Madden 03 rocks but can be improved! |
| mattberk from Vancouver, Canada says (9/Feb/2004): |
Madden 2003 is the most addicting game ever, although I can't wait to but '04. The realistic quality of the game makes it so interesting but here are some things to improve on:
1) Announce Starting lineups before the games.
2) Make it easier to increase the ratings on your DT and DE and LB's.
3) Hall of Fame votes 5 yrs. after the player retires.
4) MAKE IT SO THAT A PLAYER DOESN'T RETIRE WHEN HE STILL HAS YEARS ON HIS CONTRACT!
5) Way Lower Scoring Games! Defense on both sides are horrible
and games are so high scoring ex. I won 64-55 earlier
6) More injuries and more serious injuries - tend to injured players on the field.
7) Better blocking when receiving a punt and when punting.
8) Rushing is too easy. I got 3000+ yards with LaDainian Tomlinson in his 2nd yr.
9) Make it easier to sack. I only get 1 or 2 a game.
The GOOD things about the game:
1) Salary caps and negotiating player salaries (although it can still be improved by having bonuses if they go to the probowl - stuff like that.
2) Kicking field goals can't really be improved! Nor can punting or kickoffs.
3) You can challenge a play - I think this feature is unbeatable!
One thing I'm not sure if it's good or bad is I can block field goals so easily. In Ronde Barber's career (in my franchise), I had over 150 blocks! I guess they could make it harder.
But overall, this is the best game I have ever played! I'm attached to my computer when I'm not at school!

Take my advise please!!!!! trust me |
| spazzolla from lakes,florida says (17/Sep/2003): |
Madden is far better than any football bar none( second to tecmo bowl). The grapics are superb, precise, and to the T excelent work to the madden crew. I been a loyal customer since 1994 (the sega era) BUT I found a few inperfections with this particular game.
1) Offence has a great advantage in madden every single game I play rain, sleet, fog, or snow its always high scoring,What ever happened to a hard hitting NFC 10 to 7 game it almost never happens receviers come across the middle note average NFL recivers 195lbs and gets clocked blind sided by a 246lb lb at full speed or even sometimes by lineman when running a zone blitz and the reciever survies AND holds on the the football???
2)We need more serious injuries in grapic detail a guy breaks a leg show us a broken flimsey leg "mcgahee like" what ever happened to the ambulance or even the strecher this greatly increases the fun factor in a major way injured players in crutches on the sidelines in plain clothes. More bone crushing hits a derrick brooks hit should'nt resemble a trent dilfer hit Ill be running at full speed with tim bowens dive at a QB in throwing motion plant my helmet into his ribs or kneecap no injury, anazing,we need more gang tackles guys getting hit and getting hit repeatedly. 3) DBs lacts aggressiveness there is no way that somebody like wayne crebet should burn troy vincent all game long, balls thrown directly at DBS get slapped down why?? Also a guy makes the pro bowl has 105 catches with 17tds then retires that sucks (no Rice)thats a no no. If you can draft players YOU should decide if they call it quits.4) Computer advantages Offensive lineman are quicker than a ninja at recovering thier player fumbles, " fat asses",I hate that. You get hit and drag a tackler out-of-bounds and the clock still ticks(someone tell me why). And the computer is notourious for the quick score before the half a damn FB is not breaking 6 tackles all of a sudden like bo jackson and going for a 98 yars score. QBs intentional grounding to avoid the sack we need the in-the-graspt rule I Use john Abraham of the jets i average about 8 sacks a year in the pro level I would have at least 16 if it wasnt for Qb throwing balls at OLs backs. Blocking players need to decide who they block sometimes when the computer blitzes my FB or HB no matter who they are shuffel back and forth block no one then I get sacked or let the defender run pass them first THEN they try to chase them. Please add to future madden games;dive over the top of the pile, more fumbles, low scoring games, scoting rookies should mean actuall practing with and seeing the played in action,a guy why runs a 4.2 needs to be more explosive should blow past a slow corner in single coverage, fumbled snaps, bad spoting by the place holder, and better control of the runner shaking a defensive player by tapping left to right, big hitters should deliver bigger hits. overall this game is a definite classic love it and i recommend it for all sport gamers.

