AMAZING | | Katrina from Ontario, Canada says (6/Aug/2003): | As a teenager naturally i'm a video game fanatic, i've always played adventure games, but when i was introduced to final fantasy on the super nintendo (final fantasy mystic quest) i knew that when i got playstation that i would continue to be hooked! Final fantasy is just great i love the FMV's it's my favourite part and it just seems so real! parts i don't like are the battle system it can get confusing and u need to play the game time and time again to get it right! This final fantasy is so unique compared to the past ones...a totally different story line and fun for everyone! It has all the best qualities for all different ppl, love, fantasy, battle, it's overall fantastic!

The only thing i regret is beating it too quickly. The ending is also worth it, it is probibly the best ending I have ever seen. buy it and you will see yourself
| FF8 A stunning, complex, deep, challenging and varied game | | Rik with no see from Bath, England says (7/Aug/2003): | When i got my playstation 3 years ago I was surprised by the different type of games available. FF7 was my first RPG experience. I got stuck on it and gave it up. I then bought FF8. I was impressed by the brilliant integration between the actual game-play and cutseen videos. The beginning of the game gripped me, even though it was not highly entertaining. A lot of cutseens full of eye candy kept me glued to the screen. I became so addicted to the game, that I played it throughout one summer holiday every day. When i got the third disc, perhaps the most boring in terms of storyline but best in terms of general entertainment, and it gave me the chance to whield some fancy weapons around the world against some fancy monsters, all of which became increased fun when travelling in the Ragnorak, the flying ship that i aquired. My Third disc became scratched however, and i actually went out and bought another copy of the game, as so i could continue. I never explored the full potential of the game, i completed it yes, but i never fully got the full experience, for instance i never aquired all the GF's, i was missing four or five when i came to fight Ultimecea. I never aquired all the cards either. However the game was incredible and i wish i had used a guide, not to complete it, but to complete it 100% as the game deserves that level of your attention to detail. Oh yes, the brilliant little extra the game has, the OMEGA weapon, i have never beaten it, in Ultimecea's Castle, it is a brilliant extra which apitimises FF8, there is the normal game, and yes it is not easy but not impossibly hard to complete, and then there is all the extras the game holds, the card championships, the OMEGA weapon (which is harder then Ultimecea) and collecting the GF's ect, to beat these tasks, is hard, challenging but fun and usually hidden! Its an amazing game, ive completed FF9 as well, but FF8 was my favourite, and the cutseen at the end of FF8 is longer then 9 so that tips the balance, well worked, no glitches, great graphics, amazingly complex and deep plot, varied paces and all around an incredible game from Square once again.
If you havent got it still, go get it, even today it is good, but i was gonna go back and do it again but i was so demorilised when i saw how poor your characters are at the start compared to the finish i dispaired! and carried on at the OMEGA weapon. Happy gaming!

I used to think final fantasy games sucked but now i no this is the only good one, ive played on 5, 6, 7 9 and 10 and they're all crap compared to this one.The ending scene is hilarious when Zell chokes on a hotdog. ha ha ha ha. The bosses are all fun cus i kicked all theyre ass's. Diablo is easier to defeat on a low level because as you level up, so does he. Eden is the best GF. use boost and you can do over 20,000 damage to enemies with him. its also very easy to get full boost as the video for his move is about 3 minutes long, very handy. I would suggest everyone buys this game!!! 10/10

If you couldn't decide on a game this would be one of the best!!! also try FFX too!!! that one is great!!

Using a style of story that has never failed, the loner who coes to apprectiate his fellow peers, we are thrown into a world where reality and fantasy combin to create a cacophany for the senses. The new junction style that deals with the magic attack/defence of each character and the equaly individual abilities of the GF's make for a moe controled game that, to me, surpasses its predesesors in every way. Final Fantasy Eight will become an obsession, even after the game is finished; due to the amount of sub-quests, that will change the way you look at the gaming experience.

The graphics were very good, the cut scenes were awsome, the gameplay was so realistic, and the characters were cool. The junctioning stuff was very easy to understand. I think it was a lot better than Final Fantasy IX and X. I would like to thank squaresoft for making such a great game!!!!!!!

