The Holy Grail of Gaming | | GamePunk429 says (14/Nov/2004): | Im not gonna beat around the bush. This game is the reason I play games today, it is the reason I am a hardcore gamer simple as that. This game has everything, story, charactesr, graphics, music, and gameplay. Its perfectin every way, a must buy, a instant classic and the greatest game of all time.
I have play this game almost religiously, in fact ever sicne I got it in 95 I have beaten it 18 times. It never gets old and I dont know why, its just in my opinion the perfect game. A must own, go buy it now.
| WHOA THIS GAME BEATS ANY RPG I'VE EVER PLAYED!!!!!!!!! | | Jeffrey from Mississauga,Ontario,Canada says (22/Oct/2004): | I've played many rpg games before but whoa I was hooked on the game.Although that was a long time ago I still remember the time when I played Chrono Trigger I couldn't let go of the controller.I've even skipped school ones just to play the game!!They should remake the game for X-BOX,GAMECUBE and PS2.Imagine that the graphics would be 10x better than before(i still like the graphics though).Anyways the music was AWESOME especially the BATTLE THEME and the OPENING THEME.Overall Chrono Trigger is the BEST game ever made!!!!!!!!!
| Best game ever! | | Lydia says (2/Oct/2004): | I absolutely love Chrono Trigger! It's the best game ever because it has unique characters (which you get to name, if you want), and it has secrets and helpful little hints hidden all over the place. It provides a very interesting mission, which always surprises you and has a twist to it. I remember my older sister always used to let me play it, and from then I was hooked. I went out and bought my own copy and I think it's the best decision I've ever made. If you haven't tried it, go out and buy the game. I promise it'll be worth the money (and the time!).
| I got the game a week ago and couldn't let go of it 's that good! | | Giraffesforsale from Grandville Mi USA says (11/Jul/2004): | I really liked the game because it had a whole variety of characters. They may of been odd once and awhile but it was nice that all the characters weren't only human for once in a game. And it also had very great graphics for a super nitendo better than some final fantasy games I've played. Also I got lucky to because my neighbor hood was having a whole bunch of garage sales and Igot it at the end of the day for fifteen dollers with I had to look all over for and also borrow. And out fo all the characters I would have to say I liked Mangus the best or janus what ever you would like to call him. I also liked the game becase it was diffrent from my Mario all-stars game witch I was getting bored of. I personally thought it was original because no other game has so many endings or such a vast array of techs and characters. Out of a fun factor I give it a ten out of ten because of the just over all game play and also for the side missions. My favorite was when you had to prove the king did not sell the ranbow shell. Also you have to think that its ironic that you had to pour pop on to toma's grave I mean who in real life would have you do that. I also got lucky that I got this game because my friend almost bought it because he wanted it too. But I personally wouldn't sell the game at all. I like it so much ill probably still be playing it till I'm thirty seven if not older.
| THIS IZ THE SHIZNITS | | Samuel from Philladelphia Pensyllvania USA says (1/Dec/2003): | i been playin rpg's all my life but i never played ne like this.i got the game yesterdy and im already hooked.the only reason im not playin it now is because i let someone borrow it for a day.you gotta buy this now or at leaste play a demo.
| My favorite RPG | | Andrew from North Carolina says (25/Nov/2003): | Well its year 2003, but i came around to the snes rom "Chrono Trigger" it was the most amazing rpg i ever played, and its on super nintendo (the graphics as well, since its snes, the graphics are way far out for that console)
I usally play Final Fantasy Games, like FFX (Yuna looks nice ;)
But my 2 Favorites are Chrono Trigger & Legend of the Dragoon
=]
| This game is so good the should make a sequel to it | | A gamer from Seattle, Washington USA says (6/Nov/2003): | I love how it the uses time traveling and isn't like our world and much more interesting. This game is really fun on Active mode because battles go a lot faster than other RPG's were you could just sit their forever its much more realistic for an RPG game. That would be awesome if they make a Super Smash Bros. type of fighting game with all the characters because none of them suck unlike other RPG's where one or a few of the character suck and one guy is super buff.
| Its OK | | Danny from Brownsville TX says (26/Sep/2003): | I had played alot of game like final fantasyX and Xenosaga you have to try one of dost game. Crono Trigger its ok but its cofusion in getting items and weapons. I play alot of rpg games beacuse there so cool. Have anybody play this games: final fantasyX, Xenosaga, .hack games, Lengend of dragoon, ect.
