Well...I just got tis game recently(After a bunch of RPG's for PS2 came out) so I won't be comparing graphics. Well the story-line kept me on the game for 5 hours at a time, It was REALLY interesting. My favorite part of this game was the Addition battle style which kept you thinkin and tryin to master the Additions...which ticked me off cuz by the time I mastered the Addition I had my character got a new one. My favorite Addition is MADNESS HERO for Dart. The best part was the random battles cuz they did not occur as often as in FFVII. Speakin of FFVII this game by far tops it in terms of graphics, battle style, story, and gameplay. Cuz in FFVII you hit 'attack' and they did a lot of damage depending on they're weapon...not much challenge in that battle style. On the other hand you can't customize your magic in Legend of Dragoon like you can in FFVII. I really liked this game and I've beaten it 59 times!!! No lie. I ended with my characters like this: Dart at level 50, Albert at level 48, and Rose at level 49. It was EASY to beat the boss at those levels!!! So all in all I give this game a 10 out of 10 it's great...Easily the best RPG I've played.

The legend of the dragoon has some pretty good graphics, its impossible to go to the wrong area, and although most reviews say it's bad I SUGGEST TRYING IT! please rent it at least, okay. The main character is a warrior who lost his family to a monster known as The Black Monster wich appeared 11,000 years ago. Dart ,the main character, swears to get revenge on the black monster. In his new home Seles Dart met a girl named Shana, he left to get revenge and left his bestfreind shana in seles to wonder why. five years later a war had struck the country and when Dart retuns to seles it's been burned to the ground, and Shana has been captured. Sorry got a little off what I meant to be saying. the graphics off the legend off the dragoon are definately better than FF7, the story is most likely better as well, also it's a much tuffer game to get by on makeing its self more challenging than FF7, and 8. again the story line is the best in the east and the west. the idiea off additons I think is better than the normal 1-4 hits of FF7. anyways please buy, or rent it because i've only told the very least of how good it is. thank you for reading and I hope you haer me out!

First game I ever got on my ps1, Best story line ever and you can play for hours its also always fun tho get new abiltiies and learn the new routines. best charecter by far is Lavitz/Albert. I actually think this game is the best I have ever played.Right The game I think though is proberbly best for slightly older kisds because at first I couldnt complete the first disk,But its a good long game so if you do get it even if you zoom through it it takes a while and is really interesting to play.A small tip to anyone getting this is train up everyone dont just stick with your 3 favorites, you will find out why later on in the game make life easier on yourself.Another tip is always go back to places and exsplore thats the best way to make the most out of the game by doing this you can unlock things earlier than usual and get tips and hints on what to do next.This game is similar to final fantasy in a sense so if you liked that I would get this game its long it can be puzzling and its got a good story plot, I havent played it on the ps2 version I dont no if its much dfferent proberbly better graphics Not sure about change in story line, but still best game ever.

Legend of Dragoon was definitely one of my favorite RPG's for Playstation. It had a fairly good storyline, and you weren't stuck with the same characters throughout the game. Unfortunately, it was also a very easy game. The only challenge was the addition system, which I thought was pretty cool. I've noticed that as they make more and more RPG's they're getting easier and easier to beat. I beat Legend of Dragoon in under 30 hours the first time through without dying once. I miss the challenge that RPG's like Final Fantasy 4, Final Fantasy 5, and Chrono Trigger had. Final Fantasy 8 totally sucked with its magic as something you draw from enemies and the fact that there were actually very few random enemies ((they just became more powerful throughout the game)). Back to Legend of Dragoon, I also thought changing into Dragoons was cool, although the graphics could have been better. I mean, what was taking up the space of 4 discs if the graphics weren't that good, plus, when you get Coolon, you have to change discs to go to an earlier part of the game ((unlike FF7)). Overall, many good games have their problems, which is why I gave this game a 9.

OK OK, enough!
To all the ppl that rate this game a 1 star. How in the world can you "HATE" this game. I loved this game so much, and from looking at this page, so have many many others.
And hey, to all that say it was a rip off to the Final Fantasy series, listen up!!!! Why don't you look on the front cover and of FFVII and be amazed to see that Sony's logo is on it, so, that is not steeling when they helped make the other games.
The story line to this game was fantastic! The graphics were great, and the entire battle and gameplay was great too! I give SONY 100% satisfaction with this game and encourage them on making LOD 2 within the next few years. Everything was awsome if not perfict! I am not stepping on anyones foot, but I think that all the negitive comments are usless and come from the real sore loosers. (Don't worry, I bet your mommies still love you) Just look at all the work that SONY put into this game. 3 years! If you put 3 years into making a game and eveyone like some of you, downgrade it, it makes no money, would you like it.
BE NICE!
And look into what you are saying 1st instead of just crapping something stupid out.

