A Great Action/Adventure Game |

Syphon Filter lived up to its reputation, ans is quite possibly, the top 20 PSX titles made. A variety of weapons and great graphics make this game a sure fire hit!
Graphics: Straight up, this game has some good graphics but certainly not the best I've seen. Sometimes it can be blurred but not often. The characters and environment could be sharper. These are pretty good graphics overall but the environments could have been a little more detailed.
Sound: There is good sound with this game with different music on different levels. Whats unique about the sound is that it grows more climactic or slower as the game progresses. You probably won't be worried about the sound because you will be so into the game.
Gameplay: Overall, the gameplay is exceptional. The only downfall is the hard time you have killing the enemy. It takes three body shots to kill one person yet only one shot kill is at the head. That's very inconvenient however. The different weapons, characters, and enemies are what make this game awesome.
Lifespan: I personally had hours with this game and it can sort of be addicting. If you are into violent games, you won't be able to stop playing this game. It should last you for some months depending on your personal taste.
Fun Factor: This game can be fun but frustrating because of the having to shoot the guy three of four times factor. Other than that, its fun to play.
Originality: Its a title on its own but there have been games like it. Same fun as before except more options and wider environments.
Overall: Rent it first and you decide.

It was a good game but it could have been better. The graphics aren't exactly brilliant but then they shouldn't be as good as they are today (end of 2002) considering the fact that it was about 3 years ago when it came out. The sound is good but because I played SF2 first I found SF1 sound repetitive. Not as good a story line as SF2 but still decent. A nice choice of levels. They change at the same time. I think either MGS copied SF1 or vice versa because all though they are in different locations - Rhoemer's base is covered in snow, you have to infiltrate on foot, go inside the bunker, go on the roof of a communications tower and take out a chopper and the escape being a race against time. One of the games must have copied the other - they are too similar.
Overall a decent game. Not the best game of the SF trilogy but still glad I got my hands on a copy.

The game is pretty good. Although the in-game graphics aren't stunning, the game is very fun! On the flipside of that, you could call it a Metal Gear Solid Rip-off. (I mean this by the "Rhoemer's Base, Base Bunker, Base Tower, Base escape" levels.) I mean, think about it - MGS, you have to infiltrate on foot inside. SF1 - you have to do the same. MGS, you have to get to the roof where a radar dish is. SF1 - the same thing. MGS, you have to destroy a Helicopter on that roof. SF1 - the same thing again. Luckily, the game has other levels, but from this standpoint, it could have been better.

This is a superb game. Dont let the graphics put u off it. It is as action packed as any other playstation game. the story line is great, the gameplay is smooth, the controls are as easy as ABC and the sound is realistic. If u liked metal gear solid then ur gonna love this! The game involves you u tracking down a virus that is deadly to humans. Together Gabriel Logan (the main character) and Lian Xing (his comrade)search for the virus and try to eliminate it. This is a great game.i recommend it to anyone who likes action.

Graphics were somewhat smooth, beautiful cinematics, some clipping but not enough to ruin the game. The sound is awsome. What other game give you the screams of a terrorist that you are burning to death with you tazer? Controls are good and the anolog compatability is great but character moves kind of akward. I think Gabe should have a longer life span because you can die to easily. This game is one of the funnest I have ever played in my life. A must own video game.

this game is awesome! im a huge sf fan. it has good cheats. the graphics are a little shabby but good. i like the in game movies & cut scenes the sound id give a 10, the graphics a 8. this game is the best game on playstation ive ever played. i have sf3 but i liked this one more. i dont have playstation2 which sf4 probably will come out on but no matter what ill get the game & console.all in all this game ROCKS.

The gameplay is fun and realistic, but when these guy's is trying to talk to each other, even I get confused. The one of the best thing's I have seen in this is the number of weapon's and explosivs. The misson's is fun and good looking.
So, if you close you'r eyes when the movie clips comes, you should have a GREAT time!!!

Syphon filter is the second best in the series it would be better if it had more and better weapons like in SF2 but they dont it also would be better with blood. So in overall SF1 is a good/okay game buy it if you are a syphon freak otherwise switch to SF2.
