i just bought this game about a week ago and i almost didnt get it. i didnt have enough money but my dad pitched in and we havent stopped plain it since. it was currently used but it hasent messed up yet, but it still could saying im only on disk 2. i give everything on this game a 10/10 so far but i dont think my oppinion will change. i cant tell u if it is better than any of the final fantasy games because ive only played 3 or 4 i dont remember which one.if any body knows any cheats like ones that would make your level dragoon or regular go all the way up and still looks at this site please e-mail me at bdporter777< remove me > at cs.com
i think there could be less monsters that fight you when your walking around though. that is the only bad thing about this game i can think of. those japs are really good at making games ill tell you what. it also could cut back on the weird sounds and weird music though. other than those 3 things i really love this game. its also really hard to find stardust. if any body knows how much stardust there is you have to find and what you get when you find it all please e-mail me

Number 1 thing to make this game better: the graphics in the game to match the graphics in the movie cut scenes
Points I liked in the game:
Additions: great way to be involved and make the game different each time
Cut Scenes: Outstanding graphics and voice overs.
Side quests: Great to have, fun to find.
Points I did not like:
It was really short. Sorry, but I can beat the game in less than 50 hours. Also it takes alot of work just to get more than three characters to the 5th level of dragoon. And it's also hard to finish all the additions. I found myself running in circles just to get more battles.
As with all RPG's I've played, I'd like to have more characters in the battles, and more characters in general.
It would have been great to have Lloyd in my team as well, great character.
The graphics are poor. Absolutly poor. When it came out, I'm sure they were competative, but today...blah. This is not about the movies though, those were outstanding.
The text was sad. The story line was interlaced and complicated (not hard just lots to it) but some of the lines are just dumb.
Dart is a moron. I always get annoyed when the main character in fantasy is out of touch with the obvious. Also shana is way too whiny for me.
Overall I loved the game. Alot. That is why I have so many specific notes about what needed work. This is the only PS game I ever purchased, (thanks to college roomates) and I don't own a PS. I had to have the game. I think it would be awesome to have a sequel to the game, but I don't know how it would fit into the story line. They did solve alot of problems in the game (couple wars, race issues - winglies, whole bunch of upstarts (doel, leenus, etc.). Here's what I think they should do for the LOD2:
Continue the saved game from LOD and start from the last save point to go through the final battle again since you never really get to use the experience points.
New additions, and higher top level for the ones already there.
Higher Dragoon levels.
BETTER GRAPHICS
New characters.
As for the story, here's a way they can get started. Dart is participating in the Strongest Fighter contest again in Lohan, and everyone has come to see him. Then they can run off from there.

Legend of Dragoon is fabulous. Thats what everyone is saying isnt it. Great story, characters bla bla bla . Well sorry to spoil the party people, but this game is the most unoriginal peace of crap to ever hit the market. All of you who loved this game and hastily gave it a score of 10/10 are absolute suckers. I would hope that those people who post reviews to Stationplay.com should at least have some insight into the videogame world and enough experience to give their opinions credibility. But some novices keep giving Legend of Dragoon 10/10 when really all copies of it should be gathered and burnt. Sorry for babbling on here but now ill explain my reasons why this game is such a joke.
Has anyone heard of a game called Final Fantasy VII. Arguably the greatest and most revolutionary game ever. Now, what was it that made this game so great. Characters such as Cloud and the charming and sinister Sephiroth, in combination with some of the most climactic and dramatic scenes ever to appear in a game, made Final Fantasy VII the most awe-inspiring title ever. The scene in which Sephiroth jumps from nowhere and stabs Aries in the back would have to be the most thrilling moment in videogame history, along with Squall and Siefer's duel during the intro of Final Fantasy VIII.Yet Legend of Dragoon has criminally taken these characters and moments which made Final Fantasy V11 so great and reproduced them in the most appalling and downright ridiculous act of piracy I have ever seen. For all of u who havent realised it yet, Dart and Lloyd are basically reproductions of Cloud and Sephiroth. In both appearance and character, Lloyd is the same as Sephiroth, just look at them for crying out loud. They both have platinum hair, wear the same clothes, are unparralled in their swordsmansip. I could just keep going on. Although this is already unforgivable, one thing in particular just keeps bugging me. The moment in which Sephiroth stabs Aries has been reused in Legend of Dragoon in the form of Lloyd stabbing and killing Dart's buddy Lavitz.
Anyone who played Final Fantasy VII, whether they liked it or not, should be able to see what a blatant act of injustice the makers of Legend of Dragoon have committed against the ever superior developers at Squaresoft. So those of you who keep showering Legend of Dragoon with praise should realise that the characters and moments that made you love this game so much were stolen from the original and the best, Final Fantasy VII.

