NOTHING CAN MATCH IT'S SUPERIOR GAMEPLAY! | | Paul Lowden says (15/Nov/2005): | I once played ff7, indeed i did enjoy it but being my first play at a RPG i died a lot and give up. With fantastic reviews to ff8 i played and completed ff8, being over whelmed with enjoyment i took adive from true ff fans and continuted ff7. Graphics are always a problem if u want them to be, however once i was playing ff7 it made no diffrance, the graphics, although outdated was nothing compared to the superior gameplay, excitment, story. The characters are the best i've ever seen, captivating the player into listening to the individial storys. apart from that there is the massive world and a hell of a lot to explore, hidden quests, hidden bosses and more made me play it the second time to complete more, and to this day still playing. The hype for ff7 was well worth it, and even today ask any rpg fan and they will tell you ff7 has touched places where no other rpg can ever go. Not many massive long hour games make u want to play again and again, but in ff7's case, the more you play, the more of the story you will understand, and the more you will complete. This is indeed the greatest game ever overall. People who haven't tried a rpg should try this, this lays the icing on the cake for anyone to enjoy rpgs
| Best game ever | | Deargdoom from Bandon Ireland says (23/Jun/2004): | This is the best game I've ever playe, way better than 8,9 or 10. The graphics aren't great, sure, but you don't notice it that much because the rest of the game is so great. As for people who thought it was too long, where's the fun in a game you beat the first time you play it. And there are so many sidequests and things to find, you just have to keep coming back to play it. And while Sephiroth wasn't too hard at the end, he was by far the best villain in any game anywhere. Also, if you want hard bosses, try Emerald and Ruby WEAPON on for size. Really, really hard, way harder then Sephiroth. The storyline is too good to describe, you just have to play the game yourself. Also, in the FMVs, the graphics are as good as most other games I've seen. And the heroes are all really cool. The love triangle between Cloud, Tifa and Aeris is really interesting, and the tragedy (won't say what, don't want to ruin it for people yet to play it)really, really makes you hate Sephiroth. All the characters have a history and a reason to fight beyond "The world is in danger, let's save it" and they are developed brilliantly, with crucial facts placed at just the right points in the story. My title sum's it up: Best game ever!
| Pay ur respect where it is due!!!! | | zAcK from Newcastle, Ontario Canada says (1/Aug/2002): | Final Fantasy seven is by far the greatest game ever made and rating it ten out of ten is a gross under statement. I played it when I was younger and got stuck and quit. Yet a year later I went out and bought it again. I have completed evreything there is to do and then some I aloong with my friend have played the game for well over 99:59:59. I have played ff 7 9 and ten and have realized that seven is better in every department (except graphics but for it's time it is). The chocobos far outweigh that horrible card game and blitzball just wasn't all that (I only played it once in the tournament). I will not spoil the game because the storylilne is the number one reason ff7 surpassed REsident evil 2 as my favourite game. When you finish the game you will feel overwhelmed that those geniuses in squaresoft could have created something so perfect. The game was like no other I have ever played the plot and gameplay were just so original. Cloud could beat any one in the ff series. Sephiroth was actually evil unlike kuja and seymour there reasons for murder were human emotions unlike sephiroth and his hatred for the non-ancients. All in all this game far surpasses anything you will ever play for any console.
