Atmospheric title which will entertain most survival horror enthusiasts. |
| long time videogame player from City:Melbourne State:Victoria Country:Australia says (18/Nov/2000): |
Parasite Eve is one of the better survival horror titles available for the Playstation. Although it cannot match the undisputed brilliance of the Resident Evil series, in particular Nemesis, it is still a worthwile play in its own right. The game, while blending in some rpg elements such as its unique battle system, cannot be classified by any means as an rpg. It really is a survival horror game with a few rpg aspects incorporated throughout. The battle system is probably the game's greatest flaw, as similarly to the Final Fantasy series, enemies attack from nowhere. How this was supposed to work in a surivival horror game I dont know. Yet the pro's certainly outweigh the con's. Although the graphics are not the greatest, they are fair and the cut scenes are amazing. The music is also highly effective in setting the mood and atmosphere. The storyline is great, as the player is swept into the action pretty much immediately. The heroine is likeable and the plot is innovative and develops well. However, the big baddy of the game, Eve, does little to frighten the player and is quite timid when compared to the terrifiying presence of Nemisis in Resident Evil 3. Overall, Parasite Eve, although lacking in some key departments, notably the fighting system, is essentialy a good game. If you have finished the Resident Evil series and Silent Hill, and still crave for some survival horror, give it a try. Just don't expect a masterpiece.

A Really Good Game! One Of Square's finest |
| Adrienne from Indiana,USA says (27/May/2004): |
I personally liked the game. It was really different, but I thought that was one of it's strong points. And no offense to
anyone else, I really didn't think this game was a horror-surrvial game myself, to me it was more of a dramic action
thriller. To me it wasn't really scary. So I don't think it's
fair to say that it's on the same level as Resident Evil. Personally, I thought that game took on a whole different story
then your typical horror surrvial game, it wasn't about escaping
the city alive, more then it was to solve the mystery in Aya's
past and deal with the problem head on. But the game itself has
it's faults as any other game. The controls made the movements
blocky, which I thought was irritating, but the game play I like. The battle system was great to me, you had more control
over the battle. I loved the story line, I really got into it.
I have to say that game was kinda short, but I liked how they
made a EX game so you could play it through again. To me, I thought Square did a really good job on the game, I thought the
CG were beautiful. Overall, I thought the game derserved a 10.

OH MY GOD! |
| A gamer says (29/Nov/2003): |
This entire game is BEAUTIFUL! Everything about it is just...wow.
At first glance you'll probably think "Resident Evil wannabe" but it's NOT I PROMISE no i'd stake my life on that.
This game is highly original and very VERY thrilling.
It was like watching a shakespear play that never gets old.
For when it was released this game's graphics were...wow. I can't imagine anyone hating this game.
First things first...this is NOT a survival horror, it IS an RPG. Yes a ROLE PLAYING GAME. So shut the hell up about "slow firefights" this game requires strategy and nothing but.
And yes this game is HARD, and I do mean HARD, but there is a way to beat every enemy you see, unless you look at guides.
I suggest you give this game a good play through (it's cheap now) if you want a good time. I'd rate this as high as Xeno, everything about this game just gives you the feeling of being in NYC and I Was NEVER dissapointed...seriously.

Not bad at all! |
| Phil Anselmo from Fort Worth, Texas, USA says (6/Jan/2002): |
This is a great game! I actually would've given this game about a 8 3/4 score.
The graphics on this game are incredible! An easy decision there.
The storyline is awesome, it's A LOT better than those RPG-type storylines. I mean those storylines that are basically "bad guy wants to destroy or conquer the planet".
The amount of gameplay you get out of this is okay, its on the short side. But if you actually get into the game, then you'd wanna keep playing this game over and over.
The amount of fun, its good, but not excellent. The main part of the fun factor is the battle system. The great thing about the battle system is, that you actually like going into battles!
But the main reason I didnt give this game a perfect 10, is that it is a short game. But its actually quite entertaining!
So go buy it! You can't really find it NEW today, but if you can find a used game that's in good condition, then buy it!

It was a great game. |
| Strider from Cheboygan, MI America says (16/Jul/2001): |
Parasite Eve had to offer many things. For starters, the FMV scenes were spectacular. Any particular stage you went to looked almost like the designers actually took a peice out of NYC and placed someone in it. The controls were also fairly decent, and the battle scenes were very realistic and allowed you and your opponents to evade ,reposition and attack, unlike the most popularily used HP system. The game-play characters were also very good, but considering they were kinda blocky I pulled my rating down to 9. I would recommend this game to anyone who is just getting into rpg games. The storyline is easy to follow, and it is something a little more than Final Fantasy.

