| | ste from liverpool uk says (29/Jul/2003): | i found this game purely by chance but went with it as it is in a similar style to the myst games which i like.
The game opens with a eerie cinematic that sets the scene for the whole game, the is a mind game that doesn’t feed a fast hand or even a fast brain most of the puzzles are not time based although the few that are made me panic. the game is more about listening and memory more than anything else... that and gleaming information for the random chatter of the NPC's. Graphical the game is average until u come the the dark areas the lighting and music score keep you on the edge of your seat. The game is based on H.P lovecraft (sorry if its spelt wrong) books so anyone who has read them will find the story very compelling
making sure you save the game is a must tho as there are many ways to die from being eaten by deamons to getting beat up by a butler along with some hard to get to places do the point click interface and the fact that alot of items and move spots are so close togther it gets hard to see where one ends and the next starts, but all this aside the game rates high on fun i still laugh at some of the death scene i am at the end now and it has taken me alittle over 6 months due to a number of hard and sometimes unclear puzzles, but its one of the most original game i have seen in a long time and as such good value to anyone who likes mind and puzzle games
