The battle system and junction system were really cool, really unique but some parts in the story were kinda corny. Like when they suddenly realize thier all from the same orphanage.I also wish they didn't make Griever use Shockwave Pulsar.I thought they could have made it a little longer like FF7. However I do have some good parts too. I like the fact that they made the people look like actual adults, unlike FF9 in which they looked like 10 yr olds. I liked the GFs. They made them take a whole new picture by adding these abilities. It was like FF6 because you would equip espers and learn magic but not abilities.The graphics and music were totaly cool.The ending was alright, it messes with your mind. I also though Rinoa and Quistis were hoooooootttttttt. Sorry Selphie. I loved the way they made Limit breaks.The best would be duel or renzokuken. I think slot would be a distant third. So uh anyway overall it was a great game.

Ok, as you've probably guessed by my title, I hate Rinoa. She is a preppy spoiled brat, and I feel sorry for Squall to having to put up with her presence. Now that that's out of the way, on to the game itself. I thought this game was really fun, with lots of in-depth characters and a great script, but there was one thing that seriously drove me nuts. Of course, I'm talking about the magic. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT!?! I'd be fighting some huge thing with 20,000 hp, and I'd cast, oh...let's say Ultima, and that would do, like, 250 damage. Ooooh, he's hurtin' now. The only things that actually worked in battle were the GF's and the characters..oh, what are those called? Those special skills they can do. Squall's Lion Heart was a reeeeeally good one; in fact that's mainly what I used to beat Ultimecia (A long and very very very hard thing to do) And I really still have no idea what happened at the end. I'm so confused.

I would have to say that final fantasy 8 was the best ever! I have played all the final fantasy games and i am addicted to ff8! I have probably played more then 2 dozen times! I absoulutly love the game. The music was just-just fantastic!!! Eyes on me was a great song. Th characters were very nice. Th story plot was okay...i mean it mainly focused on squall and rinoa and left the others out which i thought was very dissapointing since i had grown very attatched to Quistis. The ending was well worth the wait..I loved this game the short movies were wonderful I only wish they had voice overs if they make it into a ps2 game, they better put in voiceovers...And i hope they release ff8 gaiden..they didnt want to realease it ...i dunno why...The music was wonderful i hope they put quistis into kingdom hearts 2
other then my complaints, THIS GAME WAS AWSOME! it's a game you won't waste your money on

I'm in the middle of my third time playing this great RPG. What's nice about this game is that there are many characters that are unique and attractive. (Quistis rock on!!) I do admit that I would be lost without the guide. I know everyone has different tastes but having characters that LOOK like people is a great idea! I've played FF7, 9 and 10; they're also okay, but not as good as FF8. The music is good, and the draw system, I think, is simple and easy to understand. It is very time consuming, but it is very rewarding when you beat the game. The movies are beatiful and I love how each character has their own 'entrance movie'. The Laguna, Kiros and Ward sub plot was confusing, and a little boring, but it all made sense in the end. This is truly a great game, and I recommend it to anyone who has a lot of time available to play these RPGs and is willing to enter the beautiful world of FF8.

I can't really recommend this game, and you knowwhy? This story' character such as Zell, Selphie, Quistis Laguna, Ellone, they are't centered much. You know I prefer the minor one rather than the ill-headed Squall. And the childish Rinoa.
They story is a-okay but it Squall that make the whole thing destroyed. And I mean it. Don't buy it if you aren't sure! I love the minors than the main, and sadly the minors don't really have any background. During the story, I found one part that sickens me, they just suddenly said that they are from the same ophanage. This made me hard to accerpt, this utter unlogic. But the ending's great and that's the part I like ,oh yeah the songs are great too. One more thing, just like everyone said the the grphics great, but I ain't too keen about it.cuz for me it don't affect me.That's the reason why I love ff7 more than any ff series.In the end, I don't like it.

