| Rob from PEI says (31/Mar/2003): |
This game is so Awsome 5 stars go to the game and well the other 5 go to the RPG's.
The additions are pretty hard to pull off but altogether i really like it.I will Actualy play it again...(some darn long time)FF7 is actualy quite good too. There are simularity's though, like Dart is Cloud and well you get the point. In The Legend of Dragoon i was surprised that it,the GRAPHICS. In battles are almost like COOL And it takes a big mind to fit in all differend bad guys.I loves the details. And the backround music.lol the forgrounds could have more detail though.I give hevin a welcome to this dream come true What A GREAT GAME!!!!!

Best Game from Sony so far |
| Kabraxis from Broadway/Va/USA says (26/Apr/2003): |
I love this game it has a great story line. The gameplay in battles is excellent I love the having to hit buttons to do an attack instead of the usual Rpg game where you just pick an attack and press a button,I think the battle system on LOD is alot more challenging and fun.The CGs are wonderfully made(what few of them there are). Its a pretty challenging game,I beat it in about 30 hours so unless you suck pretty bad you shouldn't take much longer than this. This is definately a great game for the RPG fan.The whole idea of your characters getting Dragon spirits and transforming into Dragoons is really cool and definately very original, there isn't enough magic attacks and abilities on the game as I would like but I can't hold that against the game.So my advice is at least rent this game and you should love it then buy it.I hope they make a second one soon.

The best game ever! better than ps2 games. |
| A gamer from usa says (28/Apr/2003): |
This game is awesome if you have a lot of time. even if you don't have much time still play it. I liked it so much that i made up a game to play in my spare time with my friends based on the game. It isn't like any other game at all. It has very very good graphics for a playstation game. Sound is great! Best rpg game ever. Although it takes FOREVER it's still awesome. Dragoon mode is great half damage and you won't get posioned, confused, ect. Yuo get to use magic like calling a dragon. you also get cool addtions. It is truly one of the best games ever!

Perfect game for me |
| Joe Dalpra from Manchester ,USA says (20/May/2003): |
My favorite game of all time. I've beaten it 7 times and still playing. Every time is better than the last and I've memorized it entirely by heart. I love the storyline and how it fits with every character. The graphics on this game are better than any PlayStation 1 game I've played. I also enjoy how long it is. I know a lot of people who don't like long RPG's but it just makes me whant to strive to beat it and finally find out what happens. The only problem (and i meen the ONLY problem) is how the dialog is not insink with the motion of the mouths. Other than that I think the background music and sound effects are excelent and go perfectly with gameplay. Personally i think this game will never be matched except by a sequal. I am happy to see that it made it to the "Greatest Hits" title because it deserves it. I would be happy to see a sequal to it. This is just one of those games that you just cant do without. Its unlike any other and seemes to be a lot more realistic when it comes to detail on objects within the game, bacgrounds, characters, and definately the movies. It also seemed to look more organic than any other game that I've played for the PlayStation 1. Over all I beleive that it is the BEST PlayStation 1 game that I have ever played.

Well made fun game. |
| Josh from Illinois USA says (21/May/2003): |
I personally liked this game quite a bit. The graphics were very good, I enjoyed the music, the story line was pretty good, and for everyone that says this is a rip of FF7 I think thats bull. Someone said they have been playing RPGs since legend of mana, wow, yeah, thats real long, I have been playing RPGS since they came out on the origional nintendo and Comodore 64. I enjoy this game and I do not think it is a copy of any other game. Thoese who say they copyed FF7 because of the spikey blond hair, well, you people apparently don't see many things that come out of Japan, just about every game, anime, picture, etc that comes from japan has someone with spkiey blond hair, and guess what; its not exactly a rare thing to see REAL people with blond hair. As for the story line, it could have been a little stronger, but over all it was very good. The graphics are the best I have ever seen on a Playstation 1 so thoese that someohow have the idea they suck, your just plain stupid, period. So far, the majority of "Dragoon haters" as many people call them were either too stupid to actually beat the game, or the kind of people that will rip on just about everything... I mean, the kind of people that would talk about how bread is a rip off of taco shells and talk about harvard copyed all the other schools. Overall I say the game is very good and is one of the best games I have played, thoese who talk to harsh of it, maybe you should attept to actually play the game all the way through before ripping on it. :)

