'Tis a good game |
| The Sus from St. Louis MO says (2/Apr/2005): |
I was rummaging through some of my old games, and I came across this one that I had never played. I've seen it played before, so I didn't think it was too interesting at the time. Once you actually sit in the drivers seat and play the game yourself, its a whole other story. I really enjoy playing this game. My major beefs with this game is: the storyline does get scattered a bit, the spells do drag out too long, I wish more items (potions and such) could be held, for being the main character Dart isn't that strong when he isn't a Dragoon... but its a game that does get addictive even with the flaws. I'm about 27 gameplay hours into the game, and I just beat Lenus (as the Dragoon with her hideously looking dragon behind her). Unfortunately there is something wrong with my disc because every time (4 times now) that I have defeated her, I recieve my exp and items, but the disk just blanks out after that. The weird thing is, I don't even have any scratches on the cd. I guess I got a faulty disc 2 in my set. I'm about ready to get upset! :P Anyone willing to part with theirs?

Review of Dragoon (not FFVII) |
| Jupiter from Atlanta, USA says (15/Aug/2001): |
Dragoon was a well thought out came all though it was really easy. Did anyone else find that they didn't have to transform into a Dragoon ONCE during the last battle? Anyway...the graphics were really good a far cry above those on FFVII, about on par with FFVIII. They seemed to be able to fit a TON of gameplay on each disc, which was really nice. The translation was really weak however. I actually found myself laughing at the poor translation when I should have been concerned for the characters! I don't really think that Dragoon is a blatent rip off of FFVII. The whole child hood friend in love with the dashing hero storyline is so played. Even BEFORE FFVII. Get over it, you guys. The game was overall pretty fun to play. I think that the creators took down the battle challenge factor because of the intorduction of additions. I don't think that they knew gamers would pick it up so well. The additions thing really did improve the battles and made them MUCH more fun than some of the FF series. Over all the game is very playable (even if the Shana Dart relationship does feel fake!)

| Nash from TN.USA says (6/Nov/2006): |
Final Fantasy & Ledgend of Dragoon now there are some great games right there. This game is realy great. game play, fighting styel was a little hard to get use to but once I got the "Madness Hero" combo I got used to it real quick. OUCH my head hurts just trying to figure it out. know this game is realy great so is Fianl Fantasy so every one please just stop the fighting over wich is better they both rock n roll! and they bopth have there down falls but what game don't? huh. now i think if some one wer to put there heads to gether they might come up with a way to put both games in one so big Final Fantasy fans can play there game way and Ledgend of Dragoon fans can play there way that way every one is happy! WAHOOOOOOOOOO! LOL

This Game Rules |
| Tabitha from Ironton,Ohio says (7/Oct/2005): |
I think this game is so awsome. It has a good story to it,scenes, and characters. There are so many different levels, weapons, ect. I would higly reccomend this game to anyone.I played this game myself there is a part that I have not been able to pass yet but still working on it. other than that I think it is a very cool game.My husband sits on the couch and plays The legend of dragoon on my playstation and our son will watch us. Anyone who says this game s not fun is full of crap.I am real big on video games and I know what game is very awsome to play.I won't answer the phone when I am playing this game because I really get into it. I am sure there are alot of people who get into games like this and they know what I am talking about.I play this game with my friends that come over to hang out we order pizza and we have a ball. I play this game 6 hours a day at least. I get very addicted to video game even like this game.I probably wouldn't let my child play this video game until he got older because the fact is there is weapons and killing and that is not suitable for children.

But then there's that damned dialogue. |
| Kimberly Wardrop from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada says (24/Feb/2008): |
I enjoyed Legend of Dragoon for its battle system. It was evolutionary, in the fact that the player had the chance to be far more interactive in the battles than in other traditional RPGs. But sometimes, I'd have to pause in the middle of character speech, and say: "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
Almost every aspect of this game was perfect. But the dialogue was God awful! I felt that the director let his twelve year old son write the script from time to time. In the FMV's, it sounded as if they hired professional wrestlers to read off the dialogue. Overall, no character development, or any kind of development for that matter, occurred in the speech bubbles. It was horrifying.
Perhaps I'm just too much of a dialogue whore. But if you wanna impress me in a roleplaying game, you gotta pull off a Final Fantasy XII dialect. If a child in grade four can develop a better plot through script, you need to tweak a few of your staff memebers in such a project.
But that's me being negative. It was a great play, and I still enjoy it eight years later.