I loved this game, and I think that it was a master piece. It had great graphics, great music, great battle system, but it lacks in the story and characters department compared to some of the other FFs.
The graphics were great, pushing the PSX to the limit, and the sound was great and there was a fantastic battle system. The only real problem was the story. It was good, but come on, this is Final Fantasy with great storylines like in FFIV, FFVI, and FFVII! The story never made you cry or yell (Except maybe the ending). Also, the characters weren't as good as some of the other ones. They were just not as cool as the other ones.
All in all, FFVIII was a great game, that just wasn't quite as good as some of the other games in the series. Here is my basic opinions:
Graphics: 10/10
Sound: 9.9/10
Gameplay: 9.210 (Drawing was just to anoying)
Story: 8/10
Overall: 37.1 or 9.3/10

The CG graphics were the best i have seen with gameplay to match. Altough it had a confusing storyline which was very hard to follow the game the game stilled flowed well. The baddies were persistenet in the world map which made it quite annoying also the Draw and Jucntion system was a big let down, but you could level up with 1,000 exp at every level so it is easy to get a high level quick. The game has some good points in the story and some bad bits for egsample; the giant spider in the 1st seed mission is intruging, but then you have boring parts eg. the sub game which involves you saving rinoa and have to keep here from going out of the screen. Another let down is the weapon system, were you have to get bits and pieces to make it, it is rubbish. all in all i think even though it is the worst out of al the final fantasy games it is still a brilliant game and any rpg fan should get it

Ok this is the best game i have ever played.This line has been used a couple of times,but the thing is that,I agree with the line!the thing that i like about the game is the juntion system.No other ff game has it and thats what makes this game a good game.Theres so many juntion funtion and the gfs rule as well.My favourite gf is bahumat just because it deals enough damage to kill an enemy.And plus this final fantasy is the longest.I only have one friend who has it and he gives a good rating of 9.99%.Some of my otherfriends have different ffs than me and they said they rented it and said it was the best.ok now where was i oh yeah the strongest caracter is obviosely Sqall and his weapon is a gunblade.Anywaays i still havent finished the game.Im up to Ultimecia castle and im just traning.thats it.thats my reveiw of the game.FF8 ABSOLOUTLY RULES.if you like this ff try:

this game is the best ive played and the graphics are realy good for a playstation game and i was in band and i realy liked the music it always got me pumped right by the end of a mission or something like that. this game is realy long and is action packed the junction system is probably the most confusing thing about the game but after a couple of hours playing the game you start to understand it the gf's are my favorite part of the game and it is realy cool that you can chose them to learn stuff like boost and the gf movies are realy cool i liked the brothers gf movie because it was funny how they played paper rock scissors. the side quests of the game are realy fun like the chocobos and the card queen side quests over all i think the game is unserpassed by all other final fantasies except final fantasy 10.

This game is the best ever it rocks, everyone who says it is crap are either stupid f***ers or they havnt played it! it was excellent, the GFs were ace, the characters were, the story, magic.... i could go on for ages. I used to think final fantasy games sucked but now i no this is the only good one, ive played on 5, 6, 7 9 and 10 and they're all crap compared to this one.The ending scene is hilarious when Zell chokes on a hotdog. ha ha ha ha. The bosses are all fun cus i kicked all theyre ass's. Diablo is easier to defeat on a low level because as you level up, so does he. Eden is the best GF. use boost and you can do over 20,000 damage to enemies with him. its also very easy to get full boost as the video for his move is about 3 minutes long, very handy. I would suggest everyone buys this game!!! 10/10

Man, this game rocks!!!!! The story of a mercenary school that finds themselves in a greater conflict than they thought. And in the middle of it, is Squall, a lonewolf, who in time becomes a great leader and friends to many. The GFs are sweet, and clean. The Junctioning, drawing magic, whew....its the best!!! The cinematics are smooth and clean, and the characters don't look like little blocks with circles for heads runing around like FF7. But they look real, all throughout the game. This game is a work of a genius, and also the music matches the scene perfectly. No drawbacks in this game. I beat it 5 times, and I still see no flaw, you should get it now!!! Also, Rinoa looks so fine in the cinematics. My favorite cinematic is when the Galbadia Graden fights with Balamb Garden. You should get this game!!!!

An incredibly touching story which symultaneously draws our sympathy and anger, whilst never failing to challenge your gameplaying skills to the limit and make your palms sweat as battles rage and magic flies. Although the Final Fantasy series are arguably the best rpg series in the world, this game leaves the others miles behind with the best battle system and mini-games to excite the imagination as much as the storyline. The amazing FMV sequences leave the player breathless, and the emotional ending will satisfy even the most demanding gamers.

This is the most customizable game out there. whether you are smart and get the hang of it, and really, really like it, or you are to stupid to understand the draw system and just say you don't like it to make yourself look like you really have an opinion. The characters are so rich, anyone can summon a gf anytime, and the characters can customize themselves like never before! You can make anyone a magic user, and then make the person with the weakest weapon double the damage of te gy with the best. It's all there in the junction system. This game's plot blows away all the other ff's, including ten! I can't convey what a great game this is, RPG gamerz, if you haven't played this yet, and really beat it, (not just the foinal boss, but conquered it) you don't know what a good rpg is!