| Filan Fantasy VII - RPG HISTORY | | Angus Luong from Glen Carbon IL USA says (29/Feb/2004): | Final Fantasy 7 was and still is the best game out there in the gaming industries. I was a little skeptical of RPG's, FFVII was my first rpg and I loved it. Since playing the game I have played many other rpg's as well, but none has been most satisfying as FFVII. I am really hoping for a REMAKE for PS2 and a SEQUEL. Talking about the game now really makes me want to go back and play, so off I go :)Final Fantasy 7 was and still is the best game out there in the gaming industries. | FantasyGurl | | Billie from Kentucky (USA) says (23/Jan/2006): | Imagine living in a world where there is no remorse, and a Huge Corporation is trying to make demise of the planet and you have all of your friends fighting next to your side. Does it get any better than this? Final Fantasy VII was a huge breakthrough for the RPG business, as well as the first game in North America to actually hit it big. Before Final Fantasy VII the life of RPG'S had went down the drain. In 1997 Final Fantasy VII was released and is what started it all for RPG'S. Ok so alot of people say the graphics aren't that good. Well if you actually played the game back in 1997, the graphics were the best thing around. The music was awesome, the gameplay keeps me comming back for more, and the Plot is full of twists and turns; you never know whats going to happen around the next corner. Plus Final Fantasy VII introduces and gives you a full length story behind every character, something that is vastly done with all of the other Final Fantasy Series. If you want to play a classic that will keep you hooked for years to come, and actually touches your emotions, Play Final Fantasy VII i guarantee you will love it, or your money back! (LOL)! ~Final Fantasy 4-Life~
| My Escape | | Kimahri from San Antonio, TX USA says (17/Apr/2003): | I must say, I have many games in my collection, but after it's all done and I've played them all, I always go back to the classic: FF7. This was (and is) the most amazing RPG I ever played! I think it was a combination of things: This was the first final fantasy to have CG sequences... and let me tell you.. when I saw that opening sequence with Aeris watering her flowers... my jaw dropped. And also, the characters were so real. they weren't storybook hero and villian... The main character had flaws and even some evil in him. He wasn't perfect. And even Aeris had flaws. But it made them become real personalities, instead of just a player in a game. That and the immense storyline made this game so great. I also loved how there were so many things to go back and do, even if you'd beaten the game. I still haven't beaten Ruby weapon (sad, but true) and it's been 4 years since I got the game! This is truly a classic. If a FF7 remake were to come along.... I'm not sure if there'd be a price too high. It's just one of those games that is old enough to give you that nostalgic feeling when played, but modern enough to be amazing by way of graphics, music and enjoyability.
| I love this game!!! | | Riina (Bubble) from Porvoo, Finland, Europe says (13/Mar/2004): | I really love Final Fantsy VII game! It's exiting, funny 'n' full of action!
My friends doesn't play games too much 'n' they 'jess can't understand why I love this game.
Final Fantasy VII has beatifull music. Many placas are soo beatifull! The graphics aren't so good but it really doesn't matter.. The movies are very good bonus for the game.
There's lot of thing to do in the game. And I love those little 'jobs'. For exempel: getting the Golden Chocobo, killing Ruby 'n' Emerald Weapon, 'n' so on. I've done every singel thing what exists in the game. I wonder if theres anything more to do...
The charters are lovely. My favorite is Sephiroth. Cloud 'n' Aeris are nice too. I think Sephiroth is cute.. ;) It's sad he's suck a mad... And it isn't even his fault. heehee...Sephiroth's theme is wonderfull.
one BIG point to the Final Fantasy VII game is that Aeris dies. She's one of the most lovely charters. It's very goog idea that she gets killed by Sephiroth. In many other games the main charter never dies. But FF VII is different.
FF VII is very popular and I ain't suprised. Those who hasn't tryed playing Final Fantasy VII should really try it and fast!
| Still one of the best. | | Chris "FreeRPGer" Grennon from Troy, NY, USA says (1/Oct/2003): | This game is what got me into RPGs, simply put. I've been a gamer since the Atari 2600, being 36, but I never knew the likes of an RPG till I got absorbed by my Playstation back in '96. I was an action gamer, till one day, lo and behold: I went out and bought Final Fantasy VII. This game hooked me, cat-quick, and I've been an avid RPGer ever since. Yes, I own almost every RPG now for every system, all thanks to this game. The graphics, though blocky now, were great for that time (when released in the late 90's). The greatest aspect of the game is the story; not only that, but it implements the story in between the gameplay perfectly, for a perfect balance resulting in never getting bored. Some say the game is too dramatic, but I'd have to disagree. You can "feel" these characters come to life, even the enemy, Sephiroth...trust me, after what he does you want to enact revenge so bad you can taste it. Yes, the characters are very well developed, indeed. The music is something else to behold, as are the sounds, the cinemas, the mood, and the gameplay's difficulty balance is spot-on.