For some of you people who gave this game a 1and related this to final fantasy VII I have one thing to say were you paid to say that. I mean dart is'nt anything like Cloud in terms of personality. I didn't see (so far 4th disk) dart being persicuted for being a former enemy. He was not a mercinary either. So what if dart and shana fall in love with each other. In almost all RPG's the main character has someone special. The limit break/dragoon system was the exact opisit, instead of being hit by an enemy(final fantasy VII) you need to attack the enemy speeding up the charge time with different additions. The Final Fantasy's are all great games but saying they are a complete rip off from each other is just wrong. For the people wh gave it a 1, I can undersand this game as A LOT of flaws, such as the graphics, bad Translations, limited item storage, The constant switchings of disks, and extremily long spells, This game is one of the best RPG's I've ever payed. I was so hooked I didn't go outside for two days. The graphics aren't so bad you can't tell the bad/good guys. And any ways do you really buy a game for it;s graphics I mean doesn't the fun factor mean anything to you LOD haters. The voice acting was actually pretty good( not like Valkyrie profiles boy in the wishing stone part who tataly sounds like ash from pokenon), This is a great game with many areas in which to improve. It is far away from the worst RPG game ever invented and also far away from being perfect. This game has a great base but needs some improvement. No game is perfect because they try to reach as many people as possible not just on specific group, P.S. I personaly think their movies are better than any final fantasy I have ever seen. Not counting FFX which I have yet to try.

I'm not quite sure what some of you people are talking about... Everyone is saying Dragoon is a rip-off of Final Fantasy 7, because Dart has a sword like Cloud, and Shana has a crush on Dart just like Tifa did on Cloud. Please, people! I can't think of any RPG where the main character doesn't use a sword as his weapon, and the main chick character doesn't have a crush on the main guy. That's what practically makes an Role Playing Game. In Devil May Cry, Dantes' main weapon is usually a sword (Ifrit Gauntlets aren't swords). Trish has a crush on Dantes, so does that mean Devil May Cry copies Final Fantasy 7 too? I don't think so. I belive Legends of Dragoon are their own game, and aren't a rip-off of any games.

I think that Legend of the Dragoon is a great game. It has very good graphics for Play Station. The story is great and I like the fact that you can control dragons. If you have a lot of time this is a good game. I loved the fighting, it was very realistic and quite graphic. I think the characters well thought out, their background stories were interesting. I liked the monsters that you fight they are very original. I hate it when enemies are too easy to beat but the game was very challenging. I would recomend the game to anyone who enjoys fantasy and dragons. i've beaten the game already and I liked it so much i'm going to beat it again.

The greatest game in my opinion is Legend of Dragoon.This game takes off relatively fast and doesnt slow down...even when the bosses seem too tuff.The game play is great with the whole game spanning over four disks.the side quest are numerous and their is always a good time to be had...mini games and betting at sea are some examples.the opening cut scene is just awesome and leaves little to be desired and the sound qaulity is astounding...the graphics are okay...but the action makes up for this.this game is for any type of person with love,action,death,ecitement and a little touch of humor here and there.many may quit and give up on this game but soon find them selves back at it in a day or two...i love this game cus it gave a great sense of reality...the characters were beleivable and seemed to have real feelings...you can feel Shana's feelings toward Dart as you can feel Roses shame for what she did in the past...this fact alone would be a good reason to get the game.It might even make some sad as the ending cut scene begins to play.this game takes a great deal of time to beat.even for a hardcore gamer such as myself...the fighting parts are spiced up with a special fighting technique called additions.many games have these but this games is different...the items are orriginal and have great particle effects and you watch in astonishment as Dart brings down an opponent with his mighty Flame Shot...the bosses are even cool.You'll love the Divine Dragoon and the rest of the enemies...you can tell the producers spent time on this production and you'll be glad they brought this epic adventure to your console...happy fighting future and already LOD fans!!!!!!!