this game was the second best rpg ever |
| pepsi from e'ville usa says (8/Jul/2002): |
this game had nothin' to do with ff7 at all. i don't know what bonehead said that but they were wrong! this game had awsome graphics cool moves and stuff like that but ff7 has to be the most confuseing game i ever played.. ledgend of dragoon was a little to easy to get through it only took me a week and a half to get to disk four!! i've had ff7 for almost a year and i'm still on disk one! ledgend of dragoon is in my book the second besy role playin' game ever next to the entire final fantasy series which if i didn't mention yet are the greatest games ever of all time!!!!! back to dragoon now this game has out of this world graphics and the character developement is extreamly cool the bosses could be a little bit harder to beat but who's complaing. the only thing that would make this game better is if you could wander around the world map like on final fantasy 7,8,& 9. i myself give this game 8 stars and no more or no less reason being being trapped on the dotted path the 32 item rule and the not all that hard bosses. that my opinion and i'm stickin' to it.

Best PSX RPG ever. Period. |
| Luke from Minneaplois, MN-USA says (23/Jun/2003): |
I think this is the best psx rpg I've ever played. Maxe that best RPG over any system. The battle system is the best out of all the rpg's out there, 'cause it actually requires you to think and be involved, unlike FF games where you just daze out and cast ultima over and over (you know whatI'n saying). The storyline was great...very new(well most of it), involving, and serious. Fun to follow. The graphics are the best I've ever seen for PXS, ex : They have facial expressions even if it's NOT a cg\fmvy, and they TALK! I don't know why no other psx rpgs have that...especiallly the FF games. It's nice to get an idea of what their voice sounds like. However there was only one (in my opinion) major flaw. The translations from Japenese to English were HORRIFIC!! Not only were there a TON of typos (like blossom the blossom storm\flower storm thing, or just when they say stuff sometimes), but sometimes they just didn'
t use the right wording. Or maybe it's just me, I don't know heheh. Anyway....GREAT game I really wish they make LOD 2!!

LoD is one of the best!!! |
| A Gamer from USA says (26/Nov/2005): |
Well where do i start to tell how a great game it is?First anyone that hated it either didnt play it or didnt beat it.Dragoons are really cool the only thing i didnt like was when you got to summon dragons in dragoon mode.I thought that you would play as the dragon and not only do one attack and then its gone. But when it comes to dragoons there awsome.I dont think its copyng ff or anything its an almost original game.It was fun and the ending was the toughist part and it wasnt short.Man,Kongal is my guy the best ever for me and then rose and then dart my main party right there. The new additions you get i dont use those i use the first ones because they do more damage in my oppinion. Some of the bosses were easy for me all you have to do is get ur special and then turn into dragoons with all three and then attack with who ever did that with. The only boss the really got P.Od was the jewel thing.Man, was that hard not turning into draggons and beating him but i managed.Overall, i think anyone who likes RPG's should add this in thier collection!!!

why you should get this game |
| Justin Ambrose from Virginia in the USA says (31/Aug/2004): |
I have played through this game and beaten it 3 times. I leveled all my characters and got all level 5 dragoons for everybody. I have played final fantasy 7,8, and 9 but The Legend of Dragoon is still my favorite because of the additions. I have played a long time on this game and I still love it and don't find any reasons not to buy it except for no pausing. The graphics are good for a playstation game but the cutscenes are the best on the playstation. My sister's friend gave me this game and I played the game as soon as I got home. It is hard to compare The Legend of Dragoon to Final Fantasy 7 because these two games are are both my two favorite RPG's. I have played both of them for over 300 hours. If you have never played an Role Playing Game before you need to. These games are meant to be played hours on end. Bottom line is you need to play Legend of Dragoon because of the cutscenes and the additions and definatly the story. I give this game a 10. If you have any questions about this game you can email me at flamehead_9_9< remove me > at yahoo.com