Yes, 700 RPGs later, I can still say this is one of the best.
| BEST-GAME-IN-THE-WORLD | | A Baxter from N.Ireland Londerry says (4/Jul/2003): | I love this game as it has a deep plot, good graphics and a great lifespan. Cloud by far is the coolest goodguy in any game I've played. This game also has LOTS!!! of mini games and sidequests like chocobo raceing and the battle arena. It has a great storyline that will make you want to play onto see what happens. This game has a great world map with lots of secrets thats makes you want to explore it again and again which final fantasy 8 and 9 have lost. The game is great fun to play and you will be playing it for around 50 to 60 hours as I have and if you do all the sidequests it will be alot longer. Once I started playing this game I couldn't stop and I would be up late at night playing this and then in the morning I would be straight up playing it.Once I completed the game I got a bit deprested so I started it again. The game has a good sound track you could sometimes just listen to the music. The sound track gos very well with the game and never is anoying to hear. If you beat the final boss and think you've completed eveything. I'm almost sure you're
wrong as there is so much to do.I give this game ten out of ten.
| Quite possibly the best game on the psx console!! | | N. Biznis from Neodesha, KS, USA says (24/Sep/2002): | Let me start off by saying that I never liked, let alone played many RPG games before this game. My brother in law introduced the game to me. I love this game. I've played it three times in around the last three years, not to mention the times I've died(hey, not that many), and the times I've started over just to redo some things. I still have all games and play on them frequently, although my first two are all done except to beat the infamous Sephiroth. Well, I've beaten him, but you can't save after that. I love the Chocobo aspect of the game. The game was just great for a 1997 release! A good challenge for people is to really max out everyone's stats,(not just 255, but really like 500!!). Plus, if anyone can prove the white chocobo stuff, please let me know. No B.S.ing please. I have tried it so much, that I would like it to be proved or disproved. The music is boring after a while, but hey throw in a CD, and turn the T.V. music down. I like the fights, it is pretty self-explanatory and the menus let you just glide right through a fight. The Summons on the game are just awesome! I just flat out love this game.
| The Best RPG Ever | | X from conroe, texas says (26/Jan/2004): | Fianl Fantasy XII, sounds great, cool rpg, made by squaresoft (theres a up) and the commercials make the game look out of this world. So of course i have to have it, adds to my collection of the Final Fantasy Anthology. Iget home and begin playing it, decent grapics, really cool main character, his hot girl friend Tifa lol, and his hot headed partner Barret. Not only those three are cool, but Red XIII, and Vincent are really cool as charecters, not necessarily my playing people, but still cool creations. As im playing thru the game I see the obvious great parts, the story line is the best of any rpg, no other villan gets in your head like Sephiroth, he's just so evil!! The movies are great to, my fav is the one where the the Weapons emerge from the glacier peak, man was that bad. As in the series, the love story is great, cloud and tifa are alittle slow, but the get each other and thats the ~sniff~ romantic part of the story lol. Well other than saying how this game is just great, great, great for the next three hours, ill just go and let you get the game and see for your self how great it is, later fellow gamers.
