The game was the best I ever played | | Dragoon Master from Canada tronto says (24/Nov/2004): | I thought the game was awesome it was better then awesome from the start of disk 1 when you were going through the forest and the green tucked dragon attacked you till the end of disk 4 when you battled the final boss. The game was fun to play it was a long game but worth my time and effort the bosses were fun to battle and I thought the graphics were really good for a ps1 game the attacks by the enemies were really cool what I liked most were the dragoon transformations and the attacks I also liked story line I thought it was geniuses there were twist and turns and you never new what was coming next you also learned the characters in the game my favorite character was rose I loved all of her attacks she was the coolest character in the game the dragons in the game looked really and so did there attacks I hope they come out with a legend of dragoon 2 or at least a game like it the final boss was the longest but funniest battle I wish it was a 10 disk game because 4 wasn’t enough. The game was awesome

Also your characters are able to turn into dragoon's and cast some really kick < remove me > at $$ magic. The only real draw back is that the game really leads you to every thing not allowing for you to make your own way.

the story i especially love, i mean, Moon Child, Moon Objects, Black Monster, Moon That Never Sets, Dragoons, Dragons, Dragon Campaign, all fits the game style perfectly! The music is beatiful!whoever it was that couldn't stand it is SOOOO STUPID! the theme song was nice and the woman had a nice voice.

The additions were cool(especially gust of wind dance!) I really liked how the story all comes together so well. i wish people would stop sayin itz just like ff7. even if it waz, even though ff7 came up with it, dragoon would have made it much much much MUCH better. ff is oh k but ledgend of the dragoon is better and always will be. it is one of my fav. games along with 2 others. dragoon waz so awesome! game graphics were awesome and clear. i loved the music espellialy this opening song. i liked the sounds too. they were great and better than usual games. the fun part about the game is that dart is so in luv with shanna and won't admit it. some times i would scream JUST TELL HER!!!! no matter what people think i will alwayz think it is original. I think it will be worth something later on when it getz old!rose we forgive you!!!! Thatz one good line. Battles: Loved them, the Additions I found were a nice and innavative touch. They alone made the game popular to me.

I loved the game. The story line was awesome, new. The graphics, well, I'm not sure what to compare them to, but they were ok. The world map, was a world map. My favorite part was the additions. You had to time every attack just so to get either a huge amount of damage, or a small amount or damage, depending on what you were aiming for. The additions are pretty much what made my rating a 9, I loved it. The music... You know, copies off the FF series, oh well, still good. FF is good. The game made ya think. That's hard to do and keep people happy, so there's a big one. An irony, but for a short time I thought The Legend of Dragoon WAS one of FF series, except better. I kept getting it and FF9 mixed up. So... altogether, it coulda been better, but it's still awesome. THE LEGEND OF DRAGOON RULZ!

When i play it, me and the game come of one; i notice nothing of the outside world; the controller is just an extention of my body. This is not a game, this is a fantastic story that you watch, filled with twists and turns that will keep you at the edge of your seat. When i first rented this game, i played it non-stop; one day i played it for 12 hours. you want to put it down to save your eyes, but you just want to know what happens next. that is the greatness of it all. I eventually bought it some weeks later, and i eventually beat it! 50 hours is what it took me, seriously. It has a GREAT ending, one of the bests. everything ties together with one great end, ironic to an extent. Lloyd is a great villian; better than sethropoh(FFVII) in personality wise, but still, i got to hand it to sethropoh for being the best. Still, this game, in my opnion, is even greater that FFVII. I am playing it for a second time, and it is still as great as it was when i first played it. This game is a most have; with this game, you won't need anyother games for a long time.

-Dart, the lead hero is awesome. I liked his Dragoon magic attack, "Final Burst". He needs to stop thinking of Shana as a baby sister and realise her feelings for him.
-Lavitz Slambert was a great character. He was Dart's Best friend, he was the Leader of the First Knighthood, Killed by Lloyd The sword master. Lavitz is a strong knight, but fate got to him before he could fulfill his mother's wish to hold a grandchild in her arms.
-Kongol is super-strong! I noticed a strong enemy when i was wiped out the first time fight! He needs to extend his vocabulary, though.
-Doel is really hard, and i can't beat him.
This game is the best!

