An interesting but not well put together game. | | A gamer from Massachussetts, USA says (19/Jun/2004): | It became quite appearant to me that Shadow Ops: Red Mercury was not ready for public distribution and sale. The graphics are very rough and the character models seem to have been made an older engine. The bodies look to be from Goldeneye on the old N64 (the good old days when we were careless little tikes and still had all our innocence.)
On the opening of the mission "Change of Plans," immediately a glitch appeared (kinda not surprised based on the graphics.) The whole screen was yellow with the exception of the HUD display and the hand gun my character was holding (although it was being shown inside-out.) Perhaps the good people at Zombie were too busy making sure all the sound and cinematics were in working condition to actually test the game thouroughly.
However, even though the game does appear to be slapped together, (whether that be carelessness or maybe the modelers are still living in the N64 days) the game is fun and I highly suggest you go and get it (by which means is up to you.) If you can just look past the sorry model graphics and slow frame-rate as well as the long amount of time it takes to load each section of the maps, you will find a game that is really kinda kool. The sound is wonderful (thanks George Lucas for THX!!) and the cinematics as well as the storyline are captivating. Definitely worth at least renting it....