| Still the best Final Fantasy game! | | Moo from Norwich, England says (29/Nov/2004): | The graphics look a bit dated (although the backgrounds are still brilliant) and the battles are too, but this is still the best Fianl fantasy game. You play as an ex-SOLDIER member named Cloud who is working with a group of rebels called AVALANCHE. The storyline and the characters are still some of the best (better than Yuna and Brother for a start.) The game is massive and completely non-linear there are also a few side-quests but not as much as 10, 9 and 8 it took me about 50 hours to complete and it was worth every secon. This game is a must buy and you can probably get it for cheap to so BUY IT!!! The materia system is also a lot better than the newer games (sphere grid, junctioning etc) and there is not as much relying on summoned monsters as there is on FF8. The video sequences are good but they don't really compare to the other games' but the sequence where (arial is it?) gets stabbed sephiroth :'( very emotional. Theres 3 discs and a preview of FF8 (I did a review of that too!) BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!! I personally would give it 10/10 (but i guess you probably knew that already cos it says < remove me > at the top)
| Chris's ff7 review.... | | Christopher Curry from Jonesboro, ( Lousiana ), USA says (9/Aug/2003): | When i first played Final Fantasy 7 i was so confused i died on my first boss fight. But when i palyed it a little more i discovered it wasnt all that hard to do.Now im a master at it and i can help anybody if they need it. What i liked about it was the graphics, the battle syetem, the characters, the materia. But it just whould not be A great game without the villans. I think that without sephiroth and reno the game whould not be playable. The story line For final fantasy 7 is great to. It llets you know so much about the characters past's. The story line takes you from just fighting an evil corporation to saving the planet. But the best thing about ff7 is the mini games. The mini games are helpfull in many ways. The places you visit and the music all rock to. I think that Final Fantasy 7 is the best game yet. So if you dont have it and you are reading this please go out and buy it. The materia and thier combinations are also helpfull to. and the secret characters like vincent and yuffie are cool as well. But thats my review of Final Fantasy 7. Oh yea one more thing. I think that 7 is the hardest of all of them.
| The Best Game | | Sima Nedeljkov from New Zealand, Auckland says (8/Feb/2003): | Even though I got this game a long time ago, I still haven't clocked it! You wouldn't be suprised. I have a manual which tells me everything I need to do and everywhere I need to go!
Final Fantasy VII is one of the best games ever! I like the FMV movies and the part where Cloud is on a motorbike. I especially like it when Vincent transforms into Galian Beast or Death Gigas! What I dislike about the game is that you have to save your game before going onto different disks! I've had this game for 6 years in a row! One of the hardest parts for me was when you have to defeat The Ghost Of Gi. I couldn't get past that part for 10 months! This game is so cool that I can't stop playing it.
My favourite summon spell is Neo Bahamut. I have completed the game 90% and have fought millions of enimies but I can never ever defeat The Weapon in the desert or The Weapon underwater.
I have all my magic in the 'Master' catergory and have never ever used escape magic. All my characters are level 90 and every body has their last limit. I have enjoyed this game so much.
I hope that you enjoy it too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
| This game kicks others in the face! | | Stan from Portland,OR USA says (15/Jan/2001): | This is by far, the best game I have ever played!!! I bought this game along with my playstation and the second I played it, my jaw dropped! This game has the best storyline, music and gameplay. This game is still my favorite overall game even though I played all of the rest from the Final Fantasy series! This game has the best music because it suits the area around you, the battle music gets your adrenaline pumping and the sad music actually made some people cry(or so I heard)!!! Most RPGs that came after this have the same boundaries because they wanted others to be as much of a sucess. The graphics are cool even though the arms are pretty skinny, but this is the type of game that you have to look past the graphics and see other qualities it has. I'm not saying that the graphics are bad, they are very cool even considering the fact that this was one of the first games to come out for playstation. This game has the best storyline of all time, even after all of these years no game has had such a tremendous storyline! If you havent bought this game, then your a fool and should go buy it immediatly!
| I liked it because. | | Jade from England says (18/Jan/2004): | I loved final fantasyVII because it was good to play and hard. you meet exciting charaters and hard bosses.the bad point is it has no bad points.I found it very hard to start of but I got the hang of it Quick. If you havent got it and need a strategy game get FFVII Are any other FF games. It might be a hard at the start but you'll probably get through it if you have the right Strategy. This game requires good thinking especially in battles And how you use your charaters. The graphics are good for ps1.You must chosse wisely when in shops you need to have the right stuff or you'll get nowhere. You also need the right weapons and everytime near a shop always get a stronger weapon if got aneough gil.All charaters have differnt albiltes use them wisely in battles. If you use them right they will be stronger.Try and make all your charachters attack so they will get Exp.Well thats all Please Please Email me if need help leave your email adress so I can Reply.P.sSome of you might of all ready cloked it and wont bother Reading it but if you have a freind who needs help tell them to contact Me and I will help.
