The best car simulating game ever | | nick lopez from Bergenfield, N.J. says (14/Aug/2003): | before gran turismo 2 and 3, gt 1 was the best of the best. beautiful cars such as the viper, castrol supra. and awsome backround graphics. but the only bad part about this game is there are not alot of tracks and cars. but otherwise and A for this game. good job polyphony!!!!!!
| about | | kevin from bradford pa usa zip 16701 says (26/May/2003): | i think the graps suck but the cars are ok . but i think more cars could have less halding. and thay should let you set how high your car sets at the start of each race. and or the tire prusser at the start of each race also too so if i had to rate this game i would give the game about a 5 out of 10
| Gran Turismo is a great game | | Rob from USA says (24/Jul/2001): | I really liked this game it was a challenge to get the license to advance forward. The cars cost as much as they might today so its hard to get the money and it takes long to get it, but once u have the car you will be very happy and I liked that u could upgrade it and make it look so cool.
| Gran Turismo: It makes other car sims look weak | | A gamer from Anonymous says (17/Jan/2001): | This game is brilliant. Some of the best graphics the PSX can have have been put into this game. The sound effects were recorded from real cars, there are over 250 cars in the game, dozens of different upgrades, the gameplay was brilliant with Arcade Mode and "Career" Mode, the lifespan was HUGE because of the hundreds of cars, upgrades, and tracks, the fun factor was a definite 10, and it was all pretty original because instead of cartoony, not-very-realistic car games, it had real physics and real cars.
Graphics- 10\10
Sound- 10\10
Gameplay- 10\10 (I must add, it's even better with a Dual Force wheel)
Lifespan- 8\10
Originality- 8\10
Fun Factor- 10\10
| Gran Turismo: Is it the Real Driving Simulator? | | Brandon from Melbourne, Australia says (25/Nov/2000): | We have had all these car games to come out, all delivering with cars, graphics, and excitement. Like the Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit which brought a really excellent Pursuit mode, but the downside was there wasn't any carreer mode. 1 year later Need For Speed: High Stakes brought in a carreer mode, with buying your own cars to upgrading them. Allthough the graphics weren't as good as they could've been, the carreer mode of the game wasn't up to date. But when Gran Turismo came out...Our lives changed. Packed full of Cars, Tracks, and money. The game delivers everything that you could want in a racing sim. From buying used cars, to hotting them up with turbos, maybe a sports rom, and some paintwork, to winning hard struggling races, to earning enough money to buy the ultimate special models, which are around $500,000 credits. The cars may sound pretty expensive, but the performance won't let you down. They have even thrown in a Car wash, for after a few races, your car changes tint, and if u put it thru the carwash, it goes back to its normal colour. There is also a test feature, for 400m times, 1000m times, and a speed test which is going round a big oval shaped track to reach the top-notch speed of your beloved car. There is about 20 - 30 races all together, ranging from the novice to the advanced. There is 3 lisence tests, B, A, and IA. B from the easiest and Ia being the hardest. The graphics in the game are top-notch, while the sounds are very good, with each and every car having different sounds. The Gameplay is TOTALLY EXCELLENT, with the cars acting like real. eg. a rwd car is easy to oversteer going round a tight corner, GT takes that in it. This game will keep you occupied for ages, and the Lastibility is a 9. The only problem is theres no skidmarks. But then again, if you are a die-hard hardcore racing fan, GET THIS GAME! you won't be sorry.
