'The' game | | IBMBD from Paris, England says (2/Sep/2002): | I know there is a lot of fuss about the game. - I think the gameplay sucks, and people keep saying its the best fighting game because the never played another (good) fighting game. I give the gameplay 2 out of 10 - The sounds and voices howerever are far much better, its accurate, suits to the different characters and stuff. 7 out of 10 it is - The graphics suck pritty bad too, i mean it almost looks that every character is made out circles and squares. It could have been way more realistic. The sky and ground always looks like crap, not even detailled, just one color (sometimes from bright to dark but still one color)And the background is 2D, you see the same hill over and over if you pass to the next screen 3/10
Its true that there are too much goku 's (and Trunkses). For example, why didnt the normal goku got replaced with SS Goku (after you got it) Or better, if you used goku in build up and your niveau is high enough you would turn to SS or SS2 or further. I dont know why they made it so hard to get some bonus fighter, like playing arcade on hard 20 in a row without continues, who can keep it up after beating the game just once? And i dont have to see crappy fighter like Krillin or Tien, they are crap, and only had (big) roles way early in the dragonball (NOT dragonball Z but normal dragonball) series I seriously think that the game wasnt finished yet, or there werent enough experienced programmers. The build up was the only thing i cared for once (damn it was addictive), but i stopped now, i couldnt make my Freeza get higher then level 101. I regretted my time i put in the game later.

My friend had it, and I was hooked, but didn't have a playstation that could play it. Now that I do, I spent the money and got the game. I can't read it, because it is in Japanese, but I get the jist of most of it. I love playing the one player game, and playing against friends characters can be a huge challenge. The graphics are supurb for a game that was released in '97, and the moves are simple. The downside is that with the kame-hame-ha and the energy moves like it are diffucult to power up. My arm starts to hurt after constantly pounding the buttons. But, in the end, it is all worth it. When your character finally beats the snot out of SS4 Goku, suddenly your arm won't hurt so much, and you will forget about the blisters on your fingers. All in all, this game is excellent. I can't wait for the game on the PS2... I am practically drooling already! Keep up the good work Ban Dai! We love you Guys!
| Killer game | | ssjCelticGogeta from hamilton,ontario,canada says (2/Nov/2002): | ok first off i love the game i just got it today. sure i beat it also today but i heard u can get gogeta (thats just awsome)see people say this game sucks but u gotta think this is 2002 the game came out in 1997 so for then the graphics kick ass. i give the graphics a 8 game play 9 music and sound fx 10!!. the game just totaly kicks ass over all but the only thing is *rubs back of head* i think theres to many gokus and not enough gohans lol 6 gokus and 1 gohan lol big diff but overall this game rulez best fighter game EVER!! well thats all i gotta say.

| What's wrong with this game? | | John from Iowa says (30/Dec/2002): | There is nothing wrong with Dragonball Final Bout. The gameplay in this game is only slow in 2 player mode. Everyone says that they move slow, they move slow if you only try to walk with them, but using dash they move very fast. I think that the American version of the game is slower than the Japanese one. The American version takes forever to pull off a punch. The Japanese version however is alot faster in pulling off combos, ki blasts, punches and kicks. The only thing i don't like about this game is that you can't go SSJ during battle, you have to select a different character. If you are a DBZ/DBGT fan i would reccomend this game, but if you can't decide between the DBZ game i would tell you to get Budokai.
**I have the Japanese version of the game and i don't know how to get into build-up mode, can someone help me? If you can, e-mail me.

Then, something caught my eye..it couldn't be..is that the game I'd saw on E-bay for at least £150??! The graphics are impressing, the gaming structure is brilliant, the title movie is excellent and the music rox mah sox! :O)OK, the voices are in Japaneese and after about 2 hours, you've mastered the hardest level, but it's a highly addictive game that all fans must play!

I am glad to see that most reviews have a score over 5! I do'nt understand how to get Bebi in the Japenese version of the game though! I have super saiyan4 Son Gokou. dbz/gt game for playstation. i have played budoki and i think that game is the bomb! the graphics and everything are awesome.
another thing i would suggest for this game is to make it so you can unlock special items[fusion earings] and make it so you can reach different super sayian levels in build up. thats all for now.see ya.