| The Best Game Ever!!!!!! | | A gamer from London says (7/Aug/2003): | The game is brilliant and I so totally think it is the best game i've ever played! The storyline is excellant but there are many confusing stages throughout the game but you understand it later on. It is soooo great that i'm playing it right now!I think that everyone should play this game because the music the storyline and the characters are not so easily forgetable.
| yay, do the happy dance | | Chrono Nigger from Please enter your city (state) and country says (29/Jun/2003): | The Simpsons, created by Matt Groening, began in 1987 as a series of 30-second spots for The Tracey Ullman Show. These 30-second shorts included the full family. The show then premiered on FOX as a half hour-comedy on 14th January 1990. It has enjoyed immense popularity employing a wide range of comic devices, from irony to slapstick and was also one of the first sit-coms to have depicted a working-class, nuclear family.
The target audience is adults, skewed towards the upscale with its highbrow humour 15-35 yrs but it is also targeted at kids 5-15 yrs
I enjoy watching The Simpsons as it has clever plots and it also comments on and criticises the contemporary U.S. society.
This American comedy is based on the daily events, issues and adventures of the Simpsons family. The majority of the episodes are set in and around a small local town by the name of “Springfield”.
Every episode begins in “Springfield” and uses the same music theme. The opening of each episode also acts as a small introduction to the characters and various aspects of the town. Stereotypes of the characters can also immediately be made. Eg. Bart is seen writing out lines on the blackboard as a result of bad behaviour during school. This illustrates that he is the typical young boy, mischievous and a troublemaker.
The comic trap in The Simpsons is family and the flow of humour is multidirectional, although homer generates the majority of the comedy. The other characters although important, are not as dominant.
Homer Simpson is the common man in a simple world. He is fat, lazy, irresponsible, and dim-witted. Although caring, his actions often reflect his inability to think matters through carefully. This can be observed as a shop clerk very easily persuades Homer, within a matter of moments, into buying a high-end $5000 computer. He is the opposite stereotype as he is irrational and indecisive and is often disempowered by his lack of awareness and stupidity. Homer also prizes food above all else. These attributes make him undoubtedly the funniest character.
Marge Simpson, Homer’s wife, is the stereotypical housewife. She is caring and looks after the kids. She is also very thoughtful and rational. She is Homer’s oppositional character. Marge’s appearance is also somewhat comical as she has very tall blue hair. Lisa and Bart are also oppositional characters. Lisa, aged 8, is smart and the typical teacher’s pet. Bart, aged 10, however is quite the opposite. He is the prime suspect of every wrongdoing and incident at school, and is disliked by his teacher and the principle.
Maggie, although not as important or as dominant as the other characters, gives viewers the impression of the typical nuclear family.
The episode that I have chosen is called “The Computer Wore Menace Shoes”. It is about Homer realising that he is in dire need of a computer in order to access the Internet. After being conned into buying a $5000 computer, he decides to make his own web page. When his web page isn’t getting any visitors, he begins anonymously spreading local rumour and makes things up when his sources run dry. After stumbling across a conspiracy the events begin to snowball.
He is kidnapped to a place called “The Island” and awakens to find himself surrounded by strange animals, people and things. Incongruity can be seen here as homer runs into a phone booth trying to call for help, when toxic gas begins pouring out of the phone. He then meets the “Master” whose appearance is of a stereotypical villain. He is thin, old and speaks with a British accent. Homer’s love for food can be seen here as the master offers him ice cream that is clearly filled with drugs and syringes. At first Homer is objective to eating it but as the Master begins talk, a quick scene change shows homer with his face in the ice cream and paying no attention to the Master.
When he arrives back home, having escaped “The Island” using a raft, the rest of the family are then surprisingly gassed by their dog and are all taken back to “The Island”.
The major discourse in The Simpsons is a class discourse as they are a working class family. This can be seen, as they do not have expensive cars or good furniture. A family discourse is also seen, as they are a typical family.
One group of resistant viewers may be British people as the Master is portrayed as villainous, and fiendish.
Over 300 episodes of The Simpsons have now been produced and it continues to be enjoyed and loved by its viewers.
| I love this game! | | Chrono Trigger says (19/Jun/2003): | Chrono Trigger is a great rpg. I've never liked RPGs, but I always played them anyway. But after playing Chrono Trigger just once, I got totaly hooked. You do have to follow the story line, but its not like alot of RPGs where you HAVE to go to the next part. In this, you can go where ever you want aslong as your not escaping from the prison, or in the middle of a battle.
| This game is great! | | Vyoral from Oakley, Idaho (United States) says (19/Jun/2003): | Amazing!!!
