This game is pure Metal for me and truly an addidctive game as even though the Metal Gear 2-Sons of Liberty is released on PS2, still it is beyond doubt one of the most challenging game ever and the best part is that IT has different endings and the game makes you crave for more. It sounds just like Metal Gear Solid vs Metal Gear Liquid{Snake}. It was fun playing it and the graphics are amazing especially the special effects as it is one of the best Tactical Espionage Gamez ever created. Japanese are amazing just like they always were. I hope that you guys will enjoy this game as much as I did and remember that according to the original lines in the original version of the game were that ultimately there is no winner or loser in the battle as the loser is free from the battle and the winner is bound as he/she has to live the rest of the life as a hero. hehe. i cant believe i started to state this now. Ive beat the game over 40 times thats how much this game rocks. its simply the best game on the planet to ever come out on the shelfs. THE WHOLE THING IS INCREDIABLE. the plot. the charecters. EVERYTHING. for ps1 the graphics were the best. i would prob never trade the one for ps1 for the gamecube one. The ps1 will always be the best and id give it an infinity stars if i could. But its a must get. go to ebay and get it or wherever u can get it. i recommend it to anybody. its just so cool. whats got me confused, im posting it here. is that in metal gear solid 2. which ive beat about 15 times doesnt show meryl or nething and plays as raiden. and about the patriots. in metal gear solid 3 i head meryl is in it and so is deepthroat aka Gray-Fox. But meryl needs to be rescued and stuff and they said that it went back in time. how could they if they need to save Olga's child whos being held by the patriots. So going back in time and saying that the guy in mgs3 is Big Boss?? Its just confusing but i can pee my pants im that excited for number 3. if Hideo-Kojami was here id pat them on theyre back and tell them theyve changed my life about gaming. and the main man who created metal gear solid. i would thank him so much for making the game.

In Metal Gear Solid you assume the role of Solid Snake. Your mission, infiltrate the Nuclear Waste Facility on Shadow Moses Island, find the DARPA Cheif Donald Anderson and get him out of there. It sounds simple enough right? Wrong! I don't want to spoil any of the excellent story, but as you play through the game you come to find out that there is way more to worry about.
Metal Gear Solid has one of the best stories I have ever had the pleasure of hearing/playing through. The story is completely original and will keep you wondering until the last words of the credits slowly roll down the screen.
But just a good story cannot make a game, MGS has the most impressive graphics and game play I've seen to date on the PS1. All the way through the game the control never become difficult to handle. I was also extremely impressed with the way Konami used vibrations to further advance the games realism. Playing with a Dual Shock Controller makes this game that much better. It enhances the realism of the game by making the struggle from an unsuspecting guard being choked out vibrate the controller. I mean how much better can you get?
The game is great, it has a top-notch story, the best graphics I've seen on the PS1 up to date, great control, and an unbelievable soundtrack. I gave Metal Gear Solid 10/10.

If you play Metal Gear Solid, the graphics won't seem as good as they were three or four years ago because they're not, obviously. Although in the cut scenes the characters mouths don't move (well it doesn't appear that they do anyway) the story is still as captivating as it was when I played it for the first time back in 1998. The game play is sensational. The only problem is the lack of first person view, but that's ok it was fixed in the second one. You will be hooked on this game until you finish it. It had me playing all day and all night trying to beat it. Once I beat it I still wanted to play. That's the great thing about Metal Gear Solid, once you beat it there's still an incentive to play it. like getting a different ending, getting unlimited ammo, or best of all the stealth armor that makes you invisible. That's right invisible! You'll also love the characters. I found myself very concerned when a certain someone is shot by a sniper. Of course the boss characters were also very cool. And then there's that main character SOLID SNAKE the most bad < remove me > at $$ video game hero ever! So don't waste your time with second rate games like Syphon Filter (not that that's a bad game its just a second rate game.) Get the real thing. The greatest playstation 1 game ever!

Metal Gear Solid is a game that make the owner had to think seriously or you will be beaten by the enemy.It will a high IQ like Snake itself.You also will experience the game with dual shock controller like escaping from swarm of enemies and boss battle. Fell the differences.....Hell yeah to Snake !!! Metal Gear Solid has one of the best stories I have ever had the pleasure of hearing/playing through. The best part is you can choose your own path not like any other tactical games. Boring and so on ... To all the die hard fans of tactical games, I suggest that Metal Gear Solid is the best solution. Also try the new Metal Gear Solid 2, Sons Of Liberty (PS2) and Metal Gear Solid X (X-Box i think) Get it or you'll gonna suffer a major loss. So with all the great stuff from Konami's special game lab I wish for the bright future of Metal Gear Solid. Konami ROCKS!!!