Stuff you need to add |
| chuck from Rochester NY says (29/May/2003): |
Madden 2003 is the beast one yet because its for the best game system but besides the graphics the other things like injuries.
Sometimes when aplayer gets hurt the sometime dont be holding what they hurt they be holding there leg when there arm got hurt.
Also the draft should be more real. The team creation should be better because there team logos are fake. Also

One of thee best games |
| tory fishman from lower brule USA says (7/Nov/2003): |
i dont care wat other peeps think about this game i think that the create a player feature is the best i mean you can create one person then put him at halfback a linebacker and kicker then kick 65 yard field goals with eaz.when you stop a team til fourth down and they punt the easiest way is to move yer created player out by the cornerback then press and hold turbo while running at the punter you can tackle him or jus block the punt. i think that in the future games the creators should make the tackles more hard hitting
|
Absolutely superb!!! |
| James Gilbert from Oxford, England says (16/Dec/2002): |
I think this nis a very good game, especially the graphics, they are amazing. The game plays are so good with loads of different choices which you can play from training and designign a team to an actual match and playing with that team which you can design! I gave this game 10/10 because I think the gameplay is amazing and all the aspetcs of the game are thought out well and the whole game runs smoothly! Thank you very much for making a superb game!

Madden 2003 is off da hook. (FULL HUNDRED) |
| Stealy from Nassau, Bahamas says (1/Mar/2003): |
Madden 2003 is one da best football game around. Much love for 2002 but 2003 takes da cake. i just love the in ur face defense the computer puts on u. It makes u really have to work for ur scores. I'm a fool in da franchise mode. Thats my specialty. I love the extra 15 years of franchise Madden 2003 offers. It gives u more than enough time to create the perfect team. The scrambling abilities of the quarterback are remarkable. So are the gang tackles and the breaking tackles. The graphics speak for themselves. The one flaw i just can't understand is if u injure the computer teams starting quarterback or wide receiver, their backup comes in and does an even better job than the starter did. How is dat possible? But to get down to the bottom line. Madden just isnt a game that u can pick up and think u can master. It takes skill and an understanding for the game. Oh yeah, for Madden 2004, don't yall think EA sports can add Hall ofFame for the Franchise Mode. It's like all of your hard work and excellence goes to waste after the 30 years.

It`s come a long way! But theres always room for... |
| Jim DeLise from Ichikawa City, Chiba, Japan says (4/Mar/2003): |
The Madden trilogy has come a long way for sure. I can live with some of the imperfections (I`m not gonna list them `cause we all know what they are). In my opinion, it gets better every year and I kind of enjoy those little quirks. It let`s me know the difference in realities. I live in Japan and the Japanese version is great! Keep up the good work. I would love to see classic teams from the 1920`s to the 40`s though.

where would we be w/o Madden |
| Malcolm Scott from Grand Rapids, Michigan says (14/Mar/2003): |
I love this game, it the most realistic football game out there. Of coarse the creator are not perfect, But we should thank them any way. I heard a guy say why have Madden speak after a play. I say take the advice and critisism as constructive and don't throw the ball into double coverage and get picked off. I agree with most the DB's play kinda soft. I play with the Rams ans there is no way my partner should be completing as may passes to A. Wiliams side as they do to Mcleon side. It's like when you use to throw the ball to Rice he always use was open deep. Some of the corners are hard like Barber and the boys from MIami ans Philli. But the rest play soft.
The running could be improved a lot Faulk barely get 60yd when i play the computer or my friend. Like i said not perfect but hey we do have a MAdden and you all love it no matter what the little flaws my be. Yeah you never catch the computer once they break away but it could be worst.

