The best rpg storyline ever | | Gothrael Vordebon from Hamrun, Malta says (22/Jun/2004): | I really like this game. It's got fantastic graphics and breathtaking landscapes. The storyline unfolds unlike anything I've seen before in any other fantasy game, and most of the characters are excellent, both in appearance and in personality. My favorite good guy is Stinger and my favorite enemy is Lord Mannheim. Another good thing in this game is the fact that it has a great history background, from how the Darg found its way to Arkose to how the Mage Kings became extinct. But, okay... every game has it's own flaws. Shadow Madness is very easy, almost too easy to play, even on the "hardest" difficulty setting. Most bosses have around 3000 HP but a character can sometimes inflict 270 damage with a single attack, 540 damage with a double strike and around 300 with a spell, while the highest attack a boss can inflict on a single character is around 150 damage. Let alone having three. There is no real challenge here. Another thing that pissed me off was the magic. Most spells, apart from the fmv ones, suck! Take the drake ball spell, it's just a green and red ball hurled at your opponent which creates a green explosion on contact. Things would've gone better if it was a fiery red ball instead. But above all, Shadow Madness is easy to enjoy, and only beefcakes say otherwise. If you are an rpg lover you'll be too attracted to the story and give little notice of the rest. With a bit more attention and carefulness, this game could have easily became one of the best rpg's ever. But crave decided to leave it at that.
| An Awsome Game And Those Who Think Different Suck | | Spawn says (6/Nov/2003): | This Has To Be One Of The Best Games I Have Ever Played. I Congradgulate The Makers On A Job Well Done. I Have To Give This Game 10 Stars Because It Has Good Graphics And A Really Good Story Line. The Only Problem Is,It Is Way To Easy To Beat But I Say Again, It Is A Awsome RPG.
| Just a FFVII duplicate, poorly executed? | | Matt Ruhl from Brisbane, Australia says (3/Nov/2001): | Shadow madness, while a good a good American RPG, is not a good RPG in the true sense of the phrase. The rendered backgrounds are excellent, but the complementary 3D characters are blocky and pologonal, and the battles are no better: each battle is fairly easy if you are at a high enough level and playing through each boss uses the same startegy at the last. However, SM ceratinly does not lack in creativity nor excellent research and witty script writers. If intelligent, creative and detailed dialohue is your thing, definately give it a try, but hire it out first to see if you like it first. A good effort from Crave, but perhaps a better try next time: RPGs should be more original than just FFVII in a new and somewhat bland skin.
