Thumbs down! | | Rich from Riverside RI USA says (20/Aug/2003): | This game was the pits! I hated the graphics, the controls stink, and the hidden characters are ridiculous! I was so bored by the slow movements and the silly hidden characters. There was no exciting moments here, I was bored after five minutes. The store I got it let me return it, because over thirty people also returned it the same day it was released! It could have been a classic game if it was worked on, but I believe it was rushed into production too soon. One star is all it gets!
| WCW Is the Worst Wrestling Game Made! | | Ron Fowler from Seaford, DE says (29/Oct/2000): | Talk about a horrible game...this game fits that category well. I would have rate this game a zero if I was allowed to. Take my word for it, go out and buy Wrestlemania 2000 and be happy.
Graphics: This game, simply from the bottom of my heart, has no graphics what so ever. The characters are blurred, and sometimes you can't tell the difference between two characters. There is no clarity at all. That is all I can say about the graphics, but if you want me to tell you it sucks, I'll be more than happy to tell you.
Sound: The sound when you play the game the first 100 times can be okay. After a while however, the same songs that they play get very annoying. Of course you can turn the music off, but you have to have sound while you play, right. The sound has no value to the game, but seems to be the strong point of the game.
Gameplay: Like I said, go out and buy Wrestlemania2000. The gameplay of the game is the worst part of WCW Nitro. Not only does it get annoying pushing a punch of buttons, most of the time the buttons you push won't make them do anything. For example, you have to push at least 5 buttons for Sting to do his Scorpion Death Lock. That is crap. I believe that in wrestling games you don't have to do a backflip, turn around, do the hokey pokey, and stand on your head to pull off a move. Thats what you have to do for this game. There is one point in this game that I did LIKE which was unlocking the characters. I also liked when you could press the O button to make them say crap. Other than that, the gameplay sucked.
Lifespan: I have two words for you: Two Seconds. The only thing that will keep you playing is by trying to unlock all the characters. Other than that, its going to be in your closet gathering dust.
Fun Factor: Well, while this game can be fun for a while, it's definitely not addicting. This game can be fun for those who haven't heard of tiles like WCW Revenge or WWF Wrestlemania 2000. Lets just say it's about as fun a playing hide-and-seek with your 2 year old cousins.
Originality: WCW Nitro was a pioneer of wrestling video games on PSX and still is. It lacked things like a create a character, weapon matches, and royal rumbles but you get the idea.
Overall: THQ could have done a better job on a long awaited title. It had a short moment in the spot light, but now it is a veteran of wrestling games. Buying it 2 or 3 years ago would have been okay. I threw my copy of WCW Nitro away after I got WCW Revenge. DON'T BUY THIS GAME!