The sound of battle was the best I think. It sounded really cool and the sound from thier attacks was even better. I liked the way it was put into sections on 4 cd's because it makes the game a whole lot longer. This game is the best. I've played it over 10 times it was so good.
Legend of Dragon was so much better than ff7 even though it was released later. the people who made did a great job. I would this game 24-7 if i could. I don't know why some people think this game isn't good. This game beats all rpg's I have played.

| Legend of Dragoon II- When will it hatch | | Derek from Wichita--KS--USA says (30/Oct/2003): | Alright, let me say something about both games, granted both LOD and FF7 have a lot of similarities, but they also have a TON of differences! First off, LOD has something to do with Dragons, FF7 has to do with mako, and the Earth. Besides, FF7 had a lot less content and graphics then LOD. By far LOD leaves FF7 behind with its interactive battles, mind trials, and much more. I mean come on, when FF7 came out my brother was 11 and I was 16...I beat the game in one week and my brother, soon after, beat the game between two or three weeks, however, LOD took me between 3 or 4 months. Now keep in mind people, I am 21 and have been playing and beating video games since I was able to carry a hand full of quarters and push a bar stool at the age of two. So in all reality, video games come easy to me. My brother is still playing and he started before I did! LOD has better content, longer storyline, and is far more interesting. FF7 was the only one out of the two that didn't keep me asking, "when is the next one?" LOD, however, makes me think about it...all you see in the end is two dragon/dragoon eggs. Lets think about this, what happens to eggs eventually? THEY HATCH, so in the end Rose and Zieg shall re-emerge at sometime or another and the Dragoons that were left will be re-summoned into the gaming world, I know I want to hear about another one. But then again that is something that we are all entitled to, OPINIONS. So here is mine, to all of you who didn't care much of, or give good reviews- You LACK! Your skills suck and you are probably lonly. FF7 leaves to much to the imagination such as how Aries talks about someone she knew named "Zach" in the end I liked them both, FF7 gets a 5 and LOD gets a 10 seeing as how there aren't any 12s.

Gameplay: 10/10
This game plays like many other rpg's. The controls are fairly simple, you use the directional buttons to move(obviously), triangle brings up your menu, etc. This game features random battles, and a turned base battle system, like most rpgs. You can hold up to 32 items, this seems kinda small compared to final fantasy's 99 per item limit. But its nothing to worry about. You travel to different locations using the worldmap which you can access anytime during the game. OK lets get into the battle system, This game brings a very revolutionary battle system to the rpg world. This part is a little bit hard to explain so ill try my best You attack using special moves called additionals, these attacks require timed button presses in order to get the full power of the attack, when you start out your attacks at first you start out with a 2 hit combo, but as you progress through the game you gain more additional moves each with a different name and look, each one you get adds 1 hit, the max hits you can get is 8. Now your probably wondering how do I execute these moves and get the full combo in. You can add more hits to your attack by pressing the x button at certain times during your combo, this probably sounds confusing but it really isn’t all that hard to do the moves, some people don’t like the battle system because they say that the additionals are to hard to execute but I think it brings a lot more fun into the battles, because you have to be alert all of the time or your attack will either be counter attacked or you wont get the full combo in resulting in less damage. you can also use magic items during battles, when you choose to use these, it will prompt you to tap the x button repeatedly the more hits you can get on the x button before the time runs out the more powerful your magic attack becomes. but I found the magic items pretty useless because the timer runs out to quickly and my magic attacks only did mediocre damage. During the battle you may also transform into a dragoon warrior each characters dragoon transformation is unique, when you transform you get a very beautiful 10-20 second sequence of your character transforming into his/her dragoon state. in this state you are more powerful and you can also execute special additional attacks and magic attacks, the additional attacks in this form are slightly different then the ones in your regular form, these look a lot different and are more powerful, and also require timed button presses, when you use your dragoon additional attacks a circle pops up with a little triangle at the 12 o clock point on the circle and a little glowing circle goes around the bigger circle ad you must press the x button exactly when it hits the triangle, other wise your attack stop and wont reach its full potential, each character has 5 unique magic attacks in dragoon form when you execute these attacks you get a breathtaking sequence of the attack,( these usually take 30 seconds this may seem like a lot of time but it is well worth it to see these kind of special effects on a psone game), and you can also summon dragons once you become powerful enough. Once your SP(spirit meter) meter is full you are allowed to transform into a dragoon, how long you stay transformed depends on your dragoon level which can be increased the more your fight in your dragoon form. The max time you can stay transformed is for 5 turns, then you revert back to your original form. As you can see the gameplay is very detailed and plays a large part in this game.