I think all the characters are great- they look real which is the best bit. The graphics are amazing, especially the battles, when you use the magic. The dream sequences are a bit boring though; you just want to get on with the game. Some bosses are quite hard and will take a few tries. My advice, take your time building up your levels e.t.c, rather than just trying to rush through the game; I haven't completed it yet- I'm up to Adel- the problem being, I've depended too much on GFs, so my level is only about 37- and you can't use GFs on Adel or Rinoa will die. So, I've started again. I've started Final Fantasy IX- shame the characters aren't more human like VIII, but hopefully it'll be good. Final Fantasy XIII is a great game, and is definitely worth buying.

Ahh, the long awaited Final Fantasy 8... Where to begin? What should i tell you first? I mean should i start with the Seemlessly intergrated movie scenes? The deep and involving story of a lone wolf going from a selfish child to a leader of a military orginazation infront of your eyes? How about the lush, and i mean lush details of the characters, backgrounds, magic, and special attacks. Although many players may become annoyed with the draw system, others take this new approach positivly. I myself was most amazed with the number of GFs and the difficulty to defeat some of them making the game that much more challenging. For those who dont already own this game.... Unless your still playing Final Fantasy 7.... what are you wasting your time with?

I have been a gamer all my life. Since the dawn of the Family computers that eventually paved the way for Nintendo, Sega, Saturn, SuperNes, and of course the Playstation. The Final Fantasy series has always been my favorite. Even the classic graphics of the Anthology series (rehashed in PS) are great games in their own right. What grabs my attention is actually the story behind all the fast paced action.It has romance, deception, action, comic-reliefs and even some suspense here and there. Final Fantasy VIII for me is the second best final fantasy game (second to FFX of the PS2). The characters are great (esp. Rinoa) and the weapons are strong. The sidequests are also fun. I confess, I am a Final Fantasy addict. So whats wrong with that???

I really like this game! its really awesome, and i love the characters, except Irvine. i think he is a jerk. the music is really cool and it has a really cool storyline, but i have to say that i liked ff7 better. 7 had an amazing storyline and stuff. 7 is definently the best game ever!!! ive also played 10, but i thought it was kind of retarded how the people acatually speak. 8 is my second favorite game, but it got really hard on the third disk when you have to fight adel. the graphics are awesome, and i agree with shorty that it was kind of gay when they blamed the memory loss on the GFs. i guess i am kind of a geek when it comes to ff games, oh well. i love this game!!! oh and if anyone can tell me how to get past adel, e-mail.

Yo,you gotta get this game.Ive done a review for Final Fantasy 9,just thought you should know.This game is the second best of the series.Sqaull is really cool.His gunblades yield amazing techniques.GFs are awsome(eden rocks).I think Selphie is just hillarious.The graphics were great! Music:nothing less than perfect. The characters are the best.The weapons are really cool.I love the junction system.Where if you have 100 of a great magic,(I.E Curaga),if you have over 6000 hp you can easily have 9999 hp,and how gfs absorb damage.It is alot more challenging than final fantasy 9.I mean come on has anyone beat that Frieking omega weapon.By the way if you have beat him please e-mail me on how you did it. Much appreciated.Buy this game.

Final fantasy 8 wass a great game both story wize and graphics wise. how ever it had a few down falls mainly the hole money thing personaly i like to earn my money the old fashion ff way.. ff 8 was far better then ff9 was i mean come on people i thought the point was to make the game look as real as posable.but in ne case it paild in comparison to Finale fantasy 7 then came finale fantasy X which in my opion is un matched.well there is one eception i doubt ne body will agree wit me but my all time fav and the game that got me hooked on the Final series in the first place }final fantasy 2{ ps: cant wait for final fantasy X-2 and final fantasy XI to come to the US. pss:: what ever happend to ff 4-6 seems like they skiped a few.

youre gonna luv this one its originality is excellent the graphics and movie clips are shere masterpieces and the characters seem so real you will get lost in the plot and all the imaginative storylines behind this game! no other final fantasy could compare and i have all up to 10 so i should no you just wait till you see the opening movie clip...out of all the ps2 games and all the others i choose final fantasy 8 and will stand by that! no other game could have such an impact on you no other game could make you cry when you see characters in near death circumstances or when raine dies...but hey its not all sad but that is all im saying you'll have to complete it first and if you get stuck just email the master! ENJOY! :-) x