Amazing |
| Leon Valentine from South Park, Colorado, USA says (21/Dec/2006): |
The game legend of Dragoon would have to be one of the best rpg games for the ps1. I think it even tops the final fantasies. The only problem i had with it was the exp system when it divided it by three later in the game. I'm totaly looking forward towards a Legend of Dragoon 2. It's a shame that lavitz... well everyone knows what i'm talking about and if you don't play the game and you'll see.
In the end the graphics, the plot, the characters, everything just rocked. It's amazing that this is a ps 1 game because they actualy have voices in the cut scenes. I have to admit that the cut scenes are better then FF 8. All RPG players shouls play this game.
I don't mean to brag but i am the Legend of Dragoon master. I have gotten all of the star dust. Everyones final weapon. Mastered all the dragoon spirits and got all my characters to level 60 which is the max level. You have to be realy patient to get all of these things but it's worth it. It makes it easier to beat secret bosses that aren't apart of the game plot.

Haven't finished it yet but I love it. |
| Sean from Rogers, MN says (9/May/2004): |
Music: Ok, but felt wrong, could have been better.
Storyline: Awesome.
Battles: Loved them, the Additions I found were a nice and innavative touch. They alone made the game popular to me.
World Map: Like other world maps, a world map.
I loved the game. The story line was awesome, new. The graphics, well, I'm not sure what to compare them to, but they were ok. The world map, was a world map. My favorite part was the additions. You had to time every attack just so to get either a huge amount of damage, or a small amount or damage, depending on what you were aiming for. The additions are pretty much what made my rating a 9, I loved it. The music... You know, copies off the FF series, oh well, still good. FF is good. The game made ya think. That's hard to do and keep people happy, so there's a big one. An irony, but for a short time I thought The Legend of Dragoon WAS one of FF series, except better. I kept getting it and FF9 mixed up. So... altogether, it coulda been better, but it's still awesome. THE LEGEND OF DRAGOON RULZ!

THE GAME ROCKS! |
| A gamer says (16/Dec/2004): |
Whoa... This game is the best game on earth. It doesn't even compare to the games on PS2. It has so imagination put into it like how they put Winglies and all the stuff. Its so cool! I keep playing it over and over again. It does get boring sometimes, and I do kick the screen sometimes. Lol. For the longest time I couldn't get passed the desert in disc. 4. lol. Although I do admit it's a very complicated game, as long as you are a type which likes to know what's gonna happpen next, you'll love this game. No game on PS2, X-BOX or GameCube that I know of, on existence, is better than this game. Although the graphics could be better, it still is wicked! If they made a sequel, even if it was like tons of money worth, I would buy it! It could be like "Legend of the Dragoon: The Starting Point" and you could be like Rose or whatever and learn about what happened more or whatever. I can play forever! I play for like 7 hourse one time. It's very very addictive and that's good! Thanks creators of LOD(Legend of the Dragoon). lol

For all the LOD Haters |
| Anthony from Florida says (7/Oct/2005): |
Ok listen up. This is the best PS game i've ever played. its even better compared to some of the rpgs that i've played on the PS2. For all you haters especially the one who said you'd have to be on crack to have played it, give me a break its a PS game and honestly i haven't seen one PS game with any graphics more or less bad than LODs.All i'm trying to say is what kind of graphics do you expect from it a PS10s!!!The trasformations, the characters, and the story plot were all exceptionally good. And another thing on almost everybody's opinion i saw something about FF7 or 8.LOD, FF, and all other rpgs i've played up until now were all basically the damn same and i'm getting tired of good ideas being compared to FF. FF doesn't have dragoons, the same storyline, or attack sequence. the only thing ive seen similar between the two is(attack, wait for them to attack, then take your turn again while they wait)ive owned FF 4,7,8 and 10 and LOD does not fit in any of their categories.SO LAY OF LOD,THE GREATEST PS1 GAME EVER!