I must admit, this game does have the right stuff to make it a all time favorite for many gamers across the globe. You are solid snake, a trained killer and feared by many terrorist groups due to the tatical fighting skills that you possses. Never the less, guards are deadly, smart and effective killers as well as you are and should be avoided if possiable as you wind your way through the Shadow Moses complex. Strange events such as the ninja, the Fox Die Virus, Liquid Snake, and the shady Fox Hound Unit are all beautifully crafted into this game for the ultimate experience that no one should not witness. Please purchase this game, its quite the buy if you ask me since MGS2 (a complete screw up of a game) came out. If you like on the edge, nail biting, and ever so changing events, then pick up your controller and start the battle by buying this game amd stowing it away in a very safe place foreva! - The Review Board

I think Metal Gear Solid deserves a whole different section in the store for it. A big sign in the center of Wal-Mart or K-Mart, or where ever, that says "THE GAME". Syphon Filter didn't even deserve to be called a MGS clone. Hell nah. MGS has the best story line I've ever heard. In fact I wrote it all out like a novel just to have something to read. The many secrets of the game are the best. The gameshark codes should've never existed. If you're a true MGS fan, then you would have beat it like all the MGS pro-players. THE OLD FASHION WAY. And if you truely are a fan, then you will be the first in line to buy MGS2:SOL. And no that's not "S**t Outta Luck". That's Sons of Liberty.
This game doesn't deserve a 10 (best). It deserves a 1. But you know where? . . . in the "THE GAME" section. Because there is no other game that lives up to the tactial espoinage that is METAL GEAR SOLID. I give it two middle fingers up to all the other games, until MGS2:SOL comes out.

Metal Gear Solid is not only just a video game, it's like a way of life. This game is pretty addictive man I mean it sucks you in and just doesnt let you go! I love this game because first of all the game has great graphics, and second of all the plot to this game is just incredible! I cannot stress enough on how great this game is. When i bought it i was skeptical at first but it just blew me away and ever since i cant stop playing it! There are alot of great clear sounds this game makes too i mean its just so clear! This game is so fun that you can sit there on your butt and play it for like 7 hours and fell like its been 2. This game is a classic and will be remembered for years to come as one of the best games ever! Not only does this game also have 2 great endings you can also choose there fate! Over all this is a truly incredible game so you should get it!

Well what can i say that has not already been said by all the true gamers out there?!. Sorry to sound repetitive but this is one of the best games on the market and will live forever as a standard that game manufacturers and players will want and demand from now on. You have not yet played MGS yet, then i envy you. I have searched long and hard for games that capture my attention so well as MGS and not many have come close(dino crisis1, tenchu1, MOH1). Most are either great in the begining but loose it in the end or bad in the beginning and great in the end.
Anyway for a game to have, this is one not to go without. Still thinking about buying it or renting it?. Stop go to your closest store, take it off the shelf, pay for it at the counter, take it home, pop it into you station and start playing. Simple ain't it?!. A must on any console owners shelf!.

Well my friend,if your here that means your looking for input on the BEST playstation game ever released,Metal Gear Solid.And that isn't an overshot,this is by far the most entertaining tactical espionage game (next to its sequal) ever created.I still enjoy playing this game now,even 5 years after its release. Its full of plot twists,human drama that would make 'Days of our Lives' stars gasp,and a wonderful new approach at most games of its kind.All in all,this is the only game which plays out like an interactive movie.The characters are just full of dimension unlike other games and it keeps within the boundries of reality [for the most part ;)] So all in all,this game is a MUST buy for anyone who owns a Playstation console. It will have you in front of the TV for hours just wondering what changes and surprises are around the next corner!!

This is still the best game ever as far as story goes. Although the sequel on the playstation2 beats it in every other aspect the plot is still the best that there is around. The charactors in mgs are simply brillant each one of them bringing a new toy to the party. All of the charactors (espicially Nioma) are vital to the development of the complex yet easy-to-follow plot. The graphics where way ahead of there time and although it looks like utter $#< remove me > at ! now are still good for a ps1 game. The gameplay is still superb and always will be. This is the game that single handedly relaunched the stealth/action genre and now games actually try to tell a story. This was one of the biggest revelotions in video game history and is still well worth getting (even if you have a playstationg2).