The graphics are right up there with 9(the best), and the gameplay and plot are different. The junction system is a little hard at first, but later on it can be a real help. The thing I didn't like is the weapon upgrades, they took forever! This is one of the hardest games I've played, but very fun. I would recomend this game to anyone who likes RPGs.

need i say more?! this game is a beauty a sheer masterpiece!perfect in every aspect what other game could make you so involved that you cry when you see characters(in the perfect smooth and detailed movie clips!) in near death circumstances? what game has so much to offer that it'll keep you coming back for more?although in the end its your choice but all i can say is it will always be my fave game ever even more so than 1,2,4,5,6,7,9,or even 10! so if you get stuck cuz theres loadsa hidden parts etc just email the master! ENJOY! x

The love between Rinoa and Squall was breathtaking, and so was the many twist and turns. This game kept me on my toes! I can't wait to see FFX2 or FFVII2!!! *jumps*

I think defeating adel is the hardest so far.I think seifer is such a jerk pushing rinoa to become one with adel when rinoa actually liked seifer at one time. My friend has final fantasy 10 and its so awesome I love it LuLu is so cool and Una is too. I can't wait to see part 2 of 10..I recomend you get 8 and play it. 8 kicks butt...

The style was good and the gameplay made it better. I liked the leveling of the summons and the way abilities were learned. The graphics were ok...but hey, it IS Playstation 1 alright. I especially liked the characters, and the villians as well. The whole concept of fighting it out with sorceresses and relying on your summons' abilities made it a very good. I also enjoyed the soundtrack for this game. The storyline was great too, how they connected Squall and Rinoa and how Squall related to Quistis, Zell, Selphie, Irvine and his greatest oponent, Seifer. I mean, come on...it just doesn't get any better than this! Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 10 are my favorite FF games. With 9 on the far bottom of my list. But you know, those who still have doubts in their mind about playing the game, I suggest those people get up and go play the entire game for themselves. Only then, will they find out if it is good or if it sucked like hell. That's all the advice I can give. But opinion stays, 7, 8, and 10 great...9 and 10-2 sucky.

The gameplay was awsome the fmv sequences the graphics where incredible (for all you people who say the graphics sucks, its beacause like that other person said its a PS1!) where terrific and almost life like the game was truley original, each of the characters were really interesting and the best thing about the game is the music i think it has the best music out of all the other final fantasy games out there. Liberati Fatali(I think thats how you spell it) is a fantastic fmv its perfect for a starting mini movie. The storyline was great and was always intresting because there are many unexpected twist and surpises in the plot. There was one crappy thing in the game though it was whe I had to go looking for the white seed ship it took me forever untill i finallly found it. I was gonna buy final fantasy 9 because i thought it might be like final fantasy 8 but boy was i ever wrong. From what I've heard it sucked big time.
I saw on this tv show about video gaes that Square Soft is making a sequel to Final fantasy 7 i saw a preview for it and it was awsome but a sequel for final fantasy 8 would be much better especially if it was made for the xbox cause thats the only next generation system that i have (i wonder how many words i have now)Also the game had great GFs espcially Odin and has anybody here beaten omega weapon? if yes please tell me uless ur one of those final fantasy 8 haters.

I haven't got X-2 nor did I ever get a HDD and get FF XI, but here's what I think about the other 6. Good game, very ingenious idea to start a timeless series. 2 & 3 were very good at story lines and gameplay was decent. 7 revamped the way RPG's were made. Great, great story and beautiful FMV's. Sephiroth one of the best villians in a FF series. 8 was a very good follow up, and if you were to take out the Sephiroth factor, 8 would be my favorite. I thought the final boss was lacking a little and the story wasn't quite as good, but not bad. Absolutely loved the junctioning system and the draw system, but hated that you couldn't just drop magic you didn't want and absolutely hated that you couldn't control Limit Breaks, they were pretty much useless without spending time on spells or having low hit points, in which you'd more likely get killed before you used it on an enemy you truly needed it. 9 was disappointing to me. The story wasn't all that great, there wasn't a great leap in graphics. Also, I thought the main character was a little weak. There just didn't seem to be anything heroic about him. 10 was absolutely wonderful in the game play and the graphics. The story was a little big different, it had it's good points and it's bad points. I wanted to smash my controller when I saw what happened *or lack of not knowing what happened* to Tidus, but at the same time, I thought what a great twist. I'm glad they made a sequel for it and even though I heard it sucked, I will try it. For all you haters of 8 *especially you lovers of 9* come on, play the game for the fun. If you don't like the game for the junctioning system, you need to stop playing RPG's because they require brains to play. Just shut up, enjoy the game, and if you're concerned about just wasting $50 on a game, either rent it and play, or wait until it drops to $20 and buy it. Otherwise, piss and moan to your mirror, cause that's the only person who cares.