Sure, graphics are pretty bad THESE days, but for developement over the years, It is Down right awsome, wouldn't anyone agree!?! The story, battle system, environment, and the best-quality, original Characters, all made me enjoy this from day one! Those of you who don't have this game, go GET IT!!!! This game is the, and always will be, the best RPG in the World![my opinion!!!;)] Other Squaresoft games make this one game SHINE upon all other compitition. (hey, I'm 13, gimme some credit, will ya?)Any way, this game is the BEST, as said earlier!!!! You can complain about the game, but you can't ruin it's state-of-the-art storyline. the characters, environment, etc. is totally original, and nothing can beat that! only thing the makers could have done without, were the voice-overs, they just suck. Well it is true, and I think everyone else would think so too. However, they also could bring in MORE Voices, just to hear how the characters expressed themselves, like FFX. This is a MUST-BUY for anyone, and guarantee, most, I mean MOST of everyone will love the game. I hope you will take this game in a whole different perspective, just the way I that I did.

After playing through this game I found it too have an original story line and characters...aswell as a great musical score. Ièm not sure as too why people are picking this game apart and saying that the storyline or the characters are "borrowed" from the Final Fantasy series...considering that the makers of this game were the SAME people. The game was all around great with a decent battle system and the ability too transform into a Dragoon which was really cool. though it was true about the map ebing a little bit boring at the fact that you couldn't really explore. The timed button hitting was a fun addition considering you would usually just watch the characters attack once which got boring after awhile. The Graphics on the game were good for their time....but the cut-scene graphics were great!...though the voice-acting was terrible. as for the sound quality it was decent and the music really went with most of the scenes and places. Overall I found this game very fun too play considering I am a rpg veteran and know what is in a good game. This is in my top 5 list for best rpgs but it is definatly not the best out there so I am giving it an 8...

I think Legend of Dragoon is a very good game, but it had the same old guy has to rescue girl thing going on. The relationship between Dart and Shana was kind of annoying through the whole thing. Even though the romance situation was the same as every other game, the rest of the game was excellent. The plot twists kept me playing. I found myself surprised most of the time. The characters are very well developed. I personally think that Rose was best developed because you could see why she was so cold to others. I liked Meru the most, personally. She acted like a normal person, even though she wasn't a normal person. I think the battle systems were the best out of all the RPGs I've played. It let you have control of how the character attacked. The graphics were okay in the first 2 discs, but were best in my opinion on discs 3 and 4. The CG animation was cool, even though scarce until the last half of the game. The voice overs were fitting in the CG cinemation. The originality was pretty high. The only other game I heard the word "dragoons" was in Chrono Cross from SQUARE. Other than that Legend of Dragoon was unique, exciting game.

First off, the good side
Additions - frustrating at first but makes turned-based combat a little bit more exciting.
Dragoon transformations - great animation
Dragoon spells - best looking "non-final-fantasy" spell animation
The bad side
Item capacity - 32 items??? what were they thinking. Number one flaw
Map exploration (or lack thereof) - huge map, but very little area to explore.
Leveling - 10 exp split up between the characters...wtf???
No critical hits - basically gets rid of the "luck factor"
Spell Items - item capacity renders these almost useless
Very little "true spells" - less than 40 dragoon spells
Almost linear story
lots of rip-offs
Dart -> Cloud
Shana -> Tifa
Lavitz -> Cid Highwind (had to put the last name...to many Cids)
Albert -> Edgar Figaro (from ff3/6 for those of us unfortunate enough to miss out on this game)
Kongol -> Barret (they look like they're identical twins)
Rose -> Selina, from Septerra Core (they both are very different from the rest, status-wise, and have the same anti-social, cold, annoying attitude.
Shana's dragoon transformation looks rather "sailormoon-ish"

The Legend of Dragoon, without a doubt, is the best RBG game ever. When i play it, me and the game come of one; i notice nothing of the outside world; the controller is just an extention of my body. This is not a game, this is a fantastic story that you watch, filled with twists and turns that will keep you at the edge of your seat. When i first rented this game, i played it non-stop; one day i played it for 12 hours. you want to put it down to save your eyes, but you just want to know what happens next. that is the greatness of it all. I eventually bought it some weeks later, and i eventually beat it! 50 hours is what it took me, seriously. It has a GREAT ending, one of the bests. everything ties together with one great end, ironic to an extent. Lloyd is a great villian; better than sethropoh(FFVII) in personality wise, but still, i got to hand it to sethropoh for being the best. Still, this game, in my opnion, is even greater that FFVII. I am playing it for a second time, and it is still as great as it was when i first played it. This game is a most have; with this game, you won't need anyother games for a long time.