First off, if you don't have the game......GET IT NOW BECAUSE YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!! This game has it all great, graphics, great sounds, great controls, good views, great story lines, and SUPER DUPER weapons and stealthy things. You can go for different approaches by the straight shootin' king or you can go around putting C4 in the guys backpocket (although it just kinda floats on his back) and then BOOOOOM!! The guy is toast. Many things happen through out the game that adds to the fun, like Psycho Mantis, and his little controller across the floor thing. OOooooOOOh I was really scared, NOT! I laughed like hell. Oh well, Get this game or everyone might laugh at you for missing a game that wreaks of awesomeness.

This game is one of the best games i played in Playstation 1. The graphics for this was so great. The sound even better.... This game is also very suspenseful because you can get caught so fast and very easily.. although it was beatable. The gameplay was great...i liked all the weapons, enemies and the missions...they were really fun to play. IF you were purchasing this game..i would definetly consider this game... The fun factor was awesome cause you were always on the edge of the seat when playing this game. The orginaltly was so good that i thought i was always gonna get caught when i play this game... I give this game a 10 because it is one of the best games i have ever played in playstaion 1.

You are Solid snake a retired army fighter sent to infiltrate the Metal Gear project taken over by terrorists.You are lightly armed and have to avoid firefights in order to survive.Along the way you will meet a crew of characters some good some bad.One character you won't forget is Meyrl.She helps you later in the game after you meet her. You use a codec to talk to the characters and they have frequencies. There are many types of terrorists and bosses along the way.Graphics are ok and the movies are great.Content is pretty heavy and I wouldn't recomend this game to younger players. Metal Gear Solid is the best game ever. The game has everything from remote controlled missle launchers to claymore mines, from alternate costumes to multiple endings. The sound of bombs exploding was great, the graphics were awesome, and the storyline was great. what I liked the most was fighting the Ninja a cyborg robot type person. My favorite weapon in the stinger missle,the stinger missle is a heat seeking missle launcher. The worst thing about this game is uhm uh ah something Idunno what is the worst thing about I like everything about tis game. The only game that is better than this one is Metal Gear Solid 2 subtance. this is a very very very very good game

I have now moved on and bought a playstation2 but i found it impossible not to write a review for the best game of the 64-32 bit gaming time. This game was easily the best game on playstation and 64 which is no mean feat. The second is better but there on different consoles so it is not fair to compare them. The thing that sets this game aside from other titles is its realism, gameplay and the plot is yet to be beaten on any gaming system. Snake also happens to be the best main character ever in a video game. Trust me even if you have a playstation2 this game is still worth getting although its sequel does surpass it (not in the plot).

well this is definitly Hideo at his best. it makes for a great movie style game a little too much talking for me but you can skip it so thats good. but its an epic story that is sure to draw you in by the time you here the first neck snap! when you have options like hiding in a cardboard box, slapping some c-4 on some poor guards back, or just plain blowing some terdhead away point-plank with a rocketlauncher how can you say that the game isn't promising. Well it's more than promising and I recommend anyone from the hardcore to the casual gamer to pick up this title the only thing better is metal gear 2: sons of liberty.

absolutly FAB. it is sooooo adictive ive played it and completed it loads and didn't even need a walkthrough!!!! I use the cheats tho. I hope loads more epople buy this game and ENJOY IT!!!! I love all the action and the atmosphere while watching it, though i swear ive busted a controller playing so much as one of the buttons is broken! lol. I would reccomend this game to anyone, and i have gotten several people to play it and they feel the same way. Of course the language is mostly american but i like the way there are some english people in there like Naomi and Liquid snake.

If you don't got this game you suck. GEEZE Go out and buy it now, I just got done concering this game, it's tied for my favirote game. It's just as good as half life. It has great graphics and sound. The story just keeps you guesing. I'll tell you this, you will be suprised at the end when you find out one of your good friends is Liquid Snake. You get all kinds of weapons, my personal favirote is the stinger (rocker launcher). You get to fight a tank and a hind (helicopter). If this game kicks but, I wonder what MGS 2 must be like. your missing out unless you got this game.
