best game ever? |
| peter from milton keynes, england says (26/Jan/2008): |
First game I ever got on my ps1, Best story line ever and you can play for hours its also always fun tho get new abiltiies and learn the new routines. best charecter by far is Lavitz/Albert. I actually think this game is the best I have ever played.Right The game I think though is proberbly best for slightly older kisds because at first I couldnt complete the first disk,But its a good long game so if you do get it even if you zoom through it it takes a while and is really interesting to play.A small tip to anyone getting this is train up everyone dont just stick with your 3 favorites, you will find out why later on in the game make life easier on yourself.Another tip is always go back to places and exsplore thats the best way to make the most out of the game by doing this you can unlock things earlier than usual and get tips and hints on what to do next. This game is similar to final fantasy in a sense so if you liked that I would get this game its long it can be puzzling and its got a good story plot, I havent played it on the ps2 version I dont no if its much dfferent proberbly better graphics Not sure about change in story line, but still best game ever.

One of the best games ever in my opinion. |
| winner-of-losers from Westbrook, Maine; USA says (19/Feb/2008): |
All I can say is wow. I'm a PS3 owner. Still, I really want to own this game. The graphics are amazing for a PSX game. The FMVs for the game could not have been better on the PSX. The storyline in my opinion is very original. One of my favorite parts has to be the timed button presses for the battle system. It never gets old to try and hit the x button in an exact sequence for you to be able to damage the monster/boss etc. There is also a very diverse number of characters that can be in your party. The only bad thing about the party is Dart can't be switched out. But hey, that's life. There are also a ton of areas to explore. I also really like how many items there are. I know I'm jumping from topic to topic but I keep thinking of new things that I remember from the first time I played it. The game has it's funny moments.
Like when Rose slaps Lavitz in the arena. I think that's funny anyway. Speaking of the arena, it's one of my favorite parts in the game. Not only are there a sequence of fun battles, but there are also a variety of mini-games that keep people like me in the arena section for a long time. All in all, this is one of my favorite games ever. And it will be for as long as I'm a gamer.

But then there's that damned dialogue. |
| Kimberly Wardrop from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada says (24/Feb/2008): |
I enjoyed Legend of Dragoon for its battle system. It was evolutionary, in the fact that the player had the chance to be far more interactive in the battles than in other traditional RPGs. But sometimes, I'd have to pause in the middle of character speech, and say: "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
Almost every aspect of this game was perfect. But the dialogue was God awful! I felt that the director let his twelve year old son write the script from time to time. In the FMV's, it sounded as if they hired professional wrestlers to read off the dialogue. Overall, no character development, or any kind of development for that matter, occurred in the speech bubbles. It was horrifying.
Perhaps I'm just too much of a dialogue whore. But if you wanna impress me in a roleplaying game, you gotta pull off a Final Fantasy XII dialect. If a child in grade four can develop a better plot through script, you need to tweak a few of your staff memebers in such a project.
But that's me being negative. It was a great play, and I still enjoy it eight years later.

one of sony's best RPG's ever |
| saxxon from seattle says (6/Nov/2003): |
this game is great game other than its over rated rival final fantasy. if you love fantasy, dragons, and medievil stuff, or just love cool looking games, THIS IS A MUST BY:] The new addition attack system is incredible. not all of the additions are easy so you might need to buy a ultimate wargod.the graphics on this game are for the most part good, and the FMV's are beautiful.a must buy now !!!!!! oh and the dragoon transformation and attacks are awsome;)(:

This game was okay, I'm not saying its great or bad. |
| Delila from America, Ohio says (3/Jan/2004): |
Legend of the Dragoon was an "okay" game. The fighting was that great. I think they could have done better. Personally, the game is very similar to Final Fantasy games, which is not bad. I don't think its a rip off.
I would much prefer if the game was made into the Game boy advance than playstation. It was sort of a challenge, it was easier than any other Final Fantasy or playstation games. This wasn't the worst playstation game I've played.
As for the graphics, they weren't that good, but they were understandable. I mean, in most games, you can't even make out their faces. But, I promised myself I wouldn't compare and look at me.
The music, this I didn't like. The music for the boss battles and or regular battles, I felt, didn't fit. It sounded as if it were nothing. I think they could have done better with that.
The story was alright. It wasn't complexing or hard to understand. It was a good idea.
I felt that their was little action or it wasn't as satisfying.
The gameplay was good also, one thing I did not like was when you had to go through a place you've already been to get to a new place.
Over all, this game was good. I'd probably would attract more attention to a younger audienance instead of older people.