Before detailing why this game is not so great, I will outline a few pros of Legend of Dragoon.
-Beautiful pre-rendered backgrounds and some of the best fmv your likely to see
-Innovative and fun battle system
-Good music. The tune that plays when your about to fight a boss is great and revs you up for a tough fight.
-Although the plot as a whole is fairly poor, there are a number of twists revealed towards the end which save some grace.
However, I cannot help but be disappointed with this game.I finished the game over a week, watched the final glorious cut scene, but after all was said and done, i could not help but feel unfulfilled by the entire experience. My biggest complaint would have to be the initial slow pace to the plot. The story only really starts to get interesting during disc 3 and by then, the game is almost over!
Anyone who has played games, especially rpgs, for a long time, can tell the difference between a good game and a great one. Every time i pick up an rpg, I am forced to compare them to the unsurpassed brilliance of games such as Final Fantasy 7 or Chrono Cross. I have played a great many rpgs, yet when picking up titles such as these, I still feel an extra something, which I didnt feel when I played Legend of Dragoon.Rpg masterpieces such as these have an aura, which perhaps only Squaresoft has been able to capture. We remember the characters and music of games such as these long after we have finished them. Anyone who has finished Final Fantasy 7 are sure to remember the charismatic and evil Sephiroth, or breeding Chocobos to find the secret materia 'Knights of the Realm'. When I started playing Legend of Dragoon, i felt more like 'here I go again, another rpg' and after I had finished it, I wasn't really left with any happy memories. Game developers should be aware that great graphics dont mean a great rpg. Take Xenogears for instance. Although not matching Legend of Dragoon graphically, as a whole, Xenogears takes Legend of Dragoon to the cleaners. Those who are just beginning on their rpg adventures may find this brilliant and be satisfied. Yet long time rpg players, who where initiated with greats such as Chrono Trigger , Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy 6 should look elsewhere. The following is a list of the top 5 rpgs available for the playstation. BUY THESE INSTEAD! I SWEAR ABSOLUTE ALLEGIANCE TO THESE TITLES FOR AS LONG AS I LIVE.

its more walking around then anything the only complaint I have about dragoon is the music was annoying and that they compare it to ff7 that gives dragoon a bad name they are because dragoon makes ff look like crap

u know... i play ff7 and LOD i believe that if you like the ff series then ull like LOD. it might not have the best graphics but it has good enough to keep it in the game.. no doubt some of the ff games have some very good graphics.. but take ff7 for instance.. in the end it leaves u in a pile of stars... i mean come on.. in the end of LOD it doesnt leave u hangin.... the charters are original.. the way the battles systems go.. i give them a 8/10 the. i would recomend the game to people that like the ff series. so.. with that off of my chest.. i dont really appericiate the people calling this game is crap.. u proabibly only say that because u never actually beat the game.. or maybe never could get the hang of the additions.. i donno but its a game worth while.. so if u really think the game is crap just keep it to ur self.. or put in it in better ways.. its not CRAP.. so thank u very much and i would really recommend this game to people that play ff and thats all i have to say.. c ya

First off, I hate every single character in this story - if there's a story. They're dumb, boring and superficial. I especially can't stand the ever annoying Dart. The story is interesting at first but quickly runs its course by the end of disc 2. By then u no longer care what happens next. When u stop caring about the characters that's pretty much it. But... this game has an amazing battle system - a biter of vagrant story but they picked the right game to bite. Which gives it a replay value which is rare for RPG's. I play this game entirely based on the battle system. Graphically - it's also very attractive. Thought I'm pleased w/ the battles - I'm certainly disappointed by the fact that the editors fail to pick up grammatical and spelling errors which were littered through out the game. Obtaining money is more of a chore than any other game I'v played. It could be quite frustrating especially if u want to get something that's ridiculously priced. All in all, this makes for a decent temporary distraction until the next ff. comes out.
If u like this game, u might also want to consider legend of legaia which is on the same vein. Dumb story, dumb characters but has a wicked battle system and environment.