Madden 2003 is the best madden ever except |
| A gamer from bellingham, Washington, usa says (16/Mar/2003): |
the gameplay and graphics are great on this madden.I have played madden every year since 95 and i can tell you it is almost perfect. The is no way to make a sports game more realistic. The running game is so real. And the passing is great to.I only have to problems with the game.First on defense the computer does to much in pass coverage knocking down balls. In previous maddens you had to do more yourself.Second sometimes when you go to knockdown a pass its not consistent how the defender reaches.Overall madden 2003 is the best sports game
|
It is the best game out there. Madden rules. Everyone else just stop making football games.. |
| Gerald Espo from USA says (28/Mar/2003): |
I love madden. 2003 was so much better than the previous years. Running, catching, interceptions, even kicking is real life. Make it easier to break the kickers after a late hit on field goal kicks. They should get injured more easily and badly once hit by a huge man. All the tackling and running ability is fabulous. It is real life, and the game was designed awesome. Have the dime backs be able to cover the outside posts and flags a bit more, they get toasted so easily on the flag, pisses me off when I don't draft 4 quality cornerbacks. Have more interesting injuries happen. Ex: Concussion, broken neck, (possibly died) perhaps a bit un appropriate, but sometimes it would be just to funny to see a freind lose a quality player to death. The Madden competion can get intense.

Greatest game ever |
| Gibberish Crazy from Nowheresville, USA says (6/Jun/2003): |
This game is the best football game/ normal game ever created. The graphics rule, create a team lets one be creative, and the variety of comments allow it to be played for hours on end. Like anyting it has minor defects like not saying created players' and teams' names and no matter how big, strong, good your offensive line is you never get pancakes. Plus when playing in All- Madden mode a person with 99 speed and acceleration shouldn't be caught by someone with 70. Except for those small things Madden '03 is the greatest game ever.
|
Madden 03 rules, but still room for improvement. |
| Daniel K Billett JR from Philipsburg, Pa USA says (24/Jun/2003): |
We all know that madden 03 has the best graphics, although some of the hits are a little weak. I guess thats because the NFL is trying to downplay the violence. We all know that the gameplay is awesome. But if you play it too much, its possible to win games 121 - 13. Even if you are a mediocre team. So that gets a little old. The addition of mini - camps has made a huge difference for new comers to learn how to play. In fact, even with these inadequecies, the game just rules. Its the best 'looking' and best 'playing' football game of all time. Bar none. But when I rank it against other football games overall, it falls short. There just isn't enough control in the game. For example, if I start a franchise mode and get a season or two into it, then my friend wants to join, guess what, I have to start all over, because you have to declare how many human coaches there will be in the begiining. I found a way around it, but its annoying. (Create the multiple coaches and select team none for any coach not playing). But my biggest gripe, lack of a coach mode. What if I just want to call the plays, and handle the various managerial duties of the team? Can't do it. No such thing. Of course you can call the play, then let the computer run it, but you loose the flavor. I have to flip a coin, and change the difficulty level of the game just to simulate the ebb and flow. Because, if you leave the game on pro, you crush everyone, and if you leave the game on the next setting up, you get crushed. And what ever happened to clock management? Why does every team play in the hurry up? Often snapping the ball with 15 seconds or more. Because of this I always own time of possesion 2:1 or 3:1! And isn't the point of a timeout that you get more time? Why does the 40 second clock start out at 20 after a timeout? And btw, whats wrong with a 10 - 0 or 7 - 0 game? Why does every game end in the 20's or 30's? And if I set up a game to just watch (august please come quick) the game always ends up in the 50's and 40's. And why isn't there a global substitution available. Why can't I just take out Bettis, and But in Amos in everyplay in the middle of a game, and have it work for every play? these are however, minor anoyances. John Madden Football has always been an 'arcade' football game, not a simulation. Considering that, I have to say it definetly wins hands down in the arcade football realm. But like I said. It falls far short when you compare it to simulations. Hopefully, this will be a step forward for EA, I would love to see them improve the management and other aspects of the game every year. Not just the graphics.