The Legend of Dragoon |
| Game Boy from Long Beach, California says (15/Apr/2002): |
I've been playing LOD for only under a week now, and see more similarities to Legend of Legaia than to FF. Those of you who've played Legaia: if you stop and think about it, you'll see this is true.

Good game |
| Cloud Strife from California,Riverside says (6/Mar/2003): |
I did like LOD,but how can people say that its better than Final Fantasy games especially ones like FF7,8,10 and Chrono Trigger. Some reasons I didnt like this game alot was because you cant use summons like the other RPG's,the only way you can use magic is by using items that you can only carry like 25 with you.The characters were prettylame compared to the FF7 characters. The weapons were kind of sucky and you can turn into weak transformations. The addition combos were kind of good but I hate it that you people compare it to Final Fantasy limit breaks, especially ones like Cloud's Omnislash.I only beat the game once, and dont care of doing it over it again because it was to easy compared to Final Fantasy games, like Emerald Weapon and Ruby weapon in FF7.This is my list of my favorite games in order . 1.Final Fantas7,(2.Final Fantasy 8),(3.Crrono Trigger)

The Legend Of Dragoon |
| Adam from El Cajon, USA says (8/Jul/2003): |
Im only 10 years old but i cant believe that Legend Of The Dragoon is so good. Im stuck right now though I cant somehow kill the Divine Dragon. It sucks cause the staff i took broke and my dragoon spells hardly work. (Even Final Burst!!!) I give this game a 10 for a good job on: Graphics, Combat, Magic, Transformations, and best of all... Making the whole public play the game!

You can cheat |
| Weyrling from Nowhere, CA says (23/Aug/2003): |
I like Legend of Dragoon alot but it isn't original really the additions are great. You can cheat but I won't tell you how Its kinda hard to figure out, It's a great game overall but there arent many sidequests like the Final Fantasys, Like the Ruby and Emerald weapons, Chocobo racing that kinda thing, for u you that cant do the additions, Their really ez, I mastered them first time I tried them I beat the game very easily, about 10 hours, it has great graphics but characters kinda repetitive.

Read this! |
| A gamer from USA says (3/Jan/2001): |
Ok Legend of dragoon is a great game, it's graphics are awesome and it's computer generated cinemas are more detailed! Plus, there's voice in the cinemas so u have a feel for the game unlike ff9 or whatever! (read this only if you are a fan of ff series: it sucks i'm sorry the game the characters! Stop blaming legend of dragoon for it getting higher sales because they are better than ff8 or whatever of the stupid series!). I give it a 10 because if u were a ff fan than u would give it a 10 because the characters are weird, and the CG movies suck! If u want a different kind of RPG play legend of dragoon!

this was a really fun game |
| daniel from texas city,tx,usa says (4/Jul/2002): |
this game had no graphics the animation sucked ass and the scripting was just gay. but the game was funest rpg ive played the aditions make the fighting fun, like most rpg's you hit a button the guy hits a monster and that's it. but this game you have an oprotunity to hit a couple of times and its take's slight reaction skills to do it.

awsome unseen features |
| stormreaver from new orleans, USA says (14/Jul/2002): |
The best new thing I haven't seen before is gaining 10% life when gaurding. This makes gaurding a very effective life filler against week enemies. Another good thing for the quick hand eye cordanation is the critical hits aren't random. Also this goes for dragoons. I almost never miss criticals and always get perfects in Dragoon form. This is an awsome game rated 9 instead of 10 because the music does get annoying sometimes.