One of the Best of th Best RPGs for the PS one |
| Ahmed from Las vegas Nevada says (6/Jun/2003): |
I have played this game more than anyone i know. Ive beaten it frm start to finish about 5 or six times and have used every character in the game. The best part of an RPG to e is the story and this ha a terffic story. Almost flawless you just hve to give it tim to develope. Pataince will ive you great satisfaction. The Graphics are great andso is the sound. The controls are easy. The Battle system is very uniqe which should catch your attention. Some of my friends complained that at times it became chor like but i like taking an activepart of he battle system where my skill and timeing determines the outcome of a battle so it feels more like your a part of the game. I didnt lik the fact that i coul only hold 32 items but I understand that its suppoesed to make the game toughe. I do admit that it didnt mke it harder and that it was a easy game as long as you didnt run away from half the fights. The Grand design of the story comes together perfectly as well as a few extra things that they never spell out for you but if you catch them the story is beyond amazing in its intracasy. Their are several mini games in differant partsof the game that offer no or little reward which is dissappointing but are fun to play. The bad guy in this is totally cool and has a intersting personalty which made me wish so badly that he would join up with us so i could use him. This game invokes emotions in you if you if you pay attention to all thats happening. Ive heard that this game has no secret bosses but thats not true. It has seven differant secert bosses. They tell you how you can find eac and every one of them its just tha you have to pay attention and remember thats why theyre secret bosses. I admit that the were not very hard except for one who is exceptionaly hard and is hard to get to because of the requirements to fight him. I hate comparing RPGs against one another because i love them al too much and each is sooo good. One thing is for sure comparing a game from the PS one to the PS2 is no right and completely unfair. I LOVE Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX which was the first out of the three that i played. Legend of Dragoon was he first game i played on the PS and it opened a door to great stories. Final Fantasy X is just tremandous. I could go on and on about all these games including Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story, Lunar Silver Star Story, Lunar Etarnal Blue, Star Ocean The Second Story, and i know im forgeting some plus there are many that i havent been privliged to play. Oh if anyone has any recommantions for any sysem please feel free to Let me know. Thank you and i hope you give Legend of Dragoon a chance. I loved how in the fist disc as you watch before you play and they show bits and peices of CG scences that you hear a song but its cut of as the scences end and te message "You are free to severe te chains the bind you..." I never heard that song through out the entire game and when you beat it it plays the entire song after some scenes that made me shed tears. Th song seems perfect for the game like i shows the emotions you feel. I dont know if anyone knows what im talking about, but if you do feel free to share. Ohh and Xenogears was an awsome game. Thanks

Possibly the best PS1 game ever |
| Mark from Jane Lew,Wv.,USA says (9/Jun/2003): |
Okay here comes my review my ideals on LOD is that the game is awesome i love the story line the characters the fights my favorite person is haschel i always got him in battle. This is probly my favorite RPG game other then FFVIII the only reason this one isnt my favorite is well that the voices dont always match the persons mouth and their voices i found dont match their bodies really. the graphics on the game especially in fighting times are awesome. Another thing i dont like is at the end when u dont really get to experiment with the divine dragoon's armor any and you cant earn any new things with it like you cant summon the divine dragon which would be totally awesome. ive beatin the game one time and im working on my second as of right now im just chillin in the moon that never sets building up my characters and getting all their stuff. the first time i beat it i was at lvl 35 with dart and 30 with haschel and 31 with rose. so you dont gotta be like final fantasy and have your levels jacked up to no wheres land to beat it which i lvoe to death. the game can be long can be short determines on the type of gamer u are for me its really short game. One last thing dont yall find it really ironic that haschels long lost daughter is darts mother and dart and haschel end up becoming friends and haschel realizes what is going on but yet dart does not lol i think its hilarious. this has been my review thank ya very much for readin

best game ever... |
| A gamer from Barrie says (16/Jun/2003): |
i belive this game is the best game ever. the battle system is the best ive ever seen, the graphics are the best ive seen for the psx, and the story line is amasing. the characters are very well developed expecally after the first disk u really get into the game. i like the idea of the additions. it makes the game so much better, because when you are battleing you have to consitrate on getting the additions right. at the end of the game you really get what has been happening through the game. i give this game a 10 out of 10 its pure gold

Best PSX RPG ever. Period. |
| Luke from Minneaplois, MN-USA says (23/Jun/2003): |
I think this is the best psx rpg I've ever played. Maxe that best RPG over any system. The battle system is the best out of all the rpg's out there, 'cause it actually requires you to think and be involved, unlike FF games where you just daze out and cast ultima over and over (you know whatI'n saying). The storyline was great...very new(well most of it), involving, and serious. Fun to follow. The graphics are the best I've ever seen for PXS, ex : They have facial expressions even if it's NOT a cg\fmvy, and they TALK! I don't know why no other psx rpgs have that...especiallly the FF games. It's nice to get an idea of what their voice sounds like. However there was only one (in my opinion) major flaw. The translations from Japenese to English were HORRIFIC!! Not only were there a TON of typos (like blossom the blossom storm\flower storm thing, or just when they say stuff sometimes), but sometimes they just didn'
t use the right wording. Or maybe it's just me, I don't know heheh. Anyway....GREAT game I really wish they make LOD 2!!