The graphics are the best out of all the Dragonball Z Games. The super moves are really good especially Vegeta's. The game has a variety of characters such as Trunks, Frieza, Cell, SS4 Goku, and such. But the action is not as good and as high speed as I thought it would be. The game has a good story line but not quite in the right chronological order as I expected and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The best thing about this game is the graphics, some action, and the characters because of Super Goku 4. But if you want the fast action you expect from a DBZ game get DBZ Legends or DBZ Ultimate Bout 22!

| Pretty Good Few Flaws | | Prince Bejita from Planet Vegeta, Space says (26/May/2002): | well ok DBFB is great game i dont see why now i mean they do animations,ur can link meteos,and another is...ITS IN 3-D.But the bad thing is i think the 3-D'ness makes this game slower but the better thing is there a build up mode which is great to me cause in DBZ ULTIMATE BATTLE 22 i have some chars at 125 lvl making me start with lvls like 41,42,43.but they build up should be u save in place then u click save and instead of selecting were u want to save i saved over a lvl 104 Little Gokou on accident.now i have to start all the way over.the regular Gokou's spirit bomb should be animated yeah its the regular spirit bomb i can see a kamehameha knocking it out but if u do a lil regular ki blast the spirit bomb is destroyed.And that just sucks i mean u can do a power battle with the computer usin vegeta's big bang attack but u cant let the spirit bomb do a power struggle thats just strang and all they had to do was make a copy of cell doing the self destruct and take cell and give vegeta and buu the animation for the self destruct.and goku should have Kaio-Ken.but overall this game has great game play.o yeah and vegetto fire move should be animated too

| Good game, but it could have been a little better | | Vegeta's final flash from Bruges, Belgium says (8/Nov/2002): | When you first play this game, you will (like alot of people do) find it horrible, well, I'll tell you why : First, the controls are SLOW, the characters look corny,especially Goku(s). I mean to say that when you look at his pants you can see a funny line that's not very attractive, further more ALL the characters have hands like Boo (2 fingers)and that looks pretty stupid. That said, now the good parts of the game. You have some characters from DB-GT, that's good, and when two fighters have to fight , right before they begin, they talk to eachother, that's very nice to listen to since it's in Japanese. The sound is nice, you can recognise some of the songs from UB22. I, this game, you have again the capability of building up a fighter, but this time it's more fun than in UB22, because here, you battle points, and every time you won or lost a fight , you gain BP's and the energy bars are REALLY long here, you have up to 7 energy bars! The attacks are cool, the good old kamehame-ha rays, that's the stuff;and they all say it in their own special way.The battle area's look very good, and you even have the capability to fly to or away from the screen to dodge an attack. What I find really great in this game is, the power of you punches and kicks depend on the fighter you choose, for example : You choose Vegetto or Goku SS4, and you punch or kick, you apponent will loose alot more energy than if you receive a punch from any other of the fighters in the game. The only thing that's annoying except the slow controlling, is the fact that some of the characters look very corny (all the Saiyans look corny) , all the rest of the characters in the game look very good ( Piccolo, Frieza, Boo, Cell,....). Now, final conclusion. The game needs to be played a while, and you have to have a little bit of patience, and if you don't look at the corny Saiyans, and slow controls, the game will play very nicely, I mean that, so DBZ fans should get this one for sure.

| A review on DBFB. | | Naomi from Playmouth,England says (30/Jun/2003): | Dragonball/final bout is an amzing game....the grathics need work and so does saving secrete pll but u can play a 8 player tourment with only useing 2 contolers...u can train ur fave pll and make them more powerful then u could ever dream of. And u can Do VS 2 player or Vs com (this is where u can win spcial pll) and lets face it, it is just the BEST GAME EVER! (well...its up there with finalfantasy games)

The graphics are terrible. The gameplay is unbelievabley slow. The difficulty of the game is extremely easy. Sometimes, when you would press the punch button it would take 2-3 seconds before the character reacted. The only thing good about this video game is the characters are Dragonball characters. If you are a dragonball collector I would maybe buy this game, but don't expect much of anything out of this pathetic excuse of a 1on1 fighting game.

Build up mode is the best feature, get a couple of friends to build up characters and go at it. The story mode is easily beaten on normal. Put it on hard and try beating Super Saiyian Goku Level four along with Super Bebi and all the others in 20 minutes. So what the hidden characters are the other forms of Goku, Trunks, and Goten. I feel that this has some of the best bitmapping for a 32 BIT system. It was released 1997, 5 years ago. 5 years ago the N64 was going to be the best thing on the market and there was no 128 bit graphics. if your a DragonBall fan of any kind, BUY THIS! I have 2 out of the set and all i need is UB-22 and I'll be done. I'm buying the japan versions because i don't want to waste my time with American Crap that is horriblly dubbed.

Anyone who thinks this is a fast-paced game, you must be slow yourself (no offence). Turtles, baby turtles at that could move faster than the characters of this game. This game excels at some aspects, such as energy blasts and sound. The drawings are not quite the best, and the character voices are not even close to the ones here in Canada. The code to get all the characters is simple and repetitive: up, down, left, right, up, down, left, right. To get SS4 Goku it's: Square 5 times, then Triangle 9 times. How hard was that? Sorry if I gave it away. The starting video and music, however, is fabulous! It shows almost of all the characters fighting one another. Congratiations, Ban Dai, on this truly one-of-a-kind crappy game! I would recommend Legends over this. I havent played Ultimate Battle 22, so I can't compare that. If you truly love DBZ, as I do, get this, but otherwise save your money and get one of the other DBZ games. All in all, I would give this game a whopping 3 of 10. Thank you for your time.