| Materia_hunter says this is the best | | Kye from England liverpool says (3/Sep/2005): | I thought there was nothing wrong the graphics Are still good to this day you need to think this was a god sent back in the day I played it all the way to the end i loved the music and the game play was good but the thing that made it the best is the story nothing comes close to it when the story is what you are looking for as for the players you could be cloud was the right man for a hero strong and not careing until the end barrtet well i never liked him myself but he was your mr musel and under all that did care tifa was a strong and careing person red 13 was a wis wolf that gave the opion that every one needed to hear arise was a careing girl vincent was a some what troubeled with his pasted keep to him self and at the end was one with him self cat sith all i can sat one for the kids cid was your mr i care about myself evern no he did not and yuffie was young and all ways went in head frist not stoping to think about what she was going but in the end got it all together and sephiroth was just cool evil and at the same time you could understand him that was what i thought of it any way
| the best game I ever played | | michael from petabourgh, ontairio says (18/Apr/2004): | Final fantasy 7 was the best final fantasy thier is for the playstation. Here are somethings you might have missed in the game.In clouds hometown go into the shinra manson and go to the second floor and turn left go to the room with the safe in it go to the safe and press X.Then go to right 36 left 10 right 58 and right 97 this will open the safe but you have to be very quick at opening the safe becuse you only have 20 seconds to open the safe but when you open the safe you will get atacked if you beat the monster pick up everything then go downstairs and go to the very first door the one thats not at the end of the hall. After you get in thier go over to the coffen and press X the guy will come out of the coffen. The game will give you two choices pick talk about sepheroth after your done that he will go back into his coffen. Then you go back up to the coffen and press X he will come out of the coffen again. The game will give you two more choices pick whats your name then leave the room and start heading out of the building well your doing this the guy will come out and join your party.
| Nothing compares to FFVII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | SJ Cecil from Archdale, NC (USA) says (10/May/2001): | I beat this game, along with every weapon, back in late 97. It is the sole reason that I purchased a playstation and why I cast my NES to the wolves!! There is not another rpg, FF or otherwise, that compares to Final Fantasy VII. It has all the elements of a great rpg... graphics, music and storyline. The game is massive, the Gold Saucer amusement park is a game within a game where you can snow board, shoot baskets and bet on yourself at the Chocobo race track! You can even fight one on one against various monsters and bosses from the game at the battle arena. There are so many side quests, so much leveling up and the Emerald Weapon..... talk about insane level of difficulty! If you can beat this guy, you'll beat the final boss in 6 turns or less!!!!! To fully appreciate this game, complete all the quests and beat Emerald and Ruby Weapon, you will spend 80 to 100hrs playing it! This game is on greatest hits now, so you can enjoy the greatest FF of all for $19.99!!!! Buy it, buy it, buy it!!!!!!! Check out the hundreds of ratings this game has gotten, you will not be dissapointed!
| Bad graphics, but a definite classic. | | Myles Harris from Bristol,England says (3/May/2004): | Considering the graphics are rubbish, the characters don't speak and it takes ages to complete, this is must-own for any final fantasy or RPG fan. If you've ever gotten to the end and eliminated Sephiroth, you'll know what I mean. But first theres the bad things, there are plenty of them.
Ofcourse the graphics are, except when you are in the midst of battle, atrocious. Also, unlike in Final Fantasy X, the only way you can understand what the characters are saying is by reading the text at the bottom of the screen. If you don't like long games you will definetly not the game for you, since it has 3 discs that, except from the last one, are quite long. But the story is so good, you really don't care if the graphics are blocky or that there is no voice-acting. The music and sound are great aswell, so who cares if the people look like lego.
Since it was released seven years, you should be able to get it for around £15.00, which is a great low price for a classic. In my opinion, this is the best RPG ever made by Square, but it is a bit of a disappointment when you see the graphics.