Much Fun |
| Martin Tizura from Chicago, USA says (12/Jan/2004): |
This game was alot of fun. I had wanted to play it since it first came out, but never got the time to get it. Now That I have it I love the game. Though I feel the graphics could have been improved more so then what they had.But it is still an enjoyable game. The Dragoon form is very cool, the way you can build up their Dragoon form. Espicaly at Lavitz death I hope that they decide to make a sequal to this highly action backed video game. The only change I can see them making besides the graphics, is the shared EXP. SO I keep hoping that there will be a sequal and I hope it will be soon. If they really try hard enough I belive that, Legand of Dragoon can become just as successful as the Final Fantasy series. That's what else that was good about the game it broke away from the Final Fantasy type set up of most Role Playing Games. There are no summons, no magic unless in dragoon form. No member of your team seems to act or sound like he/she could have come from Final Fantasy. Oh yeah there is no one named Cid either.

This game is more than fairly decent... |
| A gamer from Findlay, Ohio, U.S.A. says (17/Jan/2003): |
For starters...Any good R.P.G. has to have a good story-line, good battle-system, and a good set-up(such as the window displays, etc.) Legend of Dragoon has all of that listed and then some. Good story-line, fairly good graphics(although i don't think graphics are all that important if the story-line makes up for it) and a good battle-system. I like the addition thing(it's fairly tough but a challenge is good in a game) I have played many games before this one...mainly rpg's...and this particular game is in the top favorites...for sure......I would aslo encourage other rpg fans to try Chrono Trigger(of Final Fantasy Chronicles), Legend of Legaia(killer game!), Final Fantasy 7(beautiful game! one the best i've ever played) Final Fantasy 8, Breath of Fire 3(if your a dragon fan like me, BF3 is a good one!) and Mario RPG:Legend of the seven stars(for SNES,old but still fun) Overall, Legend of Dragoon is not only in my intersets as a good rpg but it's good for dragon lovers too. I hope you enjoyed my opinion of it.

All I have to say is......IT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Angel Johnson from USA says (18/Sep/2005): |
Who ever says that this game is stupid or even boring! Their just mentally Ill! I mean its the funnest game ever! It has an awsome story line and you really get into the game! I mean I felt like I was there with em! They're is so many twists and turns...you never know whats coming up next! And then theirs action, romance, excitement and mystery! What more can you ask for. Ok maybe it is 4 discs long but just let me tell you! Thats not enough! I mean at the very beggining of the game it caught my interest! I mean most games try to get your interest at the beggining then it just goes off and gets boring! But they keep it interesting! And the characters each havetory of their own to tell! But the best thing I think is as you go along the story unravles its self! I think its the best thing that I've ever played! I mean I cried at the end when it was done! I hope theirs gonna be another one! And just let me tell you! If you get this you wont regret it! Take my word for it! Once you play it you wont want to leave it!

WSD's L.O.D. Review |
| A gamer from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada says (9/Feb/2001): |
I loved this game. It is the best RPG I have ever played, yet it was not flawless, nonetheless. I have played it through 8 times in the last 4 months, and loved it every time.(My fastest time was 38 hours using Dart, Rose & Shana/Miranda(replace each other)) I found that even though the cinematics were quite well done, and realistic, the in-game graphics could have been better. I also would have expected, since the game is 4 discs, that there would be voice, even in the cut-scenes (non-cinematic)and that there would have been the option of turning captions on and off. I especially like the dragoon dragon summon magic, especially the white silver dragon summon that shana/miranda gets, mostly because it never does less than 1500 damage and always heals your guys!(Divides damage equally among party members to heal!) The only thing that dissappointed me about this game: I had to wear my new glasses constantly while playing and therefore had a headache after quiting most of the time! This game, over all, is peachy
|
The game was the best I ever played |
| Dragoon Master from Canada tronto says (24/Nov/2004): |
I thought the game was awesome it was better then awesome from the start of disk 1 when you were going through the forest and the green tucked dragon attacked you till the end of disk 4 when you battled the final boss. The game was fun to play it was a long game but worth my time and effort the bosses were fun to battle and I thought the graphics were really good for a ps1 game the attacks by the enemies were really cool what I liked most were the dragoon transformations and the attacks I also liked story line I thought it was geniuses there were twist and turns and you never new what was coming next you also learned the characters in the game my favorite character was rose I loved all of her attacks she was the coolest character in the game the dragons in the game looked really and so did there attacks I hope they come out with a legend of dragoon 2 or at least a game like it the final boss was the longest but funniest battle I wish it was a 10 disk game because 4 wasn’t enough. The game was awesome