OK this is the beef of many rpg’s, the story. The legend of dragoons story is very in-depth and interesting I would have bought this game just to experience the great story that comes with it, I will elaborate on this amazing story some. The Legend was born 10,000 years ago… and began with the Divine Tree. Nothing could compare to its mystical powers. It is said that this massive, yet graceful entity gave birth to all living things. One after another, races of plants, animals and unique beings fell from its branches and life spilled forth over the land. The 105th race was the powerful Dragons. These towering winged destroyers would strike terror into anyone who beheld them. In time, there Dragon Spirit would be revered and worshipped. The 106th race was the Human race. These peaceful beings lived a quiet agrarian existence in harmony with the world. The 107th race was the formidable Winglies. These flying conquerors set out to build great floating cities and gain dominion over all living things. In time, their aggression enslaved the passive Human race with little resistance. The spirit of the Divine Tree coursed through all its offspring. The races took their place on earth, filling the desolation with lushness and activity. But the beauty of the tree could not hide the ugly blemish in the land of floating cities. The Winglies resigned supreme. The human were enslaved. Divided by Hatred, a battle for freedom would ensue. Both thought their very survival depending on victory over the other. According to legend, the Humans enlisted the help of dragons. Drawing on magical forces, the humans became Dragoon Warriors harnessing the savage power and soul of the Dragons. Dragoons were supernatural warriors who attacked with fierce combat skills and deadly magic. They overpowered the Winglies in a bloody confrontation. The humans prevailed. And they learned to co-exist in peaceful harmony. But beneath the tranquility, lurks a mysterious prophecy. Love. Revenge. Death and destruction. Ever 108 years A Black Monster emerges to bring death and destruction to the world in search of the moon child that holds the key to the truth. That is merely a prequel to the massive story in The Legend of Dragoon. Buy the game to find out the whole story
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics in The Legend of Dragoon are definitely some of the best I have ever seen on the Playstation The character models are very well done, as best as you can expect on the Playstation. The dragoon transformations are very well done, and so are the magic attacks. I found myself transforming and doing the magic attacks countless times just to be able to see them one more time. The towns and cities look very realistic and innovative, all in all I am very happy with this games graphics.
Sound: 8/10
Sound really isn’t that important to me in games, as long as it is tolerable it is ok with me. This game does feature some really good battle music although it isn’t varied to much, most of the battles have the same music tracks This may not be a good thing for all you sound buffs but I don’t think the sound deters from the overall coolness of the game. There is very little talking in this game, actually the only talking comes from the fmv’s and even then there isn’t much, so I really cant comment on the voice acting.
Length/Replay: 6/10
On average this game takes just over 40 hours to beat, this game has 4 discs, so as you can see its a massive game. This game doesn’t really have to much in the way of replay value, but there are a few hidden suprises if you can find them. Throughout the game you can collect these little rocks called stardusts that can be found in various places throughout the game you can collect as many as 50 of them, and if you collect them all and give them to a certain person you will be able to fight a special boss near the end of the game, that gives you a massive amount of money and exp., if you beat him. I think the story is in this game is good enough for a replay or 2. This is the only rpg that I played through 5 times
This is one of the best games I have ever played, I am really hoping for a sequel to this game. This game easily rivals Final Fantasy 7, it may even be better. This is a must have for every rpg fan, even if you have never played an rpg before this is a great place to start.

Its kinda long if you ask me. I have allready beat this game twice allready. The graphics arent the greatest but its good enough to ROCK! The movies in this game are very good for a ps1 game. This game contains secrets about every single character. Rose I was looking forward to fight( because she is the black monster and all). Shana is the moon child and I dont want to tell you any more secrets. This game should be in 1st place in the top 40, dont you all agree with me? The End of this game was rather weird... I dont know why Rose ditches with your dad I mean God dad you've taken how many of my girlfriends?!? Well I think they should have put a better ending to it. I recommend this game to anyone who hasent played it. It will make alot of other ps2 games look like trash. This game is 4 discs long it took me longest to beat 2nd disc. It is twice as long as 1st disc. But my favorite was the 4th disc because there is nothing but bosses. This has got to be one of the best games I ever played all of my systems. If you dont have this game I reccomend it to everyone.( There is some bad words but if you cant read problem solved ).
| Defines the RPG name | | Belzaac from Louisiana, USA says (20/Feb/2004): | This game totally rocks, in my mind this game holds its own with that of final fantasy 7 & 8, it has a great storyline, fighting style, and you get hooked very easily. One of the things that I still talk about, with ps2 and x-box already out, was the movie after the ghost ship, havent seen a better movie on ps, ps2,x-box, or gamecube, ever. This helps you understand why i love this game so much. It also makes the history better and makes the game more believe-able.the only other thing i can say is.... MAKE ANOTHER ONE!!!!! I'm tried of playing the ff series. Speaking of which, i believe LOD is totally orginal, not every main character with blonde hair is cloud, that got me kinda pissed off it has its own, original storyline(a better one in my opinion) P.S. if u dont like the music of LOD ware some head phones with Smashmouth on,its chemistry is great. Other than that it IS one of the greatest games of its time. The Legend of Dragoon totally blows the competition away.