What A Game |
| Brett H. from Washington, D.C. says (3/Nov/2002): |
So Madden 2001...not too good but ok, Madden 2002, wow, amazing, a true triumph. Madden 2003, well let me tell you. Lets begin with the music, last year it had a variety but lets face it, it sucked. This year, songs we have actually heard of and plenty of them. The graphics have vastly improved, no longer do defenders just bat the ball down, they pick it off so watch out. Al Michaels and Melissa Stark join John Madden to complete the best commentary on any game. The injuries are realistic looking and Melissa gives you many updates. Last year, franchise mode took us all by surprise, this year its even better with the player combine that you can actually scout your prospects giving you there 40 time, their bench pressing stats, and the Shuttle Run time. The sound has also improved with the new stadium music that last year sounded quite bad. The players are pumped just like in real life when they make a play. Players also do their signature dances. The coaches were grat last year and now look and move even more realistically. The fans still are 2-d but hey, they do the wave... But my favorite feature is the brand new mini-camp mode where you go to refine your skills and even show them off in game situations. If you complete them, you will recieve great Madden Cards. And you can even create your own personal playbook from scratch, both offense and defense. Pretty cool. Well I've been playing Madden 2003 for a week now and I can asssure you it is worth dropping 50 dollars on. So what are you waiting for run to the store now!

100% madden review |
| thomas from usa says (28/Dec/2002): |
madden 2003 is awesome the graphics are great. gameplay is good, but you still cant laterel the ball i was wanting for this game to replace my ncaa game completly but i cant run option plays, also wheres the hb pass play, the mini camp mode is fun the music on this maden is pretty good and i only listen to rap mostly, the commentary was right on, w/accurate sayings to the play you just ran, but on the madden cards i dont like having to have other ea sport games to unlock some of them, and even when you do have those games saved i cant figure out how to unlock those cards, franchise is pretty good, the create a team isnt as good as i thought it would be, ncaa 2003 is way better, also wheres the teams mascot, the create a playbook is fairly understandalble but yuo cant create reverses, hb passes, option etc. for the most part i give this game a 10.

THE BEST EVER? You tell me |
| Terry Howard from Dayton, Ohio, USA says (2/Jan/2003): |
I think madden 2003 is the best football game that I have ever played. The HB option to the WR reverse. Is why I would give madden 2003 a 10/10. The madden cards would be great if you could unlock the locked cards cause they dont tell you how to if anybody knows please tell!!!. besides that from the graphics to the challenge of the play is yet the best madden football game ever made can't wait until 2004.
|
The best again!!!! |
| Donald from Middletown, NY, USA says (6/Jan/2003): |
The franchise is longer and also the new mini camp is awesome. I have played Madden since 95 and it just keeps getting beter and better. The graphics are unbelievable and the commentary is amazing too. The madden cards are awesome too. If you havn't tried it then I suggest that you better go get it because your going to love it too. Also the new stiff arm moves let you break tackles better. The gang tackles they have added are so cool. The music is awesome to listen too. You can also create your own playbook.

EA does it again. |
| Brandon Duty from Abingdon, USA says (10/Jan/2003): |
Over the past years EA Sports has set the standards for ALL sports games. Madden 2003 is no different, and leaves all other football games eating their dust. There is no reason that the abscence of the option feature depreciates the games quality. It can be assumed that the folks at EA will continue to grow in leaps and bounds with their technology for gameplay

Madden Rules |
| james hatfield from Paris, France says (10/Jan/2003): |
Madden is the father of football and has set the standard for PS2 football games. For all you who complain about EA not including the option, SHUTUP! If you want to run the option play NCAA 2003 (Which by the way is my favorite game on PS2). Until then, just whine on Lee Corso's shoulder sweethart because Madden 2003 was perfect!
|
The Best Game of EA Ever!!!! |
| Case Rogers from Arkansas, USA says (22/Jan/2003): |
I think that the game is so cool but there is one little flaw, whenever you go to intercept the ball it goes straight through your guys hand, but other than that it is the best game ever!!!