Review of Reviews |
| Rumza Homz from Houston, TX says (3/Jan/2003): |
First, I would like to say that I thought that LOD was a very good game. The storyline was interesting, very few boring moments, and a good selection of characters. Next, there were indeed a few similarities to the Final Fantasy series, but look at the rest of the RPG games out there- most of them resemble one of the preceeding games from one series or another (so stop your bitching people, and get over it). Lastly, I just would like to ask a few of you to re-read your messages before you post them. Even though it is amusing to read reviews typed up by an individual with a second-grade spelling ability, it gets old really quick. [not sure who asked this in their review, but FF8 came out before LOD]

Best Legend Of Dragoon |
| Tina from Manila,Philippines says (19/Jun/2003): |
Wow! this game rocks! I love it! I think I've played it more that 11 times! It's my favourite! And when I'm at school, I'm always missing it. My fave discs are all discs. But now I can't finish it because disc 3 doesn't work. But last year, it always work, but now, it doesn't work anymore. But I really love this game 100% sure. I really miss it because I'm not playing it anymore. This is my 12th time for playing it and I'm already in disc 2 but I can't finish it because disc 3 doesn't work. I love this game very much. I hope that there is "The Legend Of Dragoon II" coming!

this game is way better thatn any ff than i have ever played |
| aaron from ottumwa, iowa says (5/Aug/2003): |
There are alot of reason why i pick this game over ff. one would be because of the graphics the are better than any other ff on playstation. number two would be cause its not as fast pace and u can work out a plan to keep your self alive longer. this game resemble ff because they were both made by sony computer entertainment but i would still chose this game over any other role playing game out there.and another thing is u cant really cheat in this game unless u have a gameshark i kinda like that it makes the game better without them. also the value of this game is really low so if u want a new rpg game to try you should try this one its really cheap.

Subject titles are for the weak... ;) |
| Malk from Wisconsin, USA says (6/Aug/2003): |
The Great: First Impression: Awesome awesome awesome Story: Loved it Graphics: Best you can get Ending Satisfactory: Very much satisified
The Good:
Characters: A few could have used more development, but overall I loved em all. I don't see how people can compare Cloud (sullen, moody) to Dart (generous, a bit dopey), Cid (trash-talking, tough) to Lavitz/Albert (loyal, protective of others), Tifa (strong, a bit spunky) to Shana (shy, caring), and Barret (mouthy) to Kongol (loyal)...what about Haschel and Miranda? I can maybe see a little bit between Lloyd and Sephy, but not enough to make them any different from other RPG baddies...it's been awhile since I've played FFVII though, so forgive me >_<
Sound FX: I didn't think that the voice acting got old, but I wish for the sake of others that there was an option to turn it off
Controls: Additions were a unique touch and made the game more interactive, and I loved the Dragoon transformations and abilities. They're not really like Limit Breaks at all. Limit Breaks build up as your character takes damage, while Dragoon transformations build as you give damage. You only get one Limit Break at a time but you get up to five Dragoon Attacks.
Challenge and Difficulty: Good for RPGers of all types, whether beginners, novice, or advanced, or even if you're not a big fan of RPGs at all, it's worth playing.
Limited Storage: Some people complained about only carrying 32 items, but I thought that this actually made sense and made you think about what items you REALLY needed. Sure there were times I wished I could carry more items, but limiting them helped me get rid of useless items or upgrading items. Besides, how much sense does it make for 7 people to carry around 100+ items? Although I did think it was odd that you could carry up to 225 weapons/armor/accessories...
The Bad:
Music: But that's just my opinion....Translation: Doh! >_< Find a translator who speaks the language that the game will be written in!
Game Play Variety: I like my minigames...um...there were...only about...four...in this game...and none were fun. :(
This fangirl gives LoD an 8 out of 10 (actually I'd give it an 8.5, but there is no .5). I highly recommend it to any gamer.