I had a bunch of fun playing this game. The graphics are incredile. The music is unbeatable. The plot is enchanting. The characters rock. I also like
the wide range of sidequests and fun minigames. I also like the battle system, how you stay on the ssame map and the battle animations were awesome. The Double and Triple techs ad a lot of spark to the game. I actually first played it when I was really little and borrowed it from a friend. When I got older I hunted it down so I could experience it again. That says a lot about the replay value. The multiple endings and new game plus made it fun, too.
Everything considered, I give this game Ten out of ten.
| this is a kickass game | | crono nicko i cant make one up from bc canada says (30/May/2003): | i think this is the best game i have ever played because of the storyline. i think if you had to sum it up in one word it would be whoally$#< remove me > at !whatagoodoldgamethatis! but ya after beating it like some odd billion times im getting bored of it and need cheats
| All-time Best Game EVER!! | | Crono from Massachusettes, USA says (11/May/2003): | Chrono Trigger is the most detailed and well thought of RPG that I have ever played. The storyline is long and thought through (for the time it was made) and really propelled your mind into the game with all the different twists and occurences. The characters were very well thought of and the ability to time travel was great. So far even the great RPG's like Final Fantasy VII and Suikoden have not been able to top this great game. I think that Squaresoft should make a reall sequel (NOT Chrono Cross) because they could do it (possibly Lavos is revived, world is facing destruction, or Queen of Zeal is revived. Just some ideas) and that would be a great game too because squaresoft can make the best games ever, so it wouldnt be that much work for squaresoft because they have plenty of ideas and just keep spurting them out.
| Definitely the best RPG...how about the best game? | | John from New York, USA says (28/Apr/2003): | Chrono Trigger is definitely the BEST RPG game ever. But could it break through and be considered as the best game period? It has all the components that make a great game: an awesome movie-like story, romance, awesome graphics (for a 16bit module), extra adventures on the side, in-depth and interesting characters, pivotal plot-twists, multiple (16 to be exact) endings, and the most IMPORTANT part of a great game: longevity. Not one RPG matched what Chrono Trigger did, which is why it was such a revolutionary game. I must have played this game at least ten times. This game has to rank on my top-five all time, and will most likely stay in that slot. Chrono Trigger is MUST PLAY. The only thing that holds this back as the best game period, is field of interest. RPG's are not for everyone, but if they were to get started, Chrono Trigger should be a first. 10/10
| damn good game | | Stephen from USA GA< ROME says (11/Mar/2003): | i love this game since i was 5 now im 17 and i have beat this game over a 100,000 times but i always had to go back stonthen up but thats good very good i will say ot the persons that r reading this you better beat it just like me and if you dont your not a good gamer.
| THE BEST RPG EVER | | Robert Briggs from Mustang, Oklahoma USA says (1/Mar/2003): | Man when i first played chrono trigger i was in love. i mean whats not to like about a game that has things like dual techs triple techs and time travel. plus the story line is the best I've ever seen. Not only that you also get things like the music box, movies, treasure maps for all time periods, and it has multiple endings, trust me I've got em all because this is the only game I practically ever play. I know everything about this game trust me i've played it for 900 hours one time getting my characters up to level 99. Also I think Frog is the best character in the game because he has techs like heal and slurp and can also get dual techs like slurp kiss and frog flare. But if you're lookin for a person with a load of power take Ayla with you. When you're up against the lavos head she's a good ally to have with you. Anyway I say Chrono Trigger is a lot better than most of the Final Fantasy games because the FF games you have to follow the story line and in Chrono Trigger you can go all over time. So thats what I think about it but in ordr to have played a real RPG you have to play this.
| WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | jacob from Gainsville, Florida says (18/Feb/2003): | I have played alot of rpgs but chrono trigger has to be the best. I gusse u can say there is just more stuff to do then in any other rpg that I have played (almost every FF) i mean u still have to follow the story line but u can go back and forth through time and u dont have to do what the story says and still go to another event. well this sums up my review all i can say is u havent played a rpg untill u play chrono trigger
| OMG THIS GAME HAS COMPLETLY CHANGED MY VIEW OF RPGS | | LuccaFan#1 from California,USA says (7/Feb/2003): | Hey well my summary says it best.i have played all Final Fantasy games and i was looking for something new then one day my friend called me over and that was my first look at chrono cross(the sequel to chrono trigger)well i saw it and had to have it it was FF with more feeling and better storylines.well after i beat chrono cross i was still hungry for more well i then saw Final Fantasy Chronicles in my favorite game store after buying it and playing just until the first trip to the end of time i was in love i mean this game has it all.a storyline that you can't ask more of,Loveable characters(Luccas The BEST ^,^),battle setup unlike that of any game EVER i mean you see the enemy and when you fight them you don't got into a battle sequence you just pull out your sword and start fighting, you get triple team moves(even in Chrono cross the most you get is double team between a few characters)in chrono trigger almost everybody has at least one double team with everyone.after i finish this game i will write another review and that will have about 200 more words then this. i am telling you i tried to play Final Fantasy 7 and i just couldn't help but be mad when ever i got into a random battle or when i got to the arcade game like inner games man i couldn't stand the fact that the characters were just there they really didn't interact as much as in chrono trigger i mean if i mean there isn't that much stratagy in your caharcter selection i mean a healer a fighter and a magic user is really all you need in FF7 But in chrono trigger which characters you choose effects what techs you can use and that to me is the thing that completly seperates chrono trigger from final fantasy.Well that is my review for now i will right back when i actually finish the game.Just think if i love this game this much already wat will it be like when i know the whole story and i actually weep over seeing the characters leave
| Chrono Trigger's Magic Is Still Alive | | A gamer says (7/Aug/2002): | I don't know if it's because this is the second rpg/game that I have played, or because I played this game at a young age, but I feel not many of today's rpgs, or even games can even come close to the spark of wonder that this game can bring. To this day, I still tie this game with Final Fantasy 3/6. Obviously then, CT's magic cannot come from graphics, although, Chrono Trigger, for its day, had beautiful graphics that, by some people, could still be considered beautiful today. Along with the colorful scenes the game brings, the "new-and-improved version" of Chrono Trigger brings great anime scenes done by Dragonball Z's artist, Akira Toriyama, which adds even MORE depth to this already exhilarating game. The new version of CT, for the Playstation, also comes along with another great Square classic, Final Fantasy 2/4, in a package called Final Fantasy Chronicles. Now, having talked about CT's art, let's not forget music! The music comes from the amazing mind of Yasunori Mitsuda (I'm pretty sure!?). Some of the best music I have heard (And I'm not just talking about game music) has come from the Chrono Series; so very beautiful, that you might even want to just have the music itself! The replay on the Chronicles; just get New Game+ and enjoy the whole story all over again. The game just happens to have multiple endings (Showing just how in-depth and detailed some rpgs' worlds are), depending on the actions you take. The gameplay is also amazing; this game isn't too easy, but not astoundingly difficult either. The game's length is good. This game isn't all that long, though, and I'm only wishing it could have lasted MUCH longer. But, don't be bummed out about this only flaw; it might have just been a short game for me because I didn't level up enough, or it just went by too fast (Time flies when you're having fun!). So, obviously this game is lots of fun but, like any other good rpg/game, it takes hard work to receive just EVERYTHING that an amazing game like this has to offer. When it comes to originality, this game has got it, hands down. There is not another game, that I have seen, that has a storyline quite like this one. You know how you always want a game with memorable characters, characters that you wish WERE real? Well, this is one of those games: Crono, who voices his thoughts through his kind actions; Lucca, with a past who's you can forever change; Marla, although a future queen, she would give it all up for her closest friends; Frog, if you look past the outside, inside, he is a true human; Robo, a strong will and a mighty heart, shows love for all his new friends; and Ayla, strong, muscley, but truly soft inside when it comes to protecting her allies. Don't pass this game up; it would be like passing up 6 lifetime-friends (OK, not lifetime, but at least for many, many hours...hehe). So, finally, here is a little bit of what the story is about. You start off as a boy who lives with his mother, with his one friend, Lucca. This boy is Crono. Lucca's invention, turns out to be some sort of time-warp, sending them to era like, 65,000,000 AD, 600 AD, and 2300 AD. In these eras, they encounter many adventures, dangers, ... and friends. It may sound corny, but the further you get into the game, the deeper the story gets. As you can see I've grown a passion for this game (What can I say? I'm an RPG freak). Talk FF or CT with me anytime. You can also come to like this game , even if you aren't that big on rpgs. I only hope this review was efficient enough for you gamers. And sorry I couldn't find any big flaws to this game, but, a
