of the ordinary, because the only real way to get use them was to be low on HP. That makes it difficult beacuse chances are you will be killed if you don't heal yourself, but if you heal yourself, you won't get the limit break. The graphics are very good for the time this game was released at, but they haven't aged well. Well, even if it is rather generic, I'm going to give this game some ratings. (Many of you have rated this game unrealiastically, though.)
Graphics: 8.5
Gameplay: 9
Story: 9.5
Playability: 9
Fun: 9
Replay Value: 7.5

Let me just start out by saying what the hell is with everyone on this forum saying, oh i LOVED either FF8 and hated FF7 and FF9? or that they thought that FF9 and FF7 were best? I dont get you morons! its just a game made by the SAME company! you act like your fighting about who's console is better. And DONT start fighting about that either. My point is just accept the fact that some people act retarded when they own one thing and bad mouth something else just because they dont have it. I own FF7 and FF8 and am borrowing FF9 right now, I loved both FF7 and FF8 and now i'm begining to get interested in FF9 so why do people have to argue which main character would kick who's ass? well for one the only main character that wasnt a midget or kid in those three was squall. And one person on here said why would they have forgotten about being in an orphanage together becuase they used GF's? what about ff7 and the planet getting its "life" sucked out if it? Just accept the story as FICTION. Jesus $#< remove me > at !ing christ, its not supposed to take place on Earth. And its just a game, play it and enjoy it for what it is and if you didnt have fun, dont tell people who did enjoy it that they are stupid and are gay. Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion but some of the comments here are based solely on the negatives of the game. I mean this is an epic game. This is a game that makes you think. A perfect blend of drama, comedy, and romance. All the characters are tied together wonderfully. Personally I don't like the main character very much but he's supported by a very likeable cast. What's good about this:
+An enticing story line that surpass any previous rpg I've played. (Including ff7 which i really liked ; LOD ; all other ff's excluding ff6; xenogear)
+Characters that you come to love (i.e Laguna)
+Best graphic of its time.
+A decent battle system
+Enjoyable sidequests
+Monsters no longer drop coins (u now earn money the real way - working for it)
+/-Long
What's bad:
-The GF sequence(taking way too long w/ no option to cut short)
-Laguna not being the main character
-Battles not interactive enough like vagrant story/LOD/Legend of Legaia)
To sum it up, an excellent rpg experience to say the least. The minor flaws are overshadowed by an engrossing story line. Please note the best age group to play this is between 16-21. Below or above this age group will not appreciate it as much. Btw, I can't believe there are ppl who still havn't play this game.
And the reason why the characters forget about their past is b/c of the drawback that comes w/ equiping GF.

i do belive that this is one of the best out as its more realistic than others the fmv's put ps2 to shame accept ff10. Seifer should have had a bigger role to make the traitory more effective and more emotion to game. A few floors in game, Quake triple and demie avalibe in too high quantites at such an early stage. The junction system effective the enemy lv up with yours effective acept omega when comes nxt to impossible Originality is what sold the game people dont like change. ff10 magic system crap. FF7 a new landmark and is wot continued the series and it was actually hard to max out stats. FF9 not bad but boring parts let it down not a bad magic system either. clever with the magic sword and summons in the game that destroy everything yet when you finally recive them you were unable to cause any real damage. another queery how come you tem mates that arn't in thhe main 3 travel with you and never level up (accept 7) this has always been an annoyance to me. Final 11 was a new step in briiliant fmv's and interaction as they were unable to speak. But again you have to get to know the charactors in order for an emotion to be felt sins evil and tragedy was not felt

Ive wrote alot of reviews for stationplay and ive been dying to write one for this game. The Final Fantasy sequels are up to number 10 but this game has: better graphics than 9 more discs than 7 and pretty equal to 10. The junctioning system is superb, all the GF's with cool abilitys, new characters and an oppertunity to be them whilst running around, new weapons and a tale of love, hate and danger. The missions can be intense and the cut scenes make the game squaresofts best yet!! note ive seen both 9 and 10 and i have to admit 8 has all that and a super adventure.

I just love FF8!!! Its like so cool. im sixteen and i fell in love with squall! coz he looks so real unlike cloud or zidane who looks lyk a freakin monkey!! Tidus is also cute. the draw system took me forever to understand but i loved every bit of it. the game is so hard and long but its worth it. just to see squall calling out my name is the best thing in the world. Rinoa is so cool! I luv this game Contact me all you Squall look alikes, but u have to be 16-20 yrs old. Im a rinoa look alike and i act like her to!!

I'm in the middle of my third time playing this great RPG. What's nice about this game is that there are many characters that are unique and attractive. (Quistis rock on!!) I do admit that I would be lost without the guide. I know everyone has different tastes but having characters that LOOK like people is a great idea! I've played FF7, 9 and 10; they're also okay, but not as good as FF8. The music is good, and the draw system, I think, is simple and easy to understand. It is very time consuming, but it is very rewarding when you beat the game. The movies are beatiful and I love how each character has their own 'entrance movie'. The Laguna, Kiros and Ward sub plot was confusing, and a little boring, but it all made sense in the end. This is truly a great game, and I recommend it to anyone who has a lot of time available to play these RPGs and is willing to enter the beautiful world of FF8.

Wow the graphics on the game are amazing but i can't get past the guy on the communication tower!! The Music is good too. its really fun!!! The lifespan is long too it's kinda hard to die the gameplay is awesome!! I hope lots of people get it and have lots of fun with it too

This is the best game ever made for any game console. Nothing even came close to having a plot as good as Final Fantasy VIII. After watching some one show me how to play i got addicted to the game. I could not stop playing it when i got it my self. The thing that maid me like this game the most is that it is a actual challenge. It took me 7 days to get to the final boss but when she transforms into the gf i get a whooping. That is really i got addicted to it. I kinda winged until then but then i went back and got all the gfs i could, and the amazing Final weapon for each person. It was hard but really fun cause i got to max out all the gfs levels. They also have all the elements which is pretty awesome and unlike 9 they dont make up magic that really does not make sense. The thing i hate about the game is trying to get to the ultimate weapon every step i take i get into a fight and it takes to long so i just turned the game off.
Overall rating: BEST GAME EVER

this is one of the best games i've ever played its got amazing graphics for a PS1 game and the story line is definatly the best out of ff7-X but can some one give me some tips on beating omega weapon cause i'm having loads of trouble with him, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. my favorite bit is watchin giglamesh but the crap out of seifer on disk three but on the end clip I think we should see more about what happeens with the characters future but apart from that definatly the BEST GAME EVER.