Another very good game from Square Soft |
| SJ Cecil from Archdale, NC (USA) says (11/May/2001): |
Parasite Eve has pretty good graphics and music. The only thing lacking in this game is the battle engine. Instead of incorporating real time battles, like Resident Evil or PE2, they are generated at random. Which is cool if you're into rpgs. However, PE is more action than rpg, thus making fighting randomly a little frustrating. If you've never played this game, it can be best described as Resident Evil meets Vagrant Story. The FMVs and the storyline really bail this game out. It has an extended mode, which gives the game some replay value. All in all, Parasite Eve is worthy of playing. However, the sequel is much, much better.

Aya: Goddess of the RPGs |
| Jason from Milwaukee says (24/Jan/2002): |
Parasite Eve is a action packed thrill ride from start to finish. This game has a modern day setting that everyone knows. The main thrill of this creepy yet thrilling cinematic rpg shows a problem that could in real life actually happen. The graphics are great for the time of the games release and for the dumb-ass who said that they don't speak right when you get dust on the game, hello, any game you get dust would do the same thing.
The main character of this beautifully crafted rpg is a strong female with inner problems which breaks the traditional rpg cliche.

This game is great!.. |
| Seifer2095 from Elma,N.Y,USA says (8/May/2001): |
I liked it alot but when you battle it sucks! it got a fair play style. I also liked it because it reminds me a bit of the Resident evil games like Nemesis follwing you breaking through windows!Eve is like Nemesis to. I only wish that it could have like zombies and NOT JUST GUNS! But the gameplay is good and graphics are good and the FMV's make it up. It has a cool lifespan and nice plot but a bit strange... But overall this game is at least a 8.5 or 9.5 or maybe a 10.! Iam playing parasite2 and its got better too!
|
The worst RPG ever dont buy it. |
| Johhny Cash from King Of Fighters says (27/Oct/2001): |
I hate this game it has horrible control and its boring.
The main charecters are stupid idiots who dont speak right. They say the wrong things if you get dust on this game so thats stupid.
It has a very bad story. Its mostley about how this one ugly ladie got robbed off the street.
Its too easy and it has a terrible ending.
There damn hands and bodie parts go through the walls.
And theres no mulytiplayer mode.
Dont waste your money.
|
This game ROCKS!! |
| Janey from Las Vegas, Nevada , USA says (15/Jun/2005): |
Omg I bought this game like a month ago with a guide. (Now the Guide i recommend you buy because it is so helpful) neways this game has really good FMV and its a game where you can fight your way to the end AND!!!! when you thought it was going to be over did you know there is an EX MODE ??? after you beat the game... you can pick a choice of your weapon and armor then do it again to beat the game easily ... If you like guns buy this game
|
exellent |
| Haley angell from Dutton oantario says (1/Mar/2003): |
We really enjoyed Pe 2 ,we would like to see another PE come out the game was great. We like the replay mode idea as well, cause u can keep playing and get better weapons and armor at the beginning .The best weapon i found that worked well was the M4a1 Rifle/grenade or the riffle clip holder. It worked best against the bosses at the end of the game.
|
A very very good rpg. |
| Caleb Rees says (4/Jan/2003): |
Parasite Eve is one of my personal favorites. This game should definately be more recognized because its a great game. The main character is awesome and the music is great. The story line is good but could have been better. Its hard to get used to but you get the way to play down fast.Possibly a game to rent before buying.
|
This game is awesome |
| Kyle from Ontario canada says (14/Aug/2000): |
As soon as I put disc 1 in for the first time I just sat back and watched the opening movie sequence,I knew form there that this game was going to be cool. This game has it all from cool cineimatics to the the very awesome game play, the graphics and the sound aren't that bad ethier
|
Yeah.... Baby! |
| Mark from London, England says (13/Dec/2000): |
After the shock of the low quality of the graphics after the butt-kicking FMV, it turns out to be a major quality game. Probably best described as resident evil meets silent hill, meets FF5, Parasite Eve has a hugely engrossing plot and plenty of stuff to kill, perfect.