Why you should pick up Legend of Dragoon |
| InkedAngel81 from Murfreesboro, TN USA says (27/Jun/2003): |
Sit dn, shut up, and read.I remember when Legend of Dragoon first came out here in the US. I was walking through my local Wal-Mart and decided to check out the electronics section when I saw the game's demo for play on the PSOne. I saw graphics that knocked the snot outta anything that was on the market, not to mention when I actually tried the game out a couple of minutes later I found out that the battle system was unlike anything I had ever seen before!
Anyways, LOD was amazing... I still haven't finished the game in its entirety yet, but I plan on it, whenever I have the chance to sit down for a few hours outside of class and perform-ances in the theatre, that is. The battle system is top notch, it actually makes you work to get more damage. You can't just find the best weapon in the game, max out your strenth and then hit the "Attack" command to whip out mega-damage at the drop of a hat. You also don't just have to button-mash when your attack animation goes off in order to pump your attack to ultimate kill status, you have to time the presses, and actually succeed before you can get more damaging attacks and skills.
The characters are believable as well. I can replace any one of the characters in the game with one of my friends that I always hang out with... why? 'Cause at the heart of it all, each character, whether human, Giganto, or otherwise has a personality and motives. Add to it the fact that when a certain character bites the dust the plot line has already given you a ready replacement... THERE YOU GO!
The item system was realistic. I don't care how many games you have played where you can carry 9999 of item x, how in the world do your characters CARRY all that crap!?!? This game FORCES you to make decisions on what you are going to haul around with you... and yes, there were times when that almost cost me a BIG battle, but that's what memory cards are for! Then take into account that your armor and weapons aren't a part of what the inventory system COUNTS towards carried items, and you realize that you only have to manage the items you USE in battle, not EVERYTHING you find, and you can appreciate why the designers made the game this way.
Even though I could hit every aspect of the game, and praise it on hands and knees, there are a few bugs, but who cares? Until then, if you haven't played Legend of Dragoon, at least rent it, and remember, it's a PS Classic title, which means AT MOST it's gonna cost you $20, and if you have played it, try and look at it ALONE. Don't compare it to any other games out there RPG or otherwise, and see if your rating doesn't bump up a notch or two... Remember, all NEW games kick butt, we've never seen 'em before. Games aren't ALWAYS a rip-off of another game, but let's face it, there are some UNIVERSAL elements in almost any form of entertainment, from games to movies to comics to books. And finally, if you just can't stand this game 'cause of coincidental similarities look back at who MADE this game... SONY. If Sony hadn't have made the PS as a platform who knows what we would have missed out on as gamers, and if they wanna take a little piece from a couple of games that have been made for THEIR machine and slap 'em together along with some completely new and innovative twists, I say they have the right to do it! Besides, it's all about the fun you have when you play the game, not the stuff you THINK was taken from somewhere else and put in a game because "It worked in ..."

The Legend Of Dragoon |
| Mike from NY USA says (22/Jul/2003): |
To beat the Divine Dragon u must not transform in2 dragoons or tha dragon can do more serously damage!!When i was fighting him,i transformed in2 a dragoon all of them and then that Divine Dragon just kicked me and it did 10500 damage 2 every1 in my party! So thats y DON'T TRANSFORM IN2 DRAGOONS!And pick the strongest Adddition of Dart like "Crush Dance"!It does 250Damage!And also choose Albert,Dart and Kongol 2 beat this hard monster! It took me 22mins. 2 beat this dragon!Keep on using additions 2 kill this dragon! When your on yellow or red of HP just keep on guarding and make sure u bought Angel's Prayers!Guard alot with Albert and Dart! When Kongol has Blue Hp,then start attacking with additions!I'm also stuck in the game!I have 2 reach the Town or City called SnowField but i can't and don't kno were the exit is 2 the worldmap!

