Well, I had high hopes to this game, as I loved Vandal Hearts. But sadly this game dissapoints in nearly every aspect compared to Vandal Hearts.
Presentation 6: Well, the character portraits are improved, thank god for that. Not that the big nosed portraits bothered me that much, but still, it was a nice improvement. But, this game has no FMV cut scenes. Maybe you don't think that's important, but I like to be rewarded every now and then with a nice flashy cutscene. At least an intro, like the short, but nice intro in VH ^_^
Graphics 7: Basically the same as in the first installment, but with some improvements.
Sound/Music 6: The music is very mediocre. The first Vandal Hearts game had some memorable tunes, but VH2 has none... And the sound effects are basically the same as in the first VH.
Plot 7: The plot is OK enough I guess, but nothing compared to Vandal Hearts. The characters aren't as memorable either, as those in the first installment. I don't think I even remember any of the character names...
Gameplay 9: Here's one of the bright spots. The battle engine is very nice, at least on par with Vandal Hearts. Just don't expect final fantasy tactics gameplay ^_^
Replay 7: Well, I would never play this game twice. Don't misunderstand me, the game is OK, but, one time is enough, at least for me. But, the multiple endigs and secrets along the way might make some one play through it nice.
Tilt 8: Well, this is no Final Fantasy Tactics, and it's not as good as the first installment of the series either. That doesn't mean it's a bad game. It's definatly better than average, and several times better than, let's say HOSHIGAMI... Hoshigami sucks, but, this is a VH2 review...*cough* Summed up this is a game without a fantastic plot, graphics and music, but with great gameplay. If you like strategy-RPG's you should definatly give this a try