The Legend of Dragoon doesnt make any sense, in my oppinion it sounds better saying Legend of the Dragoon... I just started playing this game, and so far i really like it, my chars are only lvl 20 :P, and right now im on the ghost ship trying to get that damn combo for that chest...(if any of u kno the combo send it to me at mocho_man36< remove me > at hotmail.com pllzzz :P) But yea, neways, i love this game so far...the graphics are kinda good...just like FF9, the graphics in the gameplay are all cut, but the movies arent, they're all perfect :P, hmm yea, so i love it, and anyone who doesnt, can suck a big fat one...u kno what i mean! SO yea, all rpg's rule, the FF's are ok..the only one i didnt like was ff8...i tried it at my friends house and hated that game...the only ff's i really like are ff7 and ff9..beat both of em of course...so easy

You people are stupid for saying "Oh this game is nothing compared to FF7, the story is crap, the game play is crap, the music is crap, the scenes are crap, blah blah blah blah blah." This game is almost exactly like FF7 as far as graphics and sound.
First off, the good.
This game is, in my opinion, very entertaining and quite possibly rivals FF7 (it beats FF8 by eleventy billion points).
I don't fall for "Ooh! Ahh!" graphics. Frankly, I don't care. Yes, good looking graphics make for a good looking game, but the gameplay itself should be the number one priority in judging a game; what do you spend the most time doing? Playing the friggin game, and the graphics don't hinder your progress in the long-run.
I saw this story to be a fresh, imaginative plot. Much like the plot of FF7, which was also new and exciting.
As for the game play (i.e. battle system, abilities, attributes, etc.), I found it to be creative and new. There were good and bad. The "uber weapon with a bad side" found in the Soul Devourer made you think twice before equipping it when long battles were coming up. This alone scored points, forcing you to strategize about your fights based on your surroundings and locations, items, equip, party members, etc. The additions were a nice touch, considering the enemy could counter at any moment. However, the additions were rather difficult at times, and frustrating when you're trying to keep up with the timing. The Dragoon additions are by far the most difficult, at least for me.
Sound was pretty good. It doesn't sound so MIDI like FF7, particularly in battles. Maybe its just me. Some of the sound and music was a lot like FF7, but you just have to accept the fact that games copy things from other games, and the fact a game borrows something from another game shouldn't determine how good or bad it is.
Characters were cool. I don't get into the whole "This person is good because blah blah blah" thing. I think the characters were balanced and well planned. The fact there's 3 healers total (Shana, Meru and Miranda), a secondary healer (Rose), and characters with status healers and party buffers and stuff makes this game seem more unlike "equip hero with best_weapon_01 and best_magic_01 and skip everyone else's turn" with every passing moment. They look like they actually have useful armor, unlike some spikey haired hero in a purple cloth suit that comes to mind. Don't get me wrong, I love FF7, but it's not the greatest game that makes all other games look like trash.
Anyways, I only have 2 beefs with this game... The cut scenes you have to sit and watch, and Dart. His name, his naiveness, bah. He bugs me.
This is a solid RPG that's definitely worth a play. It's challenging and fun and it actually makes you think (God forbid). As for my comment on this blowing FF8 out of the water, anything could easily blow FF8 out of the water. 1 word best describes why I hate FF8... "Draw," followed by "Cards," "Story," and "(Last) Battle." There's no excuse as to why I was able to beat the final boss countless times without a single casualty. That's just dumb.
Back on track here, this game is good. Go give it a try.

At first i am a big fan of Final Fantasy but now i am a big fan of The Legend of Dragoon when my cousin introduce to me(I am stilll a fan of Final Fantasy).This game is more better and fun than Final Fantasy.This is the best rpg game that i ever play in my life!I had played 8 times already.It is the first rpg game that i play for 8 times!

I think this is the BETS rpg game in the WORLD!!!I say congratulations to those who completed the stardust and fought with magician Faust.I am in the moon and i got only 47 stardusts.Just 3 more!!!Anywhere you must buy The Legend of Dragoon disc and play it as soon as you have the disc coz it is fun and it ROCKSSSSS!!!

The Legend of Dragoon is probably the best Rpg I have ever played. The graphics are top notch and the music kicks ***! The story is quite original and cool. The game embodies everything a good Rpg should. The battle system is outstanding and very challenging and the characters are likeable. A great adventure that I recommend to everyone, not just Rpg fans. EVERYONE!!!!!