I loved this game. I admit the gameplay graphics arnt that great but are damm good for the time considering what you had to work with. The story was magnifacent and captivating, the game is very orignal but had some repeditve parts but in the end it all added up and the story was stunning. The battle system is the best by far even for to day ,it got you involved in th battle not just select and watch with the combo system and the somtimes unexpected reversal. There was a large varity of monsters and some got very annoying though. The game gave much play ability it wasn't one of those 48 hours of gameplay (including finding all the secrets) it gave days upon end of game play (with out finding all the secrets. I would have given this game a higher score but we can only go up to 10 sooo oh well. In the end i was sad that Rose died but it was needed in the end. Oh and its crule that all the dragons died but it givesa goon foundation fo a sequil. Time to rate the sound the music was stunning. Rivaling the work of Nobu Uematsu. The music during the movie sceens captured the emotion of the sceen and made you feel every detail.

This will be the best game you will ever play. When I got the game I stade up to 1:30am then stoped. The end sucks cuz rose and Dart's father dies. the first and second disk took me 2 days and third and fourth took me 4 days.
dart was level 42.
rose was level 38.
hachel was level 41.
kongol was level 39.
meru was level 37.
albert was level 34.
miranda was level 29.HA
this game is the best. I got it at ebgames for $22.99 (CAN)
so be carefull you will get hooked to this game. Final fantasy games dont even come near to this game . so never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever say that legend of dragoon sucks. Who ever says that it sucks they suck.I can't beleive that you must right more than 200 words. Is this an essay or what. why wont they just let us right. Anyway get legend of dragoon.My friend ceeps calling me over to play the game. But finaly he got his own copy of legend of dragoon. I say congratulations to who ever got all the stardust and faced magician faust i'm in the moon and I got only 49. Just one more! Anyway get the legend of dragoon it ROCKSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

First of all I thought that the graphics could have used a little work, but they were good enough that it didn't ruin the concept of the game. Also the battle system was awesome (way better than the FF series). But it all comes down to the storyline. The story I thought was one of the best that could be written for any game. It made you feel like you were living the life of Dart. There were some flaws however. Since the game was basically about Dart's life you don't really learn much about the other character's.
What I think would make the game better is if they had voices instead of the little word boxes at the bottom of the screen. The little talk that was done in a persons voice doesn't really get the attention of most gamers. Personally though I thought the game was extremely thought out and that the producers of the game should be very proud of themselves. The Legend of Dragoon is one of the best RPG's made in the 20th century and probably will be for many years. I know most people think the FF series is better and I agree, but Ledgend of Dragoon will always keep its place among the greatest.

i ahte it when every person refers lof to ff7 u know what it should be the other way around ....lod is the best rpg i have ever played in my life even tho some ff7 things are better i would prefer lod to you then ff7...the cut scences are amazingly done like ff7 ..the story i thought was abslutely brilliant with the huge twst at the end and ff7 story was complete nonsense which wasnt very thought throughly. the in game graphics were like the same even tho everyone says that ff7 graphics are so much better. the battle system i think is better then ff7 even tho u had to time perfectly and even get counter attacks u can still get away more damage with the same amount of level as in ff7 were u get one attack and thats it , the addition is just the same as a limit break and u dont have to wait to get attacked before ur limit break is full while on the other hand u can keep getting lots of damage wih additions.OVERALL!!!! ff7 should be compared to lod because its so much better and most the ppl have never even played lod and they just think that ff7 is better (take it form me i have played both like 4 times each!!!!)

With many, many good RPGs out there, it is hard to put one at the top of the list. FF7 was incredible, FF8 was disappointing, Vagrant was OK, but now, with the introduction of The Legend of Dragoon, the effort to put one at the top of the list is finally possible. A word on graphics: With enhanced character rendering and killer cinematics, LOD is in a class of its own (for example, when Rose and Dart fall off the Queen Fury, the cinematic of the war between Dragoon and Winglies is amazing). The game's sounds also contribute to its greatness, with the pleasing world map sounds to the chilling boss music, it is second to none. There are many games out there with confusing controls as well as numerous unnecessary menus. LOD eliminates all of these problems with great ease thus continuing to allow easy controls and smoother, faster gameplay. There is no question about it, with so many RPGs out there, The Legend of Dragoon leads the pack. It is the pioneer for the new wave of RPG gaming, and a healthy "spokesperson" for millenium RPGs. It will be hard to replace or even match this one.