This is the best game I've ever played! Final fantasy is no match to this game! Those 3 years taken to make this game was worth it! The Legend of Dragoon is my favorite game of ALL time!!! This is a great game everyone must play it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Play it and never forget it!

This game is great! |
| A gamer from CA, USA says (4/Aug/2003): |
This game is great! I know this review may be ages late since the game came out but this game is an antique.
The graphics look alright for its time, but the thing that struck me alot was the cutsceans. They looked awesome except for the fact that you cant hear a word they say.
Music wasnt as good as some game before it but it had the basics, suspense music, battle music, dramatic music, and action music.
The long gameplay of the game is what every game should have. You dont want to get a game that you can beat in 2 hours and then just have it sit on your shelf and regret wasting money on it in the 1st place.
The battle system was kind of interesting. I like the additions and recovery system which was fun and challenging. Unlike in the FF series where you only did one hit or that a potion only recovered 100hp and you had over 5000hp. The magic system was also kind of impressive. Although a limited inventory hindered collecting hundreds of magic items, it was still ok.
Transforming into a Dragoon is also pretty neat. Although i dont like the fact that you cant guard, use items, escape, or transform back on will made it scary fighting a super strong boss and using special. The Dragoon magic is also nice although there could have been more spells to cast. Long spells are also alright as it gives you time to look for something in the fridge.
The story is also ok for an rpg. It even had an unexpected ending which i love to see in games.
Overall this was a fun game that has all that it needs to be a great rpg.

so kool |
| thes from california, usa says (8/Sep/2003): |
this game rocked but the bad part is how rose ends up being the black monster and dart doesnt kill her. for me the toughist battle is the second time you face the divine dragon that thing never wants to die. but its weird how darts father is still alive after who knows how long.

Great Story Plot |
| Mario from Pittsburgh, USA says (28/Sep/2003): |
This game has one of the best story plot's I have ever come across. However, it seems the game was something a bunch of guys did in their spare time. The graphics are horrible (I'd rather have them 2D) and it is way too easy. Also the voices never sound the same between aditions and dragoon magics. Another thing that bother's me is the music. In the FF games you can sing along with the music, but the music here is just awful. I have to say if this game was given a little more time to make it would be one of the best rpg's ever.

its one of my favorite adventure games!!!! |
| kane kirkpatrick from Brazil,Indiana,usa says (28/Oct/2003): |
I was walking around in walmart and i was looking for a cheap adventure game, and i found it.By looking at the case i didnt think it would be very good. But when i played it it changed my mind.It reminds me alot of the final fantasy games.I didnt now what to think after i played it.All i can say is for those who dont like it, you dont now what your missing, and for those who are about to buy the game once you pick it up you won't want to put it down.

Much Fun |
| Martin Tizura from Chicago, USA says (12/Jan/2004): |
This game was alot of fun. I had wanted to play it since it first came out, but never got the time to get it. Now That I have it I love the game. Though I feel the graphics could have been improved more so then what they had.But it is still an enjoyable game. The Dragoon form is very cool, the way you can build up their Dragoon form. Espicaly at Lavitz death I hope that they decide to make a sequal to this highly action backed video game. The only change I can see them making besides the graphics, is the shared EXP. SO I keep hoping that there will be a sequal and I hope it will be soon. If they really try hard enough I belive that, Legand of Dragoon can become just as successful as the Final Fantasy series. That's what else that was good about the game it broke away from the Final Fantasy type set up of most Role Playing Games. There are no summons, no magic unless in dragoon form. No member of your team seems to act or sound like he/she could have come from Final Fantasy. Oh yeah there is no one named Cid either.

THE GAME ROCKS! |
| A gamer says (16/Dec/2004): |
Whoa... This game is the best game on earth. It doesn't even compare to the games on PS2. It has so imagination put into it like how they put Winglies and all the stuff. Its so cool! I keep playing it over and over again. It does get boring sometimes, and I do kick the screen sometimes. Lol. For the longest time I couldn't get passed the desert in disc. 4. lol. Although I do admit it's a very complicated game, as long as you are a type which likes to know what's gonna happpen next, you'll love this game. No game on PS2, X-BOX or GameCube that I know of, on existence, is better than this game. Although the graphics could be better, it still is wicked! If they made a sequel, even if it was like tons of money worth, I would buy it! It could be like "Legend of the Dragoon: The Starting Point" and you could be like Rose or whatever and learn about what happened more or whatever. I can play forever! I play for like 7 hourse one time. It's very very addictive and that's good! Thanks creators of LOD(Legend of the Dragoon). lol