Legend of Dragoon is just basically the most awesome game ever. I loved it from start to finish. I've played it through like 6 or 7 times now and ive beaten all of the extra bosses, gotten all of the additions and all of the level five dragoons. even after playing it that many times I never get bored of it. The storyline was cool and interesting and the battle style was fun. I hope in the future they make a second Legend of Dragoon game. I wouldn't care if it was a sequel or a prequel, it would still be cool. I dont see how some people say this game is crap. Usually though these guys are just sayin that to defend final fantasy though I bet. Whatever though. I had a couple of questions at the end though that i couldn't figure out. (eg. Is Dart's mother infact Haschel's lost daughter Claire?) I guess this could be revealed in Legend of Dragoon 2 if it ever comes out. Hopefully one day. I can live with Legend of Dragoon (1) for now. If they ever did make a second Dragoon game though it should be for PS2 or PS3 when it comes out (that'd be cool eh?, imagine the potential they'd have with Legend of Dragoon on a PS3.)

i just bought this game about a week ago and i almost didnt get it. i didnt have enough money but my dad pitched in and we havent stopped plain it since. it was currently used but it hasent messed up yet, but it still could saying im only on disk 2. i give everything on this game a 10/10 so far but i dont think my oppinion will change. i cant tell u if it is better than any of the final fantasy games because ive only played 3 or 4 i dont remember which one.if any body knows any cheats like ones that would make your level dragoon or regular go all the way up and still looks at this site please e-mail me at bdporter777< remove me > at cs.com
i think there could be less monsters that fight you when your walking around though. that is the only bad thing about this game i can think of. those japs are really good at making games ill tell you what. it also could cut back on the weird sounds and weird music though. other than those 3 things i really love this game. its also really hard to find stardust. if any body knows how much stardust there is you have to find and what you get when you find it all please e-mail me

I really enjoyed playing the game.It had a really great storyline and i loved it. The additions were cool(especially gust of wind dance!) I really liked how the story all comes together so well. i wish people would stop sayin itz just like ff7. even if it waz, even though ff7 came up with it, dragoon would have made it much much much MUCH better. ff is oh k but ledgend of the dragoon is better and always will be. it is one of my fav. games along with 2 others. dragoon waz so awesome! game graphics were awesome and clear. i loved the music espellialy this opening song. i liked the sounds too. they were great and better than usual games. the fun part about the game is that dart is so in luv with shanna and won't admit it. some times i would scream JUST TELL HER!!!! no matter what people think i will alwayz think it is original. I think it will be worth something later on when it getz old!rose we forgive you!!!! Thatz one good line. Oh and Hashel...i luv you!! along with all of the other charicters.!! thiz really is the best game ever even though i have said it like 3 times!!! GO DRAGOONS!!!!

this game has put me under a curse i cant leave it no matter wat it is. The only time im ever let off this curse is when i sleep. And even then im dreamen dragons and plague rats(spent a while kilin rats) I like how they hid the stardust. ive betten the game 1s already but i hadent don very good so i restarted. I spent alot of time on meru dont ask y ijust did for som resen. kongol and dart just kinda got there. o ya i also like the additions i never miss a single one. I even got draged away from the tv by my boyfriend. This game even surpasses "diablo II expansion" and before i got it i was glued to diablo. the best part of the game is probably.........the way it thows u around endniss. ever one should own this game its how my sis would say "the bomb digity"

This game is one of the best games I have ever played. If you love RPGS like me and you don't have this game you need to get it I have beat this game sevral times but I never get board. The storyline is great and with the graphics it adds up to be an incredibul game. The battles are great and go with the sound really well. their is a lot of things that make this game unique like the additions I have mastered every one of them. Another thing is going Dragoon I have never seen anything like that. I know on some other games that have transformations but nothing like this. It is cool how at the beginning of the game you don't know anything that is going on but as you progess you learn every thing and even more. eack person has their own different Dragoon spirit exept dart who at the final boss gets another one.If you ask me the game has no downfalls but a lot of people disigree well either they haven't played it enough or just don't like parts and that makes their rating go down that sucks because I will always give this game a 10-10 and if I could I would give it an even higher rating.
